14: Will Do

"Will do, YN!" She set about getting students spreading the news.

It was only minutes before the entire cafeteria was filled to the brim and you were sure that the student council had tuned the television on to the cafeteria broadcast.

"So, about the type of gambling we'll be doing..." Itsuki began to explain her own personal, complex game that she had created. That was one thing that most of the student council had a huge interest in creating their own gambling games. You very seldom played and even more seldom gambled with money, but even you had to admit that they were all geniuses in their own way. "How do you feel about Double Concentration?"

Itsuki went on to explain how the game worked as Midari left to go eat her lunch and watch the match from the student council room.

Not content with being by yourself, you decided to stand next to Ryota once again.

"H-Hello, LN-san?" He greeted you and bowed his head. He wasn't sure how to address you.

"Hi!" You faced him with a big smile, causing him to blush and look away. "You can just call me YN like everyone else, Suzui!"

"Oh! Uh, alright... You can probably jut call me Ryota then..."

"Now," Itsuki finished her explanation and got your attentions once again. "About how much we bet... Twenty-one million yen chips issued by the student council." She held out her perfectly manicured hand and held up two fingers. "What about 20 million yen?"

Of course she would start out so high. Itsuki is particularly well off. You thought as Yumeko looked down.

"Unfortunately, I no longer have that much money on me." She stated calmly. "I can't possibly raise 20 million yen."

"What?" Itsuki looked surprised. She probably assumed that everyone in the school was at least half as rich as she is. You thought as she went on talking. "You don't look like such a spendthrift." Then, a thought occurred to Itsuki. "Or wait, maybe you had some debt?"

Yumeko looked at Ryota, who immediately stuttered an apology, causing you to look up at him.

"No need to worry. I'll lend you 20 million at zero interest." Itsuki desperately wanted to gamble and this was her way of pressuring Yumeko.

"What would you gain from that?" Ryota eyed her suspiciously again.

"To be honest, 20 million is nothing to me." Itsuki looked quite proud to declare such a thing, something that often made you frown. Having been raised as royalty, it was well known to you that speaking about your financial status more than necessary was taboo. But Itsuki was nouveau riche and it didn't occur to her. "There's far more value to be had if you take an interest in our company's cards. It's part of my PR duties."

Ahh, so this is just another advertisement to her. You nodded your head in understanding.

"In that case, I accept." Yumeko looked renewed and ready to gamble.

"Okay. So, this gamble is on, right?" Itsuki turned and gazed at Yumeko with her big blue eyes. "As I explained just now, I'm breaking out two brand-new decks of cards. Our leading product, Raclette! It's the second-most popular brand in Japan! They fit in your hand like a glove! I hope you buy them!"
