Chapter 17: Feelings and Families

Clint's POV

Peter's been here exactly one week. Though I only met him this week, it feels like I've known him a lot longer. And for the last week of Peter's spring break, my family's coming down! That means Laura, Cooper, Lila, and Nathanial! And Scott's kid and Hope is coming over too. I'm really excited to get to see my kids, and not every one on the crew had met them yet. The only down side is that we have to be very, VERY careful. Since, well, you know, me and Scott are fugitives and aren't legally aloud to be roaming around. But either way, they are arriving at 12 today!!

Time skip to 12:00

Peter's POV

Tony mentioned about Clint and Scott's family coming to visit for the rest of the week. I'm excited to meet them, though I was nervous about them potentially finding out my identity. Tony said that it's alright tho, I mean they had to deal with keeping everyone else's identity's so he said not to worry. Plus, I'm excited to met all of the kids. I love hanging out with kids, sometimes I go to the library and read to the kids. They are all so goofy. Plus, I think I can pull a few spidey tricks to get them to like me.

Tony tells me to come to the landing pad, when I do I see the two families and a helicopter flying away. Clint and Scott ran up to their families. They all hugged and chatted for a bit. After a while everyone migrated inside. I just kid if sat back while everyone chatted up. I didn't really know them and didn't want to invade. Suddenly Clint's two older kids and Casie, Scott's kid, comes up to me.

"Our mom said that you're Spider-Man!" Cooper said excitedly.

I squatted down to get to their level and said "Shhh, don't tell anyone. But I am Spider-Man!" After I say that they all gasp.

"I love Spider-Man! He's my favorite super hero!" Cooper says.

"Mine too!" Both Cassie and Lila say at the same time.

"Wow! Thank you guys." I say back while blushing a bit. All of the adults stop what they are doing to watch me with the kids.

"Can you really climb on walls?" Cassie asks.

"I can." I say back.

"Will you get on the ceiling!" Cooper says.

"Sure." I say while climbing up on the ceiling and standing over them.

"Wow!" Cooper says.

"That's so cool!" Lila says.

"Yeah! Can you shoot webs?" Cassie asks.

I shoot a web on the ceiling and slowly ascend from the ceiling as the kids stand in awe.

"Wow!" They all say as I laugh. I sit on the ground and entertain them for a bit while the adults catch up.

Eventually the kids get tired and Tony shows them to where they will be staying.

After he puts the kids in their rooms he comes up to me.

"You know, you're pretty good with kids. Like they instantly likes you. I guess it's the same with adults." Tony says smiling down at me.

"Well, being Spider-Man does help." I say letting out a chuckle.

"No really, you entertained those kids for two hours! And I was watching you, you weren't even pulling those Spider-Man tricks after the first 15 minutes." Tony says.

"Wow, has it really been two hours?" I say. I guess I haven't been checking the time.

"Yes, it has been. And we about about to have a late lunch while the kids take a nap. They ate before they came here. Are you hungry?" Tony asks.

"Not really. I'm gonna make me some tea then go read a bit." I say. Hopefully I can get in some 'me time' and then I'll train later.

"Are you sure? You didn't eat dinner last night and breakfast this morning. You need to eat Pete."

"Ha Ha, That rhymes." I say as I make my voice sound like his as I say "You need to eat Pete." Over and over again.

"Ha ha ha" he says sarcastically. "Seriously Pete, you need to eat. Did you even eat anything yesterday?" He asks putting on his dad voice.

"Dad seriously I'm fine."

"That didn't answer my question Peter." Dad says, wow full name. Oof.

"Ok, fine. No I don't think I did. I think I ate something the day before." I say.

"What do you mean, you think?" He says sternly.

"I mean I don't remember. You know I have a bad memory." I say in defense.

"Peter. You know you need to eat like twice as much as I do! You haven't eaten in three days. Now, I don't care if your hungry, you need to eat. I'm not doing this to get you in trouble, I'm just worried about you Peter. Now eat something. Do you understand? I will know if you don't eat." He says sternly. But I know he cares.

"Yes, sir." I say back and head to the kitchen.

Laura is the only one in there.

"Peter? Right?" She asks.

