interrogations
"So you're the girl that keeps bothering my brother?" Azula slammed her hand against the locker next to Katara, the tan girl gasped and jumped away in surprise and noticed who it was.
"I'm sorry?" Katara asked confused seeing how azula and Zuko share those gold eyes that cut right into her soul.
"Everyone knows about you, the goody goody trying to turn the criminal into someone hes not, you're wasting your time really," Azula shrugged as she crossed her arms smirking.
"He's not a bad person," Katara said flatly.
"No? Why's that? Because he hasn't threatened you yet? Or is it because you think you can fix what's broken?" Azula cooed.
"I.." Katara gulped a little as she took a step back.
"Exactly, so little peasant, why the fuck are you hanging around him?" Azula stepped forward as Katara pursed her lips wide eyes.
"He deserves to have a friend," Katara barked back.
"Does he?" She laughed.
"Yes!" Katara snapped. She gasped when he back hit the locker behind her and Azula slammed her hand next to her head and blocked her against the lockers.
"Do you pity him? Like a sad puppy? Or is there something else that I don't know?" Azula chuckled looking at her, they were leveled but Katara was still intimidated.
"I know it's not that you have a crush on him, so what is there?" She got closer to her face as Katara pressed herself closer against the lockers.
"You know I'll find out either way, let's just figure out how," she hummed but a hand suddenly grabbed the pale girl and pushed her away.
"You get away from her Azula," Zuko put himself in front of Katara as she was frozen in shock.
"I'm just teasing Zuzu, or figuring out the truth, we'll see," Azula smiled flipping her hair out of her way.
"I don't like repeating myself, im telling you to stay away from her," Zuko stepped closer to his sister with a snarl.
"Oooo someone's protective, don't get attached Zuko, I can tell when someone isn't themselves," Azula shrugged and glanced back at Katara.
"Azula," Zuko warned.
"You don't scare me brother," azula rolled her eyes.
"Then go," he narrowed his eyes.
"Don't be so sensitive, not like yesterday at least," she smiled confidently.
"But I'll go, don't come crying to me when your play thing decides to show her true colors later, I can tell when someone's getting played," Azula sighed dramatically but walked away from them as Katara hugged her body anxiously.
"You okay?" Zuko turned to her calmly as he ran a hand through his hair.
"I'm fine, she was just interrogating me," Katara shook her head as Zuko leaned against the lockers next to her.
"She knows something, she was at my apartment yesterday but refused to tell me really why," Zuko nodded.
"Don't trust her, Azula always lies," he whispered to her as Katara pursed her lips a little.
"Zuko I wanted to apologize for yesterday and my friends, I shouldn't have forced you to come with, I'm sorry," Katara looked up at him and Zuko shrugged.
"You were trying to be nice, it was a sweet thought but I get where your friends are coming from," Zuko told her calmly as he didn't look over at her.
"I'm also sorry for being rude to you before, I.. have a hard time trusting people, especially from this school," he sighed a little as he was quiet enough just for her to hear.
"Why?" Katara asked softly.
"Jet and I use to be friends, and he was the one that kind of started getting people to not trust me anymore cause of my dad, and that's why I snapped after a week of it..." he mumbled looking down.
"Wait what?" She inhaled sharply as her heart skipped a beat. He never told her that.
"Yea, and the day I got my bandages taken off my scar was also the same day I got dragged out of here, jet got arrested with me cause he started the fight but no ones ready for that conversation," he snorted a little shaking his head.
"That... that's not fair, but what about the other kids?" Katara asked not believing what she was hearing.
"I'm not saying I'm innocent, I'm not," he rubbed the back of his neck closing his eyes.
"Look... you come by the shop today, I'll tell you my side, go ask jet now if you want even and tell me what adds up and what doesn't," Zuko shrugged a little as he pushed himself off the lockers.
"And if you lie?" Katara asked raising a brow.
"I have no reason to lie, I've already hit rock bottom and I don't look for approval anymore," Zuko told her simply.
"What do I have to loose?" He looked her in the eyes calmly as Katara gulped softly. He looked tired, stressed, but he was offering the truth... he was right, why would he lie compared to everyone else in this school? They were just starting to be friends but neither of them had enough on the other to actually loose a friendship.
"You don't have to believe me otherwise," he shrugged once more before going to his next class and leaving her.
Katara looked at her shoes as she was left to her thoughts. Did jet make himself the hero in the story so Zuko could get once last beat down and is forcing her to his dirty work? No.. jet wouldn't do that.. not to her...
Katara gulped a little and sighed trying to get herself together. God what did she get herself into? This isn't what she thought was going to happen when she first agreed to a shitty idea.
