The cold shoulder - Tordmatt

Okay so this one is highly inspired by Vampire Weekend's song called "Campus". It's a really good song btw! And, to me, the song is not about boning a teacher like c'mon guys =.=

Anyway, lmfao, the two are in college during this! Tord's gonna be a jerk most of the time, and you'll see why?

3rd Person PoV:

Matt had just finished getting ready for another sucky day at college, leaving his apartment and locking the door behind himself. He frustratedly grumbled as he left the building, heading off to the nearby college. He couldn't afford a car, which is why he had to go on foot. He adjusted his purple-ish and blue-ish backpack, knowing that it would be a lot heavier after the school day ended. He walked for a short bit, sometimes kicking pebbles that laid on the sidewalk in front of him. It didn't take too long for him to reach the campus, and he paused to take a look around. It seemed like the gardening club had planted some flowers, mostly red roses and small white flowers that he didn't recognize. He was about to look at a patch of flowers to his left, but he saw someone familiar looking at the patches to the right.

The male had dark brown devil horns on his head, seemingly his hair. He was also wearing a red hoodie under a black coat, which had its collar popped. Matt took a moment, but remembered who it was. The male's name was Tord, and Matt often found him sitting outside on the grass and large rocks after school was over. Tord often liked to read, and he was rather quiet. Though, Matt felt like Tord was only quiet around him, because Tord would yell across the hall to his friends Paul and Patryck. Matt's smile dropped at that thought, but he tried to doubt it. He changed his frown to a smile, walking over to Tord.

"Hey! Your name's Tord, right?" The ginger greeted, Tord looking away from the flowers and standing up straight. "Yeah." Was all he replied with. Matt was taken aback by the male's careless attitude, but he was fine with it after a bit of thinking. "Cool! I'm Matt, if you were wondering. So... what'cha doing?" Matt asked, Tord cracking a small smile that he switched to a neutral look. "Looking at flowers, what does it look like?" Tord responded rudely, turning away to continue looking among the flowers. Matt tilted his head a bit from confusion, and Tord glanced back at him.

'I mean, I guess it was a bit of a dumb question.' Matt thought, which made his smile drop again. "...Okay. Well, I never knew that you liked flowers! What kind is your favorite?" Matt questioned, trying to lighten the mood. "...Dandelions." Tord replied, his face turning a light pink. Matt's eyebrows raised a bit, the answer from Tord causing him to ponder. "Dandelions? Really? Why is that?" Tord frowned a bit at Matt, getting annoyed from all of the questions. "Why do you care? Aren't I just some guy you had a group project with once?" Tord queried, crossing his arms as if Matt was wasting his time. "I mean... kinda... but-" Tord cut Matt off. "Whatever, leave me alone."

Tord started to run off, Matt standing there for a moment before running after him. "Tord, wait! I'm sorry if I happened to offend you!" Tord looked back at Matt, then picked up his pace until he entered the college building. Then, he darted down a hallway, and hid inside the boy's locker room. Though, Matt was a bit behind, so he didn't see Tord when he went into the hall. He loitered around there for a while, hoping that Tord would eventually become bored and head out of wherever he was hiding.

After a longer while, Matt sighed and decided to go to class. 'Maybe he just wants some alone time?' Matt thought to himself, walking off to his first period classroom. Throughout the entire day, Matt had been thinking about Tord. Yes, a bit obsessive, but he didn't want Tord to dislike him after what had happened that morning.

When the school day was over, Matt exited the college building, going out onto the rest of the campus. Then, he paused, seeing Tord walking off and adjusting his black backpack. Matt's face brightened, and he went over to apologize. He thought that Tord was probably just overwhelmed when he'd asked all of those questions, so he planned on being a bit easier on the male now. He went up to Tord, smiling. "Hiya, Tord!" He greeted, Tord glancing at him and rolling his gray orbs. "What do you want?" Tord asked, starting to walk a bit faster in a different direction. "I... uh..." Matt wasn't too sure what to say, but he caught up to Tord as he thought about it.

"I like your hair! It's really cool how it stays up like that!" Matt complimented, Tord looking away and huffing. "Yeah, sure, go away." Matt stopped following Tord, but the shorter male kept walking off. "...Okay..." Matt turned and headed toward the direction of his apartment, saddened by Tord's reaction to his mere presence. He didn't want to give up on becoming friends with Tord, but he also felt like Tord really didn't want him around. So, Matt hoped to become friends with somebody else. After all, he shouldn't let a person, that he wasn't even necessarily close to, ruin his day.

