Chapter 9
"I and the love of my life ❤️❤️❤️"
I read it again.
The love of his life!
That broke my heart in more pieces than I could count. So this man could kill someone, run away to only God knows where and then post a damn picture of a lady who I suppose to be the love of his life.
He was very stupid.
I saved the post and went through his profile.
Name: Aaron Naborhi
Located at: Abuja
Relationship status: Married
He's at Abuja?
How could dad be so stupid as to post himself on Facebook knowing he's on the run for murdering my mom.
But the problem was how was I going to find him in Abuja? Where would I start?
Telling the police won't solve anything. And besides, I wanted to find him myself and give him a piece of my mind
I was still wallowing in my thoughts and suddenly someone walked into the house. I looked up to find Mr and Mrs. Adepero making their way to the parlour.
Mama Ami carried some bags with the ShopRite logo on them and I rushed to carry them. I greeted her husband as he walked to his room. Mama Ami smiled at me as I carried her bags to the room also, with her following behind of course.
"Where's Abifoluwa?"
"She's asleep ma." And then she nodded.
I went back to the room and saw Ami reading a book but was still lying in the bed. Stars in the day by Krisandra Kole.
She noticed my presence and smiled dropping the said book and stood up to hug me.
"Thanks for being there there for me boo."
"Welcome bae." I replied
I contemplated whether I should tell her about the Facebook photo. And how I'm gonna find him. I knew she wasn't a snitch but what if when sneak out, her parents find out and ask her about me? They are her parents after all so she has to tell them. Which means I had to do this alone.
"So how you feeling now?"
I asked her.
"Good actually and I'm really enjoying this book. And I'm supposed to be studying!"
She said laughing.
"Life of a student my dear!" I rolled in laughter
You're reading a novel and then start feeling guilty cause you can't read your academic books like that.
"Anyway, I made some spaghetti and kept it in a flask for you to keep it warm."
She smiled instantly and started choking me in the name of a hug.
"Thank you boo."
"You're welcome bae." I was getting tired of this 'boo' and 'bae' thing.
She left the room to eat her spaghetti, leaving me in the room back to my thoughts.
Should I tell her?
And risk getting caught before I even leave this state?
This is hard.
I planned to leave at midnight. I knew this was going to have dire consequences if anything went wrong. But I had no choice.
I couldn't depend on the police on this one.
12:00pm
Said the time on my phone. It was time. My backpack had my phone, charger, earpiece, a pen, a note, two biscuits and a bottle of water. And some money I saved up in case I needed it.
Ami was asleep on the bed. She didn't even notice that I was leaving . It pained me not to tell her but I couldn't take the risk. I wrote a letter and left it on her reading table and kissed her head before leaving the room.
I could have gone through the window but no Nigerian house is complete without protectors on the windows. Typical.
I had to get out through the back door. It was very cold at night and the mosquitoes decided to have a feast on my skin. I swatted them with my palms but to no avail.
I quietly walked through and looked at the gate. I looked at the Adepero's house one more time with a stray tear falling down.
I am going to find you daddy.
I will.
That's a wrap people!
What do you think? Did she make the right decision? will Ami rat her out? Will sh succeed in this journey? It's all happening!
Anyway, thanks for making it this far. God bless you all, once again, I love you♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Adiós, hasta mañana.