"Yes, and you must be Laura." I say smiling at her.

"Yes it is. Get in trouble for not eating huh?" She says.

"I guess, but it's nothing. I mean I'm not hungry." I say as I put a kettle on the stove and start making tea.

"Well, I can say from a parents stand point that Tony really cares for you. Trust me, I know he wouldn't be like this to just anyone." She says kindly.

"You really think so?" I ask.

"Of course! You're his son, biological or not. I know what he's getting at. I mean sometimes Clint will stay up nights at a time for some mission of something and I have to make him eat, but it's only because I care about him." She says.

"Well, Clint's very lucky to have you then. And your kids too." I say as I smile at her and get stuff out of the fridge to make a sandwich.

"Thank you Peter. And Tony is lucky to have you. I can tell that you are a good kid. Especially with the way that you handled the kids earlier." She says sweetly.

"Oh why thank you." I say with a dorky grin. "And really, it's nothing. I love kids. Sometimes I go down to the library so I can read to some of the local kids. And I know when kids are sometimes not as nice as others and your kids are really sweet. They are good kids." I say as I put my sandwich together.

"That's very sweet of you Peter. Reading to some of the kids down there. You really are just full of surprises. Did you have any siblings growing up. Did your parents have anymore kids?" She asks.

"Oh, no. My parents died when I was young. When I was about five. I don't know if they were ever planning about having any other kids. And My Aunt and Uncle never had kids. And my uncle died recently so I guess my Aunt May won't unless she finds someone else. But I don't think she will. She loved, and still does, my Uncle Ben very deeply. I think she likes living with just me though. Well I hope so. But yeah, sorry for rambling my life story. Umm, yeah so to answer your question, no I don't have any siblings." I say with a sad smile. I look over and she has small tears in her eyes.

"Oh my, Peter. I'm so sorry, I had no idea. I knew you thought of Tony as your dad, but I don't know why. I figured your dad just wasn't in the picture. I'm so sorry." She says, starting to tear up a bit more.

"Oh no! It's alright Mrs. Barton, really. Please don't cry. I don't want to start crying ha ha." I say walking over to her and giving her a hug.

"Oh, Peter. You're such a strong young man. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to get all sad on you. It's just, I always take for granted my family that I have now. I'm sorry." She says, letting go of me an wiping her eyes.

"Really Mrs. Barton, it's ok. I understand. And it's ok to take those thanks for granted sometimes. I wouldn't want someone to think about what could be all the time. Sometimes, you just need to think about what is. Live in the now Mrs. Barton. Enjoy life." I say sadly with a sad smile.

"Oh Peter, you're so selfless and kind. What did Tony it any of the other teammates do to deserve you?" She says sweetly, finally stopping her tears.

"Oh Mrs. Barton, don't you mean what did I do to deserve them? They have done so much for me. I've only known most of them for a week and they still have all changed my lives for the better." I say with a smile.

"That's so kind of you to say Peter, I know everyone would love to hear that. I'm glad that my kids look up to you." She says.

"They look up to me?" I ask, never considering the idea of people actually looking up to me.

"Of course. You're Spider-Man after all. And they love the fact that you're young. It makes them think that they can do what ever they want, with nothing holding them back." She says kindly.

"Wow, I never would have thought that people look up to me. Thank you so much for this talk Mrs. Barton. It was eye opening for me. Thank you, again." I say as I take my tea and sandwiches.

"Oh no. Thank you Peter, this talk was eye opening for me as well. I really appreciate it. And just a tip Peter, it's okay to think about yourself sometimes. I know it's hard sometimes, but it can be beneficial." She days as she says as she heads towards the door.

"Thank you. Mrs. Barton." I say with a smile as she walks through the doors. I head to the library to get in some light reading.

Laura Barton's POV

I walk out the kitchen doors to see Clint standing in the hallway.

"How much did you hear?" I ask him.

"Only a little. Okay, maybe a lot." He says.

"He's a good kid, like a really good kid." I say to him.

"Isn't he? Like he makes me feel bad." He says jokingly.

"I hope it turns out well for him. He really does deserve it." I say sincerely.

"Yes, yes he does." Clint says as he gives me kiss on the cheek.
