Matthew didn't remember much up to this point. All he remembered was going into the bar for a quick drink before leaving Spitbucket, then it all went dark.

Now, however, Matthew awoke on a wooden floor. He sat up and looked around, seeing a male pointing a gun at him in the corner. "Did'ja have a nice rest?" The male asked, jogging Matthew's memory. "...Oh... you never gave me the wine I paid for!" The prince whined, crossing his arms. Todd faltered, his gun pointing at the floor for a moment.

"That's what you care 'bout right now? I'm holdin' you at gunpoint, and you care 'bout wine?" Todd inquired. Matthew shrugged. "I was kidnapped earlier too. How do I get myself into these situations?" Matthew groaned and laid down, looking up at the ceiling. "Plus, Sheriff Thompson and Edward Gold will figure this out soon. The previous group of bandits were rather... ignorant. Sorry for assuming, but you must be the same. Your group is only you anyway." Todd rolled his eyes and sighed.

"If I knew you'd be annoyin' I would've just shot you earlier." "Point taken! I'll be quiet now!" Todd set his gun down and leaned back onto the wall. "Okay, can I have a request?" Todd facepalmed and pinched the spot where his nose connected to his forehead. "What'll it be?" "I just... well... do you own a handheld mirror?" Todd cocked a brow. "Why would you need that? Are you gonna try to escape or somethin'?" Matthew shook his head.

"I just want to know if I'm looking better than usual, as always." Todd scoffed and went off to get one, locking the door behind himself. Now that Matthew noticed, he was in a dimly lit room with a wooden floor and red walls. He saw that Todd left his gun behind, so Matthew swiftly grabbed it and hid it behind him.

'I guess I wasn't wrong about the bartender's ignorance.'

Todd soon came back, holding a pink handheld mirror. "Here's your mirror, or whatever." Todd shut and locked the door behind him before handing Matthew the mirror. "Thank you, chap!" Matthew looked into the mirror and winked at his reflection. "Perfect, as always~!" Todd scoffed again and sat down on the floor. He squinted his eyes and looked around, remembering his gun.

"Looking for this, scoundrel?" Matthew asked teasingly, holding Todd's gun. He had it pointed at Todd, who lifted his arms and rolled his eyes. "You don't have the keys anyway. Plus," Tord brought his hand into his hat and pulled another gun out. "...Dang." Matthew put the gun down, knowing that his skills with a gun were probably inferior to Todd's skills.

"I reckon you made a fine choice right there," He smirked. "Chap." He spat, standing back up. He went over to Matthew and took the gun away from him, shoving it into his hat. The two went silent after Todd sat back down, the both of them fidgeting with their fingers or things that they had on them.

Matthew glanced at Todd every now and then to see what he was doing, which was mostly sharpening knives and humming random tunes. After a long silence, Matthew finally broke it by groaning loudly.

"I'm so bored! Don't you have anything fit for a prince around here?" "I can take you to the bathroom if you want." Todd replied, stabbing a knife into the floor next to him. Matthew huffed and frowned. "That was quite mean." "I could care less, Princely."  Matthew crossed his legs, sitting criss-cross-applesauce. "Do you have any books?" "Last time I left, you tried to turn the tables on me. Why'd I fall for that again?" Matthew made an 'I don't know' noise and Todd laughed.

"Exactly, princely." "Excuse me, my name is Matthew. Prince Matthew." "And I'm Todd. Nice to meet you." Todd continued sharpening his knives while Matthew became bored out of his mind. He started whistling and snapping his fingers, not knowing what else he could do.

"...You're weird." Todd said, making Matthew tilt his head. "What?" "I mean, you're just relaxin' and crackin' jokes. You're not scared of me?" The young prince laughed. "I'm only scared of your guns and knives. You're not scary. Well, not really. Maybe you are a little scary, but I still feel at ease around you." Matthew blushed and rubbed the back of his neck. "That sounded odd, didn't it?" Todd's cheeks turned a bit pink.

"Yeah, it did. Well, uh, I'm tryin' to think of how I can compliment you too..." Todd thought about the Brit for a while, gazing at him. "You're the only one that knows this side of me, I can tell you that much. Uh... you're... you make me feel less lonely?" Todd added, using a knife to trim his nails. The prince stayed silent, intrigued.

"You're... a prince? That's a compliment somehow?" Todd rambled on, trying to think of what the prince would like to hear. "And, finally, you're charmin'. Erm- prince charmin', hahah." Todd stumbled a bit, but corrected himself. "Wait... why are we talking about this? I forgot the actual reason we started complimenting each other..." Matthew responded, obviously flustered. Todd shrugged and set the knife down.
The pair awkwardly stared at each other for a long time, as if having a staring contest. Todd broke the eye-to-eye contact with Matthew, red-faced. "This is awkward, I-I'm gonna go catch some z's." Todd collected his stuff and rushed out of the room, hearing the prince say something while he was leaving, "Bye, Todd!" Todd locked the door behind himself and went to the counter near the bar's entrance. 'I guess I'll just sleep here tonight to watch on the prince.'

He thought to himself, laying down on the floor. He took his hat and fake mustache off, leaving them on the floor nearby. He shoved his knifes and guns under the hat and yawned. 'Do I really want to sell the prince off?' He frowned. 'What am I even thinking?! Of course I want to! That's thousands of dollars right there!' He turned onto his other side.

