#3. Toy Story 2

Toy Story 2 is the first sequel/second installment to the Toy Story franchise. Released on November 24th, 1999, the sequel sees Woody get kidnapped by a greedy toy collector, and he discovers that he's a popular collector's item from a TV show known as Woody's Roundup, introducing us to Woody's horse Bullseye, Jessie The Yodeling Cowgirl, and Prospector Stinky Pete. Buzz and the other toys go on a long journey to find and rescue Woody. Unlike Lightyear and despite a troubled production that involved a non-Pixar produced straight to video sequel almost getting made and the footage almost disappearing, Toy Story 2 was a smash hit at the box office, grossing $511 million and garnering rave reviews from critics, saying this sequel was better than the original.

Why would I say this film is underrated? Well, the sequel Toy Story 3 practically overshadowed the second film. Not without good reason though. Toy Story 3 is amazing, it's a great emotional sendoff for the characters, it earned a billion dollars at the box office, and it was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars! But nowadays, people favor Toy Story 3 over Toy Story 2, saying Toy Story 3 is the superior sequel. Me on the other hand, I favor the second film.

When I was a kid, I remember when my family owned a VHS copy of Toy Story 2. I actually watched that film first instead of the first film, ain't that ironic? Toy Story 2 was the first Pixar film I ever remember watching as a kid, it's how I became familiar with Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, and Emperor Zurg. Speaking of Zurg, this scene always made me laugh.

I also like the joke with the Rock'em Sock'em Robots.

There are so many scenes I remember from the film that I really liked, including the bloopers. I loved Toy Story 2 so much, I actually wanted toys of Woody and Buzz for Christmas. So yeah, I have a massive soft spot for Toy Story 2 due to it being a big part of my childhood. I honestly love it more than the first, third, and fourth film. I can say with pride that Toy Story 2 is my personal favorite Pixar movie next to Monster's Inc, Coco, and Ratatouille. So if you're feeling nostalgic for it, or if you need a reason to cry when it comes to Jessie's tragic backstory, I'd recommend watching Toy Story 2. It's the best sequel in my opinion.

And don't worry, I'll stop talking about Toy Story in this list. For now, I guess.
