The story of tonight (and backstories)
We had spent the rest of the afternoon at the bar drinking and getting to know Hamilton and Lafayette and Mulligan had also told Hamilton a bit more about themselves. That's when Hamilton turned to myself and John.
"And how do you two know each other? I mean you two are clearly an item? So how'd that happen?" I smiled and turned to John to check he was okay with me telling the story he nodded so I began the story.
"Well, actually we met in England when he, um, freed me from my slave master" Hamilton nearly choked on his drink and looked to Lafayette and Mulligan to see if they were as shocked but they had already heard our story. "You see I was actually a slave to, heh, well, King George" Again Hamilton's eyes widened. "John was passing through on some business when mine and his eyes met and we instantly felt something. We talked to each other secretly and he made it his mission to free me as he was travelling to America soon. Unfortunately, King George had this weird favouritism of me. He started to think I was madly in love with him so much he started acting like I was constantly flirting with him, which I never was" John placed a comforting hand on my hand. "Anyway, we got lucky, really lucky, George wasn't at my side for an hour or two which gave John enough time to sneak me out of the palace and to the docks. We knew that the guards were after us despite the boat had already left John had given me a cloak to hide my identity. Ever since then we've been together ever since I can't wait to win this war then I won't have to live in fear that George or his men will take me back" I rested my head on John's shoulder as he rubbed his thumb on my hand relaxing me as another round came to our table.
We all sat in silence, well as silent as I could keep the others, unlike the others in our group I had managed to stay as sober as I could where as the others were definetly drunk.
[Hamilton:]
I may not live to see our glory!
[Lafayette/Mulligan/Laurens:]
I may not live to see our glory!
[Hamilton:]
But I will gladly join the fight!
[Lafayette/Mulligan/Laurens/Ava:]
But I will gladly join the fight!
[Hamilton:]
And when our children tell our story...
[Lafayette/Mulligan/Laurens/Ava:]
And when our children tell our story...
[Hamilton:]
They'll tell the story of tonight
[Mulligan:]
Let's have another round tonight
[Lafayette:]
Let's have another round tonight
[Hamilton:]
Let's have another round tonight
[Laurens:]
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away
No matter what they tell you
Raise a glass to the five of us
[Laurens/Mulligan:]
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
[Mulligan/Lafayette/Laurens/Ava:]
Telling the story of tonight
[Hamilton:]
They'll tell the story of tonight
[Laurens/Mulligan/Lafayette/Ava:]
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away
[Hamilton:]
No matter what they tell you
[Mulligan/Lafayette/Ava:]
Let's have another round tonight
[Laurens:]
Raise a glass to the five of us
[Hamilton/Laurens/Mulligan/Lafayette/Ava:]
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
[Hamilton/Laurens/Ava:]
Telling the story of tonight
[Mulligan/Lafayette:]
Let's have another round tonight
[Hamilton/Laurens/Ava (Mulligan/Lafayette):]
They'll tell the story of tonight (Raise a glass to freedom)
They'll tell the story of tonight (Raise a glass to freedom)
They'll tell the story of tonight (They'll tell the story of)
[Everyone:]
Tonight