'And I'll lose my only friend. Wait... what?! He's not my friend! I kidnapped him and he hates me!' Todd rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling. 'He's the only person in this entire world that cares about me, and I'm about to sell him to get a bit of money. Why can't I just be a normal bartender? Why can't I become friends with the prince? He even got me to blush! Why is that?'

Todd brought his hands up and covered his face, feeling it heat up. 'I'm just acting like one of those lovesick people. Over a prince that would never even like me. Why am I overthinking everything?! Now I'm making him some kind of romantical figure of some sort... what?!' Needless to say, Todd didn't get much sleep that night.

- Time Skip -

The next day, Todd was supposed to sell Matthew off. It was morning at the moment, and Matthew was due by noon. Todd was a bit torn, finding that he actually enjoyed the young prince's company. Sure, he was an annoying brat, but Todd liked that about him. Todd found it strange that Matthew loved himself so much, but his love for hinself was contagious.

Todd shook his head, trying to make his thoughts leave him alone. He stood at the counter of the bar, sipping some whiskey out of a wine glass. 'It'll be thousands of dollars. Thousands. But is it really worth thousands to lose a friend? He's the only one that knows about my true self...' "Tch. Of course, I'm chickening out last minute." He chuckled pitifully, taking another sip of whiskey.

"I'll lose a friend and get the money. That's how it's always been." He looked down at the counter, gathering his thoughts. He tried to make himself believe that everything was going to be fine, and being without Matthew would be fine. He told himself that Matthew would have him hung if he released him now. He wouldn't like him in either a friendly way or a romantical way, right?

'There's really only one choice to make. The right one.' Was caring more about money than someone's life really the right choice? Todd wasn't sure, but he tried to force himself to do it.

At noon, everything was set. The bar was closed, but a group of bandits were allowed in. Prince Matthew was tied up with ropes and had a cloth wrapped around his head, covering his mouth. He ready to be sold off, just as planned. The leader of the criminal group dropped a sack filled with gold coins onto the counter, smiling.

"Here's the pay for your business. We'll be taking the prince now, right Jeannette?" A female stepped forward, nodding. "I'll take the prince out of your hair, thank you." Todd didn't know why, but he reached into his hat. He pulled a gun out and shot the female just as she grabbed the prince's arm. The group's leader was stunned, watching Jeannette fall to the floor and go limp.

"Red, we had a deal!" He brought his own gun out, shooting at Todd. It grazed Todd's cheek, leaving a bloody line. Todd pointed his gun at the gang's leader and fired multiple times, hitting a few other criminals in the group as well as the leader.

Prince Matthew went wide-eyed as Todd continued to fire rounds until every criminal was sprawled out on the wooden floor. Todd growled and threw his gun across the room, hearing it hit the wall as he got a new bottle of whiskey. He poured the whiskey into a wine glass and drank out of it, glancing at the prince. "You're welcome, or whatever." He grumbled, setting the wine glass down.

He trudged over to the prince and untied him from the ropes, the prince taking the gag off afterward. "You're... not going to sell me off? B-but..." He averted his gaze to the corpses, thinking about what just happened. "I got my money anyway, so it doesn't really matter." He nudged at the sack of gold coins. "I... am so confused."

"Princely, I'll just spit it out. Pretty boys like you get their way, no matter what the situation is. I just... couldn't find it in my heart to do it."

Todd's cheeks reddened, so he looked away and adjusted his hat to hide his face a bit more. Matthew was at a loss for words at the moment, staring at Todd. They both didn't know what to say to each other until Matthew went to the opposite side of the counter. "What're you doin'? Are you gonna leave and get the sheriff?" Todd questioned. Matthew shook his head and grinned.

"I still haven't gotten my wine from earlier, Todd." Todd sent Matthew a confused look and the young prince giggled. "C'mon! We can drink to our fading health, and I'll count it as a date." Todd's blush spread across his face and he gawked at the Brit. "Are-are you serious?" "Yeah, why? You're a very interesting man, Todd." "You're teasin' me. Makin' me look like an idiot."

The Brit set his hand down on the counter near Todd's and tilted his head. "You just act tough, but you're really just a normal guy. I can see that now." Matthew slowly sneaked his hand into Todd's.

"I want to try many things while I'm still young. To be truthful, you're clever and confusing, and I like that. It sounds strange, but you're a really interesting person. I've told you that many times, I know." Matthew shrugged his shoulders.

"Maybe we should... take this slow. Learn more about each other before diving into a deep relationship, y'know? We can be friends for a while at first... because... we haven't known each other for very long. Do you get what I'm saying?" "Yeah... I think." Todd looked away, not wanting the prince to see his cute face. "You're so cute, and I love you Matthew!"

In the real world, Tord look the old book out of Matt's hands. "I don't think it says that, Mattie." "Yeah! Todd and Prince Matthew fell in love!" Tord flipped through the book, not even finding the section about Todd meeting the prince. "Matt... there are no pages about the bartender and the prince. They just go to England and stuff happens there." "Oh! Well, I might've changed the story a bit..." Tord smiled and rolled his eyes.

"Matt, you're so weird." "Weirdly handsome! Like, supernaturally handsome." Matt brought a mirror out from behind his back, presumably getting it out of midair. "Yeah, you're pretty cute." Tord rested his head on Matt's shoulder as Matt looked into his mirror. "Peek-a-boo!" Matt said, Tord sticking his tongue out. "You're such a nerd, Mattie."

(Wow. My brain is dead from writing all of that.)