The next day, Tord awoke and sat up from his couch. He rubbed the sleepiness away from his eyes, yawning quietly. He stood up and stretched, cracking his back. He then went to the kitchen area of his dorm, opening a cabinet to reveal his small collection of instant ramen. He grabbed one of them, starting to prepare it to be put into the microwave, then he set it down and shut the microwave door. While it cooked, Tord sat on the counter nearby and thought about his week. The first thing that came to mind was Matt, the ginger that he'd been avoiding for a short bit. He hummed and tried to think of something else, but Matt's saddened face kept coming back into his head.

'I don't need friends. I'm going to be an army leader, not an emotional teenager.' Tord thought to himself, frowning. Then, the microwave beeped, causing him to jump slightly. He mumbled from frustration and hopped down from the countertop, grabbing a fork and his ramen from the microwave. To him, this was his normal breakfast and sometimes lunch. He'd try to purchase some food from restaurants nearby for his lunch and dinner, though he knew that he should start cooking for himself to stay healthy. After eating the rest of his ramen, Tord changed into some fresh clothes, which looked the same as the ones he wore the day before. He shrugged, then he grabbed his backpack and left his dorm, going out through the college building.

While walking down the hall to his first period class, deciding to go in a bit early, he saw a ginger with blue eyes and a purple hoodie under a green overcoat. 'Damnit.' Tord thought to himself, the two of them making eye contact and stopping in the middle of the hall. Surprising Tord, Matt rolled his eyes and kept walking right past him. The Norwegian male turned, watching as Matt continued walking without turning back to acknowledge the male's presence. Tord stayed there for a moment, taking in what had just happened. Then, he turned away and continued walking to his class, holding onto his backpack straps.

'I don't need him anyway. I mean, I was the one that pushed him away. So, I had my reasons.' Tord thought to himself, finding his class and entering. He took a seat and set his backpack down under the desk in front of him, taking a pencil and paper out. He set them both down on the desk, then he looked over at the door, hoping that Matt would run in and apologize as he'd done the day before. Unfortunately for him, that wasn't the case.

He looked away from the door, down at his paper. He pressed the tip of his pencil onto it, about to draw anything that came to mind. He drew a thick line, then the tip of his pencil snapped off. He rested his head on his desk, calmly at first, then he banged his head against it a few times out of slight stress. After that, he just crumpled up his blank sheet of paper and shoved it into his backpack, the pencil going in afterward.

After his classes, which he mostly just spaced out during, he left the building and took a seat on the grass by the wall. He took a book out of his backpack, then he started reading. After a while, he lifted his head, seeing a brunette in a green hoodie not too far away. Standing next to the male was, of course, Matt. Tord felt a pang of jealousy, but he pushed the feeling away.

Matt was smiling, laughing, doing just fine without Tord around. And, he seemed to now be friends with the brunette. They walked away, not even noticing that Tord was nearby. Tord sighed and went back to reading, but it was hard to focus. 'I pushed him away, and now I'm sad because he isn't bugging me anymore? Man, I have problems.' Tord thought to himself, blaming the whole situation on himself.

'How am I supposed to pretend that I never want to see you again?'

On the third day, Tord felt restless. He was the wrong one in this situation, and he knew it all too well. He always did this to people, but only if they were assholes to him. But, Matt had only tried to be nice to him. Matt didn't do anything wrong to deserve Tord's attitude. Tord got ready for class, then he swiftly left his dorm, looking around for Matt through the halls. It seemed like Matt hadn't arrived yet. So, Tord waited. He started to bite on his finger nails, feeling very nervous about seeing Matt again. Not like their awkward encounters in the halls during class breaks. He'd actually have to conversate with Matt, and he'd try his best to apologize for his actions against the poor boy.

Soon enough, Matt started walking down the hall. This time, he didn't even look at Tord, ready to pass by without a second thought. But, Tord walked up to him, and gently tapped his shoulder. Matt tensed up and turned towards Tord, a blank look on his face. Tord felt intimidated, realizing that Matt was quite a bit taller than he was. "U-uh... I... uhm..." Tord stuttered out, Matt quirking a brow but staying silent. "I'm... really sorry for acting like a jerk to you. You didn't deserve that at all." Tord finally admitted, looking down to the floor. Then, he felt Matt placing a hand on his shoulder, so he looked up at the taller male.

Matt was smiling a bit, then he shrugged. "It's fine. I guess I was being a bit annoying anyway-" Tord shook his head, bringing his hand to his shoulder to feel Matt's hand. "No, you were completely fine! You were just curious, and nothing's wrong with that. When making a new friend, you have to ask them a ton of questions to get to know them better. It's normal, and I ruined it... so, I'm sorry." Matt's face turned a bit red, then he hugged the Norwegian male, burying his face into his shoulder. "It's okay. Thank you..." Tord blushed and hugged back, feeling much better after he'd apologized. "Of course, Matt."
