79: Is This Fun For You

"Is this fun for you, Kirari?" Terano inquired. "Watching the branch families running themselves ragged over you?"

"Yes." Kirari smiled as you laughed silently. You didn't want to insult the branches, but Kirari was too much sometimes. "Very much so."

"You always were that way." Terano mentioned nostalgically. "First, you take with ease what we've striven hard to reach... Then you simply let it go with abandon, giving us a chance to attain it. Looking at how you act..."

The room went cold. Terano's face became demonic and her intonation matched her face.

"We utterly loathe you." She declared.

The children of the branch family nodded in agreement.

Yuriko looked distressed and you pet her hand comfortingly. The message was very clear. The previous council members and the entire academy were about to be devoured by the branch families; all on your orders.

But hey, who said there was anything wrong with starting from scratch? If the foundation was cracked, you needed to demolish the whole house if you were going to live in it ever again.

"There is no way this will be allowed! It will topple all sense of order in this school!" Yuriko's words escaped her lips. "Please, President... Princess... reconsider this. I'm sure everyone else agrees with me, yes?!"

You glanced around the room. Then, you motioned for Midari to speak.

"Eheheh! This looks like a crapload of fun. Let's do it!" Midari backed you, as you knew she would. "Well... I doubt any of you are up to Yumeko's level, but..."

Yumemi jumped in. She would support you until the end.

"If that's our princess's and our president's choice, then so be it." She added, although her thoughts were more on her career than on the student council.

"Igarashi-san?" Yuriko turned to her.

"Yes?" She responded plainly.

"What do you think of this? All this election does is hurt the president's position." That's a good angle, Yuriko. You thought. "If you care about her, you should maker her stop this at--"

"No." The bluntness of the response even surprised you a bit. "I am here solely to be by both the president's and the princess's side and support them."

"Calm down, Yuriko." The president spoke up.

"Huh?" She was surprised.

"If you want the status quo... you can have it if you get elected. You have every chance to do that. After all..." Kirari crossed her legs. "This election will be solely decided through gambling and everyone has been given an equal chance."

"Sayaka, could you please make an announcement and post it in the hallway for me?" You inquired. "I cannot wait for the hallways to erupt with the clamor of excitement and fear! You know how the students handle change."

"Yes, at once, Princess." Sayaka noted and left swiftly.

"The rest of you..." You smiled up at them and stood in front of them. "We must go get your class schedules. Some of you are bound to be with me in class."

You paused for a moment.

"While we're making a clean slate, why don't we give up the show?" You turned to the rest of the ex-council members. "I shall reveal myself as Princess as well. The less liability, the better in this game anyway."

Kirari shook her head with a wicked grin.

"Princess, I do believe you're trying to get me to fall in love with you."
