Topic 1: What do you think about the traffic systems in our city nowadays ?

I think nowadays, the traffic system in our city are much better than they were five year ago. As you can see, there are many wide and nice roads upgraded and built recently such as Lien Chieu-Thuan Phuoc road, Ngo Quyen streets. At the crossroads, many traffic light are put. The government has launched the campaign “Safety traffic” all over the country and issued many new traffic laws to reduce accidents. You can see many traffic police along the streets. They will fine you if you park your motorbikes to the police station. Motorist must have driving licence and must wear safety helmet when travelling on One-National Road. High school students must not go to school by motorbike. Safety traffic laws are taught at school. Thanks to these laws, their number of accidents is decreasing.

Topic 2:  What do you think one should do to quit smoking ?

Everyone knows smoking is harmful to your health. It causes lung cancer, cough, throat and teeth problems. But a lot of men in the world are still addicted to smoking. As you know smoking is are addiction. So, it’s not easy to quit smoking. I know some men spend more money on cigarettes than food. If you want to stop smoking, you must have determination. You must understand bad effects of smoking on health and it cost a lot of money, too. In my opinion, instead of smoking, you can chew gums or eat chocolate, candies. You should spend time playing sports, outdoor such as tennis, football. You can play computer games and never think of cigarettes. You should spend your time learning and working. I’m sure a girl never wants to have a boyfriend who smokes a lot.

Topic 5: what do you think an ideal family is ?

I think an ideal family must have love, health and work. In an ideal family, all the members are happy. They understand, love and help each other Parents work to earn money for the family. They are responsible for their children. Children are well-educated and study well. Husband and wife love each other. Husband is a breadwinner of the family. All the members of family share difficulties and responsibilities. I know that some rich family are not always happy. They often have an argument about money. Children are spoilt due to the lack of parent’s care. They may commit crimes like drug addiction. Money is important but it can’t make  a family happy. But a poor family is not an ideal one. I hope I will have a happy family in the future.

Topic 6: Why do you thinks many people should save their money ?

I think every day we work to earn money. We usually spend money of food, clothes, books, house, ects. We all want to have a happy and comfortable life. But when having money, we shouldn’t spend all the money. Saving money is very important. As you know, in our life, there are case such as illness, accidents, house, especially, when you have children, you need money to build your own house and bring up your children untill they graduate from college. That costs a lot of money. In emergency, for example, your parents get ill, you must look after them. We should “Neither be a borrower nor a lender like Shakespear’s saying. Savings can help you to solve many problems in our life. We will feel independent and confident if we have some money in the bank. And saving help you to have a good future.

Topic 7: It is said that smoking can damage your health. What’s your opinion ?

Most people know that smoking is very harmful to health. Books, magazines say a lot about the damage of smoking. Smoking causes lung cancer. 90 percent of the people who get lung cancer die. Besides, smokers may have cancers of the mouth, tongue, and throat. Some smokers will cough when they get old. Smoking also gives people breathing problems. As you know, women live longer than men because men smoke more than women. The news TV says that pregnant women who smoke will have bad effects on the babies. Smokers also breathe out badly, make nonsmokers nearby feel sick. I don’t like to sit near a heavy smoke, I can’t stand smoke and smell from him.

Topic  9: What are some social problems that we are facing now.

Nowadays, our government are facing some social problems such as unemployment, overpopulation, environment pollution, heroine addiction, crime, AIDS.

As you know, it’s not easy for a university graduate to find suitable job in our society. So, the government have “open policy” to attract foreign investments. More factories will give job  to the youth. About overpopulation, the government are educating people to limit the size of family. Each family must have one or two children so that parents can look after children well. The government have many solutions to environment solution. Many dustbin are put along the streets. Waste water is treated before running into the river. Heroine addiction, crime and aids are serious social problems. The police are trying to find heroine addiction. Aid patients are looked after with medicine.

Topic 7: Why should we keep our environment clean?

Our environment is seriously polluted. People and the industries are polluting the air, water, land and food. In our city, smoke, industrial and household waste, noise are getting worse and worse. They affect baddy our life.

We breathe the air, and if we stop breathing, we will die. The air we breathe contains oxygen which is very important for our life. But it has reached intolerant level by the amount of carbon monoxide causing from smoke of vehicles, factories. So, if the government do not control vehicles emitting pollutants, relocate the factories outside the city, the health of every citizen is being alarming.

