Red Hot Jealousy

It felt good to be back home, walking through the halls of Hogwarts. But it didn't feel right. You felt empty. Alone. Without Cedric, what was the point? You bit your nails as you made your way towards potions. More bruises had blossomed on your face since the Holiday Ball. Your cheek bones ached every time you moved a muscle in your face. People had given you strange looks, wondering why your beautiful face was covered in dark bruises. But what was the explanation? That your father beat you? Anything but that.
Before you rounded the corner that led to Snape's classroom, you heard faint whispers. The voices sounded familiar but you couldn't quite place them. You peered around the wall, hiding in the darkness of the shadows. Your heart stopped, right before it shattered into a million pieces. It took everything you had not to turn around and run. Instead, you rooted yourself in place.  You could barely stand to watch. It was torture.
Cedric was leaning against the wall near the door to Snape's class. All his weight was balanced on his forearm, as he towered over a raven haired girl. His lips were pressed firmly onto hers. She pulled away, giggling. You anger seethed. He had a girlfriend? You squinted, trying to get a better look at the girl. The realization was immediate. A Ravenclaw. Cindy Chang. She had a younger sister in Matt's year. Cho maybe?
If you were a Slytherin, you had heard of Cindy Chang. And it was not a name that you wanted to hear often. Most people had a hard time seeing past her good-girl façade. Unless you were a Slytherin, in that case, you were an expert on picking out fake people and real people. Cindy Chang was a fake as you could get. She fooled most by making herself seem innocent and delicate, but she fed off of other people's misery. She manipulated people into helping her get what she wanted. As you recalled this, your temper skyrocketed. What could she possibly want from Cedric. You looked at them again.
A dazzling smile, was present on his lips. Identical to the one he had given you the first day you had met. Your heart ached. His hair was messy and he looked so care-free. His fingers were intertwined with hers, tightly. He looked happy. He had forgotten all about you. Turning away, you felt a familiar burning sensation in the back of your nose. No. You couldn't let yourself cry. Not over him. Not anymore. He had moved on. You anger turned to heartbreak as he moved to kiss her again. You had really lost him. You hadn't thought it possible, but you had.
You shook your head. You had watched for long enough. All you were doing was torturing yourself. Cedric didn't need you anymore. He had Cindy. And he was happy. You stepped out of the shadows and marched toward the door to Snape's classroom. Cedric glanced up at you. You swore you heard him gasp, but your eyes landed anywhere but on him. You could feel him staring at you, but it didn't matter. He made his choice. Cindy sneered as you walked past and pulled Cedric down for another kiss. He went willingly, peeling his eyes away from you. Your eyes burned as you held back tears.
Memories echoed in your head. All those nights you had shared in the astronomy tower, sharing secrets. All those promises you had made. All the time you had spent together, laying in each others arms. Comforting the other. Enjoying the company. All those memories were in the past. All those memories were beginning to fade away. You pushed open the door to the classroom, the scent of potions filling your lungs. The door shut behind you and you placed name to the feeling you hadn't been able to describe. A feeling you were ashamed of, but nonetheless you felt it, burning in your heart. Jealousy. Red hot jealousy.
