Chapter 9: I'm Going to Keep You

I was warm and cozy. There was an arm wrapped around me, keeping my back pressed tight against the source of the heat. There were soft lips pressed against my skin, right behind my ear. I sighed happily and snuggled back against him.

"Ellie," Hoseok whispered against my skin. "I have to go, Princess."

"Noooooooo," I whined at him. "You have to stay."

"I've already stayed longer than I should have, sweetheart," he said. He used his arm around me to turn me to face him. "It's almost 7 in the morning. My Appa is probably awake already. He's woken up at 6am his entire life."

"But you're so warm," I whined still, pressing my face into his neck and my body up against his. "Please stay."

"Ellie, I can't," he told me, kissing the top of my head. "Our parents..."

"My dad won't care."

"Maybe not," he said. He was talking about leaving, but his arms tightened around me. "But my parents are Korean. It's not the same. And stop the pouting. I can feel your bottom lip poking out from here."

I giggled as I put my lip back to its normal position. "Sorry. I just don't want you to go."

This time, he pulled back to look down at me before answering. "Do you think that I want to?" He asked, reaching up to brush some hair off my forehead. "That was the best that I've ever slept in my life."

I blinked at him for a moment as his words made something dawn on me. "You know....I've had insomnia since I was about 14-years-old," I told him. "I almost never sleep more than 2-3 hours a night."

He laughed at my words. "How do you function?"

I shrugged at him. "I just don't need a full 8 hours like most people. I've always been like that. My dad says it used to drive him crazy. I'd be like 8-years-old and he'd get up to check on me at 4am, and I'd just be reading under the covers."

"That's weird," he laughed. "Though I guess that I never sleep 8 hours, either. But I do need at least 6 to be able to get through the day."

"My point being," I said, reaching up to trace my fingers along his jawline. "I just slept the whole night. I didn't wake up once."

"And you think that it was because of me?" he asked, his voice sounding a bit surprised.

"You're the only differentiating factor here, sir," I told him.

"I have no idea what that word means."

"Differentiating?" I asked, and he nodded. "What I mean is that you're the only thing different than how I normally sleep. Therefore, I can only ascertain that-"

"It's too early for these big English words, teacher," he said, tickling my side lightly.

I giggled and pushed his hand away. "Hey, now! Don't start that again, Hoseok. I know where your ticklish spot is, too, and I have no problem using it against you."

He pulled his hand up in surrender. "Please continue, Eloise. But maybe with words that I actually know the meaning of, this time."

"You're the only thing different from my norm, Hobi," I told him, touching his shoulder. "So you must be the reason."

"It could just be a one-off," he told me. "We might have to experiment more to see if I'm really making a difference."

"I mean...I wouldn't kick you out of bed if you wanted to try it again," I laughed.

"That's good to know," he said, kissing the tip of my nose. "But at the moment, I am going to have to kick myself out of this bed."

I wrapped your arms back around him tightly. "Noooooooooo!"

"We could always get up and get ready to go to the museum."

"Ohhh...I had forgotten all about that," I said, looking at him.

"We don't have to go," he said. "We can find something else to do if it's not your thing."

"No, baby," I said, giving him a smile. "I want to. I like art, too, you know." I pointed at my chest. "Art teacher."

He laughed and nodded his head, then wacked it lightly with his palm. "Oh yeah! Duh!"

I giggled at him. I couldn't help it. He was just too damn cute.

"Can I be honest about something?" he asked me.

"Should I be scared?"

He laughed again and shook his head. "No. I was just going to tell you that I like when you call me 'baby.' It's cute."

"Well I feel the same when you call me 'Princess,' sir," I told him, then blushed a little. "Actually, it kinda gives me butterflies. Which is a weird saying, that I've never really understood until I met you."

He smiled at me and opened his mouth to say something, but then something crawled up under the covers to lay between us.

"What the he-" he started.

I laughed and pulled my arms from him to wrap around my dog. "Rizzo! Hi, little man." I leaned down to kiss his head and he snuggled it into my neck. "My sweet, little dude."

"Okay, this is going to be a problem," Hoseok laughed, but I could feel that he was petting the dog's back as he said it. "That's my girl, dude. You have to stop coming between us like that."

I laughed as Rizzo turned his head from me and snuggled it into Hoseok's neck instead. He froze for a moment, then laughed and rubbed his ear. "You little suck up," he told the dog. "You're making it really hard to be annoyed at you."

"That's the Rizzo Effect," I told him. "You can't help but feel instantly better any time he snuggles you. Even if there's nothing wrong. He just instantly makes your day brighter."

Hoseok laughed and nodded his head. "I can see that, actually," he told me.

I smiled brightly at him. "Good. Because if you do want to marry me, he's part of the package deal."

"Oh, I do, sweetheart," he leaned over Rizzo's head to kiss me softly. "And I have no problem with him being a part of it. I like your dog."

He kissed me again, then kissed Rizzo's head before pulling back. "Get up and get ready, Ellie," he said as he climbed out of bed. "We have a date planned."

I didn't move. I laid there and watched him as he stretched his hands up over his head, then tilted his body from side to side. It made his shirt ride up a little, and I could see the smooth lines of his stomach. I was pretty sure that I had never been so turned on by a man's belly button before. I was about to start drooling when he dropped his arms and gave me an odd look.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Umm..Ye-yeah. Why?"

"You're staring," he told me with a cute, crooked smirk on his perfect lips.

I blushed and hid my face in your pillow for a moment before answering him. "You're gorgeous, Hobi. I can't help it."

He cocked his head to the side, watching me for a moment. "You keep saying things like that. Calling me cute, sexy, handsome, and now gorgeous? You really think that, don't you?"

I frowned at him, then moved to get out of bed, walking around to where he was standing and looking up at him.

"How could I not think that?" I asked him. "You are all of those things. Along with smart, funny, caring, adorable, incredible, amazing. I could go on and on, Hoseok. And I've only known you for a day."

He cupped my face in both of his hands and leaned down to give me a short kiss. "I think that I'm going to keep you," he said.

"I'm probably not going to give you much of a choice at this point," I replied, smiling at him.

A/N: As promised, here is the next chapter. It's not overly exciting, but I do think that it's adorable. In case you're wondering, I do have a dog, and yes, his name is Rizzo. He's named after Anthony Rizzo, who used to play for the Chicago Cubs, and now plays for the Yankees. You didn't ask, but...just FYI. Have a lovely day, everyone! And don't forget to vote if you're enjoying this story.

Edit: I've only got a couple of chapters left to reformat. Well...on here, anyway. I have many, many more that are already written that I have to go back and fix. But I'm getting there! Please enjoy this dose of sunshine. This picture is actually on my favorite hoodie.
