It was of those nights where everything was unsettlingly calm; no call from Voldemort, no raids that night, nothing. Just...silence. Draco knew he wasn't the only one that felt it, Theo and Blaise could feel that something was amiss as well. Usually the only time when all the death eaters were left to their own devices without their marks burning or some sort of commotion was when the Dark Lord had something planned, the calm before the storm.
"You feel it too right?" Blaise asked the other two boys as they sat at their kitchen bar in the shared flat. Theo nodded but Draco remained silent, which was not unusual for him. He was the quiet stony figure of the three boys.
"Yeah mate. We return from a raid early just so Modlywort can tell us to Bugger off. Whatever he's got planned I don't like." Theo replied surly and on edge but still keeping his sarcastic demeanor.
"Honestly I think he's just coming up with another failed attempt to find the order. Or what's left of it." Blaise said almost tiredly.
"No. I don't think that's it." Draco finally spoke breaking his silence. "If it was some sort of mission, he would have called me in to help as he always does. It's something different this time." Draco spoke lost in thought, running his hands up and down his pant legs before clasping them behind his back.
"Well alright since you're so brilliant. What do you think is going on?" Theo asked snarkily. Draco was Theo's best mate and he looked up to him but Draco could drive a perfectly sane man bonkers.
Draco smirked having a near perfect idea. "Alright. The other day I overheard You-Know-Who talking to Greyback about some delivery that would be arriving a few days prior. At the time I just assumed maybe more rations, or perhaps some unimportant war survivors. But now I'm wondering if what ever this delivery is might be something of more value."
Theo and Blaise leaned a bit closer in curiosity. "And now, I'm certain that what ever is being delivered to The Dark Lord is something for his personal gain."
At the moment these words slipped past Dracos lips the green skull tattooed on each of the boys arms lit up green and burned just the slightest. The three boys facial expressions all turned grim as the nodded at one another.
"I guess we're about to find out if I am right." Draco spoke and a small smirk rose to his mouth. "And sadly for us I am never wrong."
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The heel of Dracos boots clacked against the stone floor and he swept his arm out brushing part of his robes behind him. Theo and Blaise followed not far behind, they were currently at Malfoy Manor which Voldemort inhabited at the moment, one of the reasons why Draco left the house.
A few death eaters littered the hallway but not many, most likely because Voldemort only summoned a choice few.
Walking into the main dining hall, Draco spotted Voldemort sitting at the end of the Grand table and as always Aunt Bella was sitting right next to him, staring at the snake like man with what can only be described as insane admiration.
Bowing his head, draco raised a closed first to the his left shoulder showing respect. "My lord. You summoned us?" Draco spoke gesturing to Blaise and Theo as well as a few other death eaters including Dracos least favorite. Yaxley.
"Indeed I did." Voldemort spoke in calm voice. His voice alone always set Draco on edge but he would never admit that.
"I have some news. Although seeing as you are my second in command I'm sure you've already figured out what it is." He spoke evenly and stood walking across the room Bella following in tow.
Draco had a fairly decent idea but he knew Voldemort liked to explain all of his plans and ideas.
"I've recently tracked down a certain location where part of the Order has hidden a few members of their orginal members of the army. I orginally planned to have them delivered here but...something came up and I was unable to send out a small group of death eaters." He stopped pacing and looked directly at Draco who's face was kept with an empty blank expression.
"This is where all of you come in. I've chosen the lot of you because you have proven your loyalty and your skill. I will give you directions and Draco shall lead all of you to the orders small hideout. Where you will bring as many survivors back as possible. The rest that you know for sure are unimportant can simply be killed." Voldemort finished off looking at the group evenly.
Yaxley walked out from the group of death eaters once Voldemort finished speaking, displeasure was visible on his face as was obvious jealousy. "My lord? Surely you would want someone more experienced leading this group, I mean this Malfoy is still but a child-" Yaxley spoke out foolishly.
No one spoke against Draco especially to tell him his skills were subpar. "Yaxley you shove your unwanted opinion right up your arse." Draco spoke in calm rage crossing his arms over his chest
Voldemort raised a hand quieting down the two. "Yaxley, do you doubt me? Doubt my plan?" Voldemort said. Yaxley face visibly paled as he realized he had anger him. "My lord I-I meant no offense-" Once again he held up a hand silencing him. "Draco has been apart of my inner circle since he went to that wretched school. Nearly four years he's been loyal to me. He is beyond capable of this small attack." Voldemort said his eyes narrowing into slits before turning to face Draco.
"Now as I was saying you'll bring them here and we'll do the usual routine." This as it always was, well at least for draco was Crutio, Legilimency, and finally Avada. Though the Dark Lord had no knowledge that Draco, Blaise and Theo used Legilimency on the victims "Yes my lord."
"Oh and Draco before you pick the people you will divide into sub groups make sure to give Yaxley three Crutios for talking out of turn."
