3rd Person POV:
Tord was sitting in an alleyway he'd become familiar with in the past months. His decision to leave his army behind and start a new life was taking quite a toll on him. He coughed and leaned back onto the wall of a random building, feeling tired and a bit hungry. To his dismay, it started to rain. 'Shit. I hope this one doesn't last for too long...'
He sighed, pulling his hood over his head. Even though his hood was on, his horned hair stuck out. After a short while of getting soaked, Tord heard footsteps nearby. This was normal, so Tord didn't lift his head. The footsteps stopped and Tord sighed. 'Yup. Stare at me. A filthy, bloody homeless person.' The footsteps started up again, becoming louder. Tord finally looked up when the rain wasn't reaching him anymore. His eye widened and he paused.
"Hello there! Why are you outside when it's raining?" The familiar ginger asked, holding a purple umbrella over both of them. Tord stayed silent, not sure how to reply. "Uhm... hello?" Tord decided that he could respond with a lower pitch to his voice. "...Hei." "Woah... you're all wet!" "...Yeah, I guess I am."
Matt tilted his head. He couldn't tell who Tord was because of the hood over his head and bandages wrapped around half of his face. Matt reached his hand out to Tord, smiling brightly. "Come on, you should head home." "...I don't exactly have one." Matt's hand fell for a moment, but he brought it back up. "Well, you can stay at my place! I walked a long way to get here, but... y'know." Tord hesitated to accept Matt's offer.
'Tom and Edd will take turns kicking my ass if I do this...' Matt didn't wait for an answer. He just took Tord's hand in his and pulled Tord up to his feet. "You'll love my place! It's pretty great." 'How did he even find me?! How long has he been walking? I moved to another city to avoid meeting him and everyone I used to know!' Tord noticed that Matt was walking away, so he ran to catch up with him. 'Why am I following him?' Even though Tord was thinking this, he continued walking with Matt.
Soon, Matt stopped at a gas station. Tord pulled his hood down more when he saw Tom sitting outside, holding a bottle of Smirnoff. Luckily, Tom seemed to be too drunk to recognize Tord. "Matt... who the- who the fuck is-is t-that?" "He's my new friend! He's just staying with me for a bit." Tom stood up, a bit wobbly. 'Thank god. He's drunk off his ass. Wait... Matt can drive?'
"Tom! How much did you drink?" "Not much, w-why?" "How are we supposed to get home?!" "You drive or what-whatever." Matt looked at Tord, a little nervous. "Is there any possible way that... you can drive?" Tord nodded and looked around for their car. "Oh, good! We used Edd's car, that one over there." Matt pointed, but Tord already knew.
"Alright, get Tom and we can get going." Matt's usual smile came onto his face and he went over to get home. "Tom, where's the keys?" Matt asked, side-hugging Tom to keep him stable. Tom dug into his hoodie pocket and gave Matt the keys. "Here, catch!" Matt tossed the keys to Tord, who caught it with his good arm. "One-handed! Are you a baseball player or something?" Tord chuckled and grinned for what felt like the first time in... a year? 'Time flies.'
"No, but thanks for the compliment." Matt giggled and started walking to the car. Tord used the keys to unlock it and get it going while Matt helped Tom into the car. Matt got into the passenger's seat next to Tord and hummed a random tune as Tord started driving. "Where are we headed?" "Oh, right. We're going to..." Matt stated the apartment complex and Tord used the fastest route to get there.
"So... how've you been?" Tord had many answers to that question, but he chose the happiest response. "I'm fine. A bit hurt, but fine." Matt glanced at him. "We should get your bandages changed when we get to my place." Tord tensed up and went silent. 'Would he notice who I was if he saw me without the bandages? Man... I've really fucked up this time.'
"Sir... what's your name? I'm Matt!" Tord thought of a name that was close to his name, just so it wouldn't feel like he was lying. "My name's Todd." Matt flinched, but his bubbly attitude returned. "O-oh! Todd, that's a nice name!" Tord felt a bit curious, and he knew he was probably being to obvious when he asked, "Why'd you flinch?" Silence overcame the car, and it made it feel stuffy. Tord opened his window a small bit.
"Todd... is close to the name of someone that... used to be somewhat close to me." Tord bit his lower lip. "Oh... really? Used to be?" Matt fiddled with his fingers, a nervous habit of his. "I'll... I'll tell you some other time." "Ah, okay. You don't have to say it if you don't want to." Matt gulped and set his hands down on his legs. "...Okay. Thanks for understanding."
