Matthew, although not quite famous yet, had a good amount of fans on Twitter, YouTube, Vine, and Instagram. Matthew would always share a video of Jaylen and him. Matthew liked to, as he put it, "show her off." He liked being open with his fans, and allowing them to see his happy relationship.

The fans hated Jaylene. They would say she's not good enough for Matthew, they would say she wasn't pretty enough, they would say she using him and that she doesn't really love him.

Some fans would go to the extend of photoshopping pictures. They would take the picture of Matthew posts and either crop him or Jaylene out and out someone else there to make it look as if the other one is cheating. Of course the couple knew it was fake, considering the pictures the fans would use.

The fans had hoped that the hate would break the couple up, but really, it only brought them closer together. The fans said the same thing to the couple as everyone else: "You're too different."