Smirking Draco nodded and turned to the slightly frightened Yaxley. "As you wish my Lord." He raised his wand and pointed at Yaxley making sure to keep eye contact. Oh how he was going to enjoy this. "Crutio." Yaxley gripped his stomach and sunk to his knees but made no sound. As a death eater dishing out and receiving unforgivable curses was just part of the job.
"Are you alright there Yaxley? You seem a little sore." Draco taunted and Yaxley grimaced up at him. "Alright let's just bloody get on with it I'm already bored."
"Crutio. Crutio." Draco spoke the spell from memory almost tiredly. Yaxleys face tightened and he spat blood out on the cobble stone floor.
"Maybe next time you'll remember where your place is." Draco then turned to the group of death eaters not bothering to look back at the man hobbled on the floor. "Alright I'll spilt you into two groups. One with me and one with hmm...say Rodolphus Lestrange if he's up for leading the other group." Draco raised an eyebrow glancing at his uncle. "It would be an honor Draco." Draco rolled his eyes at the attempt of flattery. "Flattery won't be necessary uncle."
"Now first...Auntie Dearest." He drawled. Draco sincerely hated his schizophrenic of an aunt but she was quite skilled in combat plus he wanted to keep in eye on her. "Would you care to join me on this mission?"
Bellatrix's eyes lit up in excitement and she eagerly nodded licking her cracked teeth. "Why yes! I'd love to nephew!" She said with pride and skipped over to where has standing next to the table.
"And now I pick, the Carrows, Dolohov, Nott, Murton, and Davis. The rest of you are with with Lestrange." Draco purposely left Blaise with Lestrange do he can watch the others in that group. He trusted Blaise realized his plan.
"Any questions. Good. Now let's go.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The Orders sub hideout was located at a nearly untraceable spot in the forbidden forest. Nearly untraceable. Of course Voldemort had his ways of finding it, most of which included using Legilimency and Crutio on the right people. As Voldemort had told Draco before they left there were not many of the Orders members here so the only reason he bothered even to bring it down was a rumor that some of the more important members of the Order would be here tonight.
A muffliatio charm was surrounding the group of death eaters so no nearby ears could hear them and they were not very visible seeing as how it was pitch dark out.
"Up ahead we should be coming across the hideout I'm sure they've got some protective enchantments up to conceal it so I'll first disarm it with a few counter charms. After the charms are dismantled each of you cast your own concealing charm on yourself and we will split off into our groups. Grab as many people as possible then use your port key." Draco explained this all very quickly out of concern for being discovered.
But they never got the chance as soon as he dismantled the charms a loud alarm went off. Draco knew he wasn't the one that triggered the alarm because he was always so precise with what he was doing. "Dammit Masey!" Draco cursed at her looking over at her noticing her obvious mistake. She was a newer recruit and had only been here four months.
Masey had forgotten the most obvious rule, don't use your own wand at an order hide out. They have charms to detect death eaters magic so this is why Death Eaters always carried two wands.
"They'll be on us any minute." Yaxley fretted anxiously. "We should hide and wait for things to settle down."
"Stuff it Yaxley. We are going to do what was orginally planned. Except we don't have the element of surprise anymore. Go in now. Kill who you can and keep the valuable ones alive." Draco spoke ease in his voice.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Two hours later they all arrived at the mansion with a handful of kidnapped ordered members. Though Draco had no idea who Rodolphus group took but he knew he'd find out soon enough so he paid no mind.
His group had captured 10 different order members, most of them Draco didn't recognize except for one or two. Padma patil and Lisa Burson were the two that stuck out to him. Draco faintly remembered Padma wing escorted by the Weasley at the Yule Ball. Although it could have been the other twin Parverti or whatever her name was. Draco wonder as to why he was remembering this, these memories didn't matter considering the Patil girl would most likely be dead soon.
The newly captured order members were bound at the ankles and wrists, they were currently placed on their knees in the basement of Malfoy Manor awaiting the arrival of Vodemort and the rest or the captured memebers.
Padma-Paverti or whoever she was glanced over at Draco and a flicker of recognition crossed her face. Though she was wise enough to stay silent, if she had begged for help from Draco she would've had the cruciatus used on her or Avada, more than likely the latter. But even though she didn't speak up she sent him a helpless glance before returning her glazed over eyes back towards the floor.
Draco kept his face clean of emotion and cast a wordless numbing spell over her. Her head shot up giving him a questioning look. Draco gave a small subtle shake of his head as Rodolphus busted through the doors his face red with exhilaration.
"I've done it! I've done it! I've actually done it!" He shouted breathlessly.
"Done what? Come now Rodolphus we can't understand you when your panting like a parched mutt." Draco snapped.
Rodolphus bent over resting his hands on his knees catching his breathe for a moment before speaking again. "I've....incarcerated the mud blood."
Draco sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose in irritation, it was very out of character for death waters to be acting this rowdy; especially those of the inner circle. "Rodolphus you'll need to be more specific then that. Which mudblood have you landed in your procession?"
The male lestrange stood up straight and smoothed down his robes, a prideful smirk on his face. He gestured to the prisoners that lined behind him and in the very front was a familar bushy haired girl. "Why, Hermione Granger."
