When you think Pixar, you might think of computer animated movies with toys that can come to life and fish that can talk. You think of strange but intriguing stories with memorable jokes and serious moments with heart. Founded in 1986 after George Lucas sold the animation company to Steve Jobs, Pixar was responsible for making the first ever animated movie made from computer graphics, that film being Toy Story. That film was released literally a year before I was born in 1995. I've been a fan of Pixar since I was a child, and I remember watching a lot of them growing up. Most of them never cease to amaze me. While I personally favor traditional animation over CG animation, I still can't find any reason to hate Pixar. Even when some of the sequels might be cash grabs, the animators put their hearts and soul into each project that they do, and it never seems like the celebrity voice actors are phoning it in. It's practically tradition for a Pixar movie to win an Oscar for best animated feature.
But like DreamWorks Animation and Disney itself, Pixar has stumbled and fallen. I'm not saying some of their movies suck, but there have been some that have fallen under the radar or are often overshadowed by other more successful movies. Or they were victims of unfortunate circumstances such as an underwhelming box office return thanks to a global pandemic. I never imagined some of Pixar's later films such as Soul and Luca would be forced to go into streaming. And so in honor of Disney's 100th anniversary and to get ready for the upcoming Pixar film Elio that's coming next year, I'm going to talk about the Pixar movies I personally love that I feel don't get the same amount of love as Toy Story or Finding Nemo. But if you disagree with my list, that's okay. All of this is just my humble opinion with no political agenda whatsoever, so you can take my list with a grain of salt. So let's go grab some tea with Mrs Nesbit, and get to the countdown!