Tord nodded and pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complex Matt told him about. "Yay! We're home!" Matt said, getting out of the car after Tord parked it. Matt helped Tom out and Tord left the car, tugging on his hood. If Edd saw him, well... many things could possibly go wrong. He's so close to having a temporary home! Tord locked the car and Matt brought Tom inside. Tord hesitated, but followed.
"Hey, do you wanna meet Edd? I'm not sure if he left to do that... what was he gonna do?" "He was g-gonna check on our old neighbors." Tom replied. Tord forced himself to not flinch. "Oh... right." Everyone loaded into the elevator and Tord tapped his heel on the ground as it went up. When it opened, Tord walked slowly behind Tom and Matt. Matt knocked on Edd's door, but no response came.
"I guess you'll have to meet him later. He loves Cola and puns!" Tord let out a shallow sigh. "Sounds good, Matt." Tom went to his apartment door and punched it. "Tom, silly! Use your key!" Tom glanced at Matt and scratched his hair. Tord and Matt awkwardly watched as it fell out of his hair and landed on the ground. "Tom is... something." Matt whispered to Tord. "Apparently so." Tord said.
Tom went into his apartment and Tord followed Matt into Matt's apartment. "Alright, let's get your bandages changed." "U-uhm... actually... I don't want you to see what the injury looks like... it's gross..." Matt put a hand on Tord's shoulder. "Don't be shy! I won't judge." 'Damnit.' "N-no, I'm too scared to show you...?" Matt tilted his head and shrugged. "If it's private right now, that's fine. The bathroom's over there if you need it. I'll be on the couch!"
Matt sat down on his purple sofa and turned the tele on while Tord rushed to the bathroom. Tord shut the door behind himself and leaned against it for a moment. "Phew..." He rummaged through the cuboards for bandages and something to keep his wounds from becoming infected. He started cleaning himself, hearing zombie noises from outside.
'Heh. He still watches Insane Zombie Pirates from Hell. Nice.' After getting new bandages on, he left the bathroom and went back to Matt. He sat on the purple couch and watched the movie with Matt.
- Time Skip (a few weeks) -
Tord wasn't sure how nobody had recognized him yet, but he was doing well. He became closer to Matt and listened to whatever he had to say. Matt had already explained who Tord was, and he seemed upset about the entire situation. How Tord was taking over Britain, made them all move out, decked him in the face. Tord just hoped that he could show his true appearance someday soon. Maybe... today?
Tord was sitting on the couch next to Matt, thinking. 'What would be a good way to introduce myself without scaring him?' "Matt..." "Yeah? What's up?" "Well... because I trust you... do you want to see my injuries?" 'Bad plan. Bad plan. Abort!' "Sure! Man, I've been so curious!" Matt stood up and Tord tried to keep himself calm. 'Someone will finally know who I am. I won't have to hide anymore.'
Matt headed off to the bathroom and Tord came with him. Tord sat down on the closed toilet lid and watched Matt gather the materials necessary. "I'm so excited!" "Yeah... me too..." Matt set the stuff down on the counter while Tord peeled his bandages off. After a bit, Tord looked down so Matt wouldn't see. "C'mon! Lemme see!" Matt lifted Tord's head and pulled his hood off. He yelped and backed up, cowering against the bathroom door. "T-Tord?! Why are- where's- what's going on?!"
Tord stood up and approached Matt. "Matt, I'm sorry. I knew you the whole time. I just... I'm sorry for causing so much trouble..." Matt brought a shaky hand up to Tord's face. He gently poked at Tord's scarred face, making Tord wince. "Oops... s-sorry..." "Nah, it's alright." "Tord... you've been Todd... my head hurts..." "I had a character for a while, but now, it's really me. I left the army, Matt." Matt calmed down a bit and stood taller.
"T-Tord... I don't know what to say... this is so weird..." Tord had a hopeful look on his face. 'So... does he forgive me or not?' Matt looked at him, observing him and his new look. 'The same horned hair. The same smirk. Still loves red.' Matt thought to himself. He gave Tord a small smile and hugged him. "Welcome back b-buddy..." Tord smiled and hugged back, resting his head on Matt's shoulder.
"It's good to see you... sorry for hitting you... kinda... blowing your house up..." Matt didn't respond, but he did release Tord. He started cleaning Tord's wounds and wrapped bandages around them.
"Yeah... it's fine. It's just... y'know what, let's go play video games or something." Tord chuckled. "Sounds good to me. Let's go!" Tord and Matt went to the couch and played 'Mario Kart', chatting as they played. "Not the fucking blue shell!" Tord whined, making Matt giggle. "You suck at this game!" "No! I just... haven't played it in a long while...?" Matt easily beat him in that round. "Hahah!" "Don't rub it in!"
