Chapter 5 - Brains over Brawn
" I won't allow you to cause any more destruction!" A voice shouted.
Before getting an opportunity to turn around to see who shouted, the earth began to shake violently.
The building that the intruder stood on top of started crumbling, causing them to lose balance, shooting the sphere of destruction upwards which then exploded in the sky as if it were fireworks.
A large thick cloud of dust now filled the air, so thick it was almost impossible to see your own palms if you held them right in front of your face.
Only the sounds of fighting could be heard, coming from every single direction.
Moments passed and the cloud slowly began to clear up, returning just enough sight to see that there was a change in landscape.
The once tall standing building was totally destroyed, now nothing more than a large pile of rubble.
There was also a large division in the earth that traveled from where the building once stood towards the teacher in the brown suit, he was stooping on one knee with his palm pressed against the ground.
"Buried alive? I wouldn't call that much of a victory. Leave it to Alex to suck all the fun out of the fights." The muscular teacher sighed at his comrade in the brown suit as he and the woman beside him walked over.
However he ignored his well built friend, he instead kept his eyes focused on the rubble.
"Oh sorry Mr. Alexander Brown, I didn't realize that Alex wasn't professional enough for you." He teased. Knowing that Alexander took everything seriously he assumed the reason he was ignored was because of the way he addressed him.
"Jason will you please shut the hell up!" The woman snapped. "Countless lives would have been lost if he didn't act when he did and all you're thinking about is having fun."
"You say that like it's a bad thing Stella, it's been ages since I've had a decent workout." He smirked at woman as he began wiping the splattered blood stains of monsters off his arm.
"I WILL hit you." She threatened the man now known as Jason who began to sweat heavily after hearing these words.
"Impossible!" Alexander thought out loud. His eyes then began to frantically look over the rubble.
"What's wrong? What are you looking for Alex?" Jason turned his attention towards his friend after realizing that he was tense, far from his usual calm and collected mindset.
"He's probably looking for the body." A voice from above chuckled.
The three turned their attention in the direction that they heard this and their eyes widened at what they saw, looking at it in disbelief.
What they saw was the same individual, standing on top of another nearby school building, unscathed and without even a speck of dust on their clothing.
"Did you really think that was enough to get rid of me?" The person asked as they looked down at the three while giving a magnanimous gesture, having both hands apart with palms facing their opponents seeming almost God like.
They were all a bit stunned when they heard this, even though it was not Alexander's strongest attack it was one that should have been able to restrict their enemy's movements and inflict some sort of injury yet their attacker seemed to be untouched.
"How's that possible? Show your face! We deserve to see who we're fighting!" Jason Shouted.
"I do not intend on revealing my identity, why else would I have worn this mask?" They chuckled after pulling back the hood of the cloak revealing a mask.
This mask had a rather ominous look yet at the same time it was almost hysterical in nature.
The right half of the mask was black, on it you could see a white lipped frown, a frown so gloomy it could make a sunny day feel like a rainy one. On the left half it was the opposite, this half was white, pasted on it was a bright black lipped smile, this smile was so bright that it could light up an entire room.
The mask was not yet complete without two images just beneath the dark eye holes of the mask, on the right there was a white star and on the left a black teardrop. This mask hid their entire face.
A black neck and head cap was also worn. Similar to that of which a ninja would wear, not allowing any skin or hair to be visible.
"Tell us who you are. Why are you doing this?" A frustrated Stella asked.
"I am nothing more than the Reaper of Souls and the Harbinger of Death." They answered.
"You there, I must commend you on your attack from earlier. I didn't expect that someone like you would be able to catch me off guard like that." Alexander was praised "I'll tell you this much, I'm a person who frowns upon the act of being in debt, so allow me to return the favor."
An incredible amount of power began leaking from their opponent once more, so powerful that the dark aura around them could actually be seen.
Now concluding that they were not up against any normal person Alexander immediately thought about the safety of the students however, Jason was thrilled about having such a powerful opponent and was dying to fight.
"Go, protect the students. I can take care of this myself." Alexander fanned off his allies. "I can't fight at full power knowing that they might be in harms way."
Alexander then looked over to where the two stood to ensure that they retreated safely but only saw one, Stella.
"Since you're not going to show us your face I'll just have to rip it right off!" Jason yelled.
As if he didn't hear Alexander earlier, Jason had already leaped high into the air, he took off with such an incredible force that he left a small crater in the ground marking where he previously stood, now defying gravity he was running straight up the walls of the building.
"That fool." Alexander scoffed.
"Don't do anything stupid!" Stella warned knowing that Jason was a very reckless person, not thinking things through before acting, he just went with the flow.
"There's no stopping him when he gets riled up like this, all we can do is wait for him to slip up and use that opportunity." Alexander told Stella after calming himself.
Jason continued to run upwards, with his fist now tightly clenched all he could think about was burying it in his opponent's face.
He may have been a bit big in body, however Jason was far from slow.
Seeing that it wouldn't take Jason a long time to reach the top, the masked person decided that it would be best to blow him up in his tracks so they pointed their palm towards Jason and the dark energy concentrated into a very large sphere.
"I wouldn't have imagined that suicide was your thing." They said to Jason while waiting for the perfect moment to blow him up.
In order to make it more difficult to get hit, Jason started to run up the building in a zigzag fashion.
He was so fast that while he ran blurs were behind him which later materialized and it now looked as if there were ten of him running up the wall side by side.
"Just try and shoot me now." The Jasons dared in sync.
Without replying, multiple dark spheres were blasted from the larger one, reducing in size after each blast.
They all exploded on contact, shaking the building and leaving craters in the walls.
The closer they got the more the numbers were cut down, until only he was left.
Being only about ten feet away from the top he had no intention of slowing down any time soon.
His masked opponent stood on top of the roof calmly, without showing a single sign of nervousness, instead they seemed quite confident. As if they had already won.
Too caught up in the moment Jason wan't able to pick up on such small details and immediately launched himself towards his enemy after making it to the roof of the building.
He wasn't even paying much attention to his surroundings only focused on the person he saw in front of him.
While charging forward he came to a sudden halt, his legs felt as if something was holding it.
Looking down to see what it was that hindered him from taking a step forward Jason saw that his right leg was caught by a hand that stuck out of a small swirling black hole, similar to what was leaking monsters onto the campus.
"What's going on?" He asked now taking the time out to look carefully at his opponent.
After his observation, Jason then realized that the masked person had their own hand in a similar black hole, they were connected which means that the hand that held onto his leg was that of the person standing right in front of him.
"Another rip in space? No, this is a bit different. What is this?" Jason questioned unable to make sense of the situation.
The hole began spreading to a wider surface and Jason began to get pulled in, he tried to free himself but failed to do so, instead he began to sink in the hole as if he was standing on quicksand.
"This is nothing more than a burial." The masked person laughed as they waved goodbye.
