In the Hospital
Josh opens his eyes, squinting at the bright lights and the person standing over him.
"Josh! Oh my gosh, Josh, I am incredibly sorry for what happened yesterday. I really am, Josh, it's all my fault that this happened to you. I'm so sorry!" Tyler says, talking quickly out of excitement.
"Wh-what? What are you talking about?" Josh says, still feeling tired.
"You don't remember?" Tyler questions, yawning from lack of sleep. "You fell off the stage...and it's all my fault. I'm really sorry," he says.
"Oh yeah, that. It's not your fault, Tyler. Where am I?" Josh says drowsily, looking around him.
"It is my fault, but whatever. You're in the hospital. You got knocked unconscious after you fell. Must've hit your head. I thought you were dead, Josh!" Tyler says, sounding worried and looking Josh up and down for injuries.
"Yes," a voice said at the door of the hospital room. It was the doctor, a tall, balding, old man. "Josh took a pretty big fall there, but I am happy to report that he'll be just fine." At this, Tyler sighs heavily in relief. "But he won't be able to do much for a while. He has a minor concussion, along with 3 fractured ribs, a broken left arm, and two broken legs. He is expected to fully recover from all of his injuries. Tyler sighs an even bigger sigh of relief.
"C-can I still play my drums?" Josh asks, coughing.
"No, absolutely not. You will be able to play them again in about 8 months. But just to be safe, you should wait nine." The doctor says, shaking his head.
Josh looks at Tyler, distraught. "What are we gonna do, Tyler?" Josh asks.
"I have no idea. We can't go on tour anymore." Tyler sighs.
"You can go on tour. You might be missing the drums, but you can do a great job by yourself, too!" Josh says, looking up at Tyler and smiling.
"No Josh! I'm not going on tour without you. No Josh, no tour. I'm staying here. I can't just let my best friend be hurt like this and leave him!" Tyler exclaims, sitting down on the hospital bed and giving Josh a half smile.
Josh smiles and looks at his arms, covered in all kinds of wires and patches. "Dang, I really scratched myself up out there, didn't I?"
"Yeah, you really did. Again, I'm sorry. I should've listened to you. It's all my fault you're like this." Tyler says, looking upset.
"Tyler, it's not your fault!!" Josh says stubbornly. Tyler is taken aback by Josh's harsh tone. "It was my fault for climbing after you. I should've trusted your climbing skills. You know Tyler, you're really good at climbing stages."
Tyler laughs softly. "Thanks, Josh. It's not your fault, though. Let's stop arguing about whose fault it is and just be glad that you aren't hurt any worse than you are."
