Nnamdi

After my encounter with the ice cream lady. I felt a bit determined to do as she said.

I and Efe ran to the fountains. It was a high place where one could see any part of the Park. It was splendid.

From the Ferris Wheels to the swings to the food stands. It all looked so surreal.

But nothing could amount to the beauty of the girl standing beside me.

Efe.

That name. She is really rich in Character and beauty.

Her eyes were looking in a frenzy. Trying to find her parent as soon as possible.

I didn't realized I kept staring until at her until she looked at me. My eyes jammed with hers and I looked at the next thing away from her gaze.

And it was a kid vomiting on the side of the road.

Typical.

"Let's go back. We can't find him." She said.

"No na. Don't giv-"

She stopped me by putting her five fingers in front of my face and that shut me up.

We walked down the fountains and back to the Ice cream shop.

"Any luck?" The lady asked.

"No." I replied.

This lady looks so familiar and I couldn't place my finger on it.

She sighed and then gestured to the little kiosk. Telling us to come in.

Of course I wouldn't just walk into her kiosk. I was skeptical.

But Efe went in and who am I not to go along.

The lady closed the shutters and pointed to two little stools at the side.

"I'm sure you must be wondering why I called you both in here. I'm Mapis."

What a strange name.

"I have been working here for four to five years." She sighed.

She then looked at Efe. "I know that man you are looking for is your father. Am I correct?"

Efe wore the most shocked looked I have ever seen in my life.

"I can see the resemblance between the two of you. You have his eyes and skin colour."

Woah

Talk about heredity.

The lady I then knew as Mapis spoke again.

"Your father. Mr Aaron. Has been buying ice-cream from my kiosk since I started working here. At first he was making advances towards me. But I declined."

"He started bringing a lady with him, then a child. Thank God I didn't accept."

My guy de run two families. No be small tin o.

"So. Get straight to the point." I snapped.

Efe sent me a look that said 'calm down.'

But Mapis smiled.

Come does this woman have a smiling problem. If na me my mouth go de pain me.

"Don't worry. It's nothing. So the thing is, your father is a very hard man to find. He travels from one place to another. He is a very private man."

"I may have something to help you."

I looked at Efe as she looked at me.

"What do you have?" The girl asked.

Mapis brought out a piece of paper and gave it to Efe. She looked at it and her eyes almost popped out of her sockets.

"This is his home address. He gave it to me a year ago. I never needed it but I decided to keep it. Now I know why."

Efe had a big smile on her face. It was delighted seeing her happy.

"Thank you Mapis! How am I going to repay you for this?"
Efe blurted out.

Make this woman no talk money o

Mapis shook her head. "My dear nothing would do." "I can't expect a teenager looking for her father to give me something. I just want to help you." She said.

Na Naija we de. There is no such thing as helping somebody without requesting for something.

"Alright, thank you Mapis."
I said.

We are about leaving the kiosk when Mapis spoke again.

"What are your names?" She asked. I wasn't sure about giving her our names even though she helped us.

But Efe thought otherwise. And she blurted out our names.

"Efe and Nnamdi."

This girl eh.

So. Are Mapis' feelings genuine or is she up to something. I wanna hear ur thoughts.

Love u❤️❤️❤️❤️