A part from this, I think the government should establish more factories to recycle garbage, which is probably the best way of disposing of household waste. Besides, people should be mobilized to tidy up their houses and the streets they live in. They should also plant trees and grow forests to preserve their environment.

Everyone should be aware of protecting our planet from pollution. If we destroy it, we will destroy ourselves too. Therefore, we should keep environment clean to help our life

Topic: Your last vacation /A holiday you have spent

Last summer holiday, in order to escape the extreme heat of Danang city, my family and I decided to go to Dalat. We went there by bus.

When we got this mountainous and wonderful city, it was getting dark. We felt very excited because of the nice weather and the fresh air. We stayed in Hoa Hong hotel, a little but comfortable one in the centre of the city.

The next day we went shopping in Hoa Binh market and, caught some fresh air by sitting near the Xuan Huong lake. We had lunch in a nice restaurant near the garden of flowers. The food was delicious and cheap especially the vegetables. In the afternoon, we took a taxi to visit the Valley of the Love. How beautiful it was! The following day was for visiting Prenn Waterfall, the Than Tho lake and the Hills of Pine. Every spot has its own beauty, I could say which is the best. People are friendly and polite, especially young Dalat girls with their pink cheeks.

This wonderful holiday helped us to get rid of worries and trouble and gave us health and enthusiasm to resume work again. It was an interesting and unforgettable holiday.

Topic: Your plans during this summer.

Summer comes together with its extreme heat and nobody can resist the desire to spend their holiday at the seaside. Thus, my plan during this summer is to visit Nha Trang a wonderful city by the beach.

Arriving in Nha Trang I hope to take long walks, to run and jump on the thin sand of the beach. Then, I am going to eat fresh sea food, to build sand castles, to lie in the sun, to breathe clean and fresh air. In addition to this, I would like to watch the sunrise every early morning and sunset every late evening. I would also like trying scuba diving to discover the new world under the sea. Moreover, I plan to visit Ponagar tower which is a very famous  spot in Khanh Hoa. Of course, I am going to take a lot of photographs.

I wish I cound realize my cheerful plans this summer holidays.

Topic: Do you like travelling by car ? Why or why not ?

Each mean of transport has their own advantages and disadvantages, so does car. In my opinion, I like most travelling by car for these reason:

First, going by car is cheap, safe and comfortable. You can spend time listening to your favourite music, reading books or watching the beautiful scenery along the road. Moreover, you are now worried about the heat from the sun, or the rain. You feel certainly easy and relaxing in an air conditioned car.

Secondly, with a car, you are quite free with the time and the place. You can start whenever you like and stop where ever you want. Of course, there are some disadvantages in using this means of transport. It is likely to have accidents and easily to meet traffic jams. But for me, it is the most convenient mean of transportation.

 Topic: Advantages and disadvantages of living in the big city?

While many old people dream of peaceful countryside and pure air, most young ones prefer life in towns, especially in big cites. In fact, city life has shown lots of advantages:

The town can provide people with all comforts and conveniences such as electricity, drinking water, good means of transportation and various kind of entertainment. We can by everything we need, get all service quickly and easily. Moreover, we can learn all kind of subject we want and we expect to find jobs that are both interesting and well paid!

However, life in city is threatened by polluted air, car accidents and traffic jams. It is difficult to enjoy fresh air and pure atmosphere in places where careless drivers and fool motorcyclists can lead us to death. Besides, due to industrial development, citizens behaviour is becoming indifferent and unfriendly. We cannot have time to visit each other, to live in warm atmosphere as in the country side.

To sum up, it is easy to understand the reason why young people prefer to live in exciting cities because they hope to enjoy the benefits of the modern life.

Topic: Living in the countryside or living in the city, which is better ? give reasons for your opinion.

Although I have spent most of my life in the city, I always prefer to live in the country rather than in the city.

First, living in the country we can enjoy fresh and pure air all year whereas the city atmosphere is seriously polluted.

Secondly, we can live a safe and peaceful life in the country where the people are friendly and helpful. On the contrary, the modern life in big city is often attached to traffic jams, car accidents, drug addiction, robberies… It is dangerous when you are on the streets, especially at night.

Third, nothing can be compare with beautiful sceneries at dusk and dawn in the countryside. They help us relax wonderfully after a hard day’s work while bad things in dancing clubs, pubs, karaoke shop are ruining citizens’body and soul.

However, country life is still less comfortable and civilized than town life.

In my opinion, living in the countryside is really better than in a city. And I hope that the Vietnamese countryside life is as comfortable as the one developed countries.
