Chapter 17: Thanksgiving With the Family

John

"I really fucking hate you, John Laurens," Alex cursed at me.

"It's not my fault you made a bad choice!" I shot back.

Alex rolled his eyes. "I knew I should've bought Virginia Avenue when I had the chance."

I leaned over and kissed him softly on the lips. "Just swindled you like Hiram Lodge, sweetheart," I said with a smirk. (If any of y'all get that reference I love you)

Alex crossed his arms and sighed. "I hate playing Monopoly with you."

I winked at him. "I know."

Alex crawled across the floor and sat in my lap. He brushed a few pieces of hair behind my ear. "You know, I was thinking," he started.

"Oh dear lord," I said in a joking way.

"We should go and spend Thanksgiving with your family."

My eyes widened. Why would he want to drive all the way to South Carolina just see my fucked up family?

"Alex, my family. T-they're not accepting. They hate anybody who isn't straight. You have no clue what your gonna get yourself into."

He shrugged. "So? I don't care what anyone thinks of us being together. I'm proud of you, of us. And besides, I'm sure your family are very lovely people underneath."

"Do you want to meet them that bad?"

"Maybe."

I sighed. "Okay fine. You better be glad I love you so much."

He kissed me quickly. "Thanks Jacky! We gotta start packing!"

He got off my lap and ran to what is now our room. Dammit, what did I get myself into?

"Thanks for driving us Maria."

"It's no trouble Johnny Boy. I've always wanted to see South Carolina," she sighed.

I lowered my voice. "Are you sure James is gonna let you go?"

"Yep. As long as another girl is around, he'll let me go."

"Good thing Peggy's going too."

Alex bounced down the stairs with his suitcase. "Ready if you guys are!"

Maria, Peggy, Alex, and I climbed into Maria's car. South Carolina, here we come.

10 hours and several scoldings from Maria about not making out in her car, we finally arrived in Charleston, South Carolina. John directed Maria down a long road and up to a big ass house.

When we got out of the car, John pulled me aside. "Alex, please try to be as straight as possible while we stay here."

I scoffed. "Try to tell yourself that, Honey." I patted his chest and grabbed my bags from the back of the car.

We followed behind John up the steps and to front door. For once today, I actually felt nervous.

As soon as John knocked on the door, a girl a little shorter than John answered. "Jack!" She practically tackled John in a hug.

Two other people came to the door as well. Johns parents.

"John?" his father question.

John held out his hand and his father shook it.

"Dad."

Mr. and Mrs. Laurens let us come inside.

Mrs. Laurens looked all of us up and down. "Well, John introduce us to your friends."

John took a deep breath. "Mom, Dad, this is Peggy Schuyler, Maria Lewis, and Alexander Hamilton-" he grabbed my hand and interlocked our fingers. "My b-boyfriend."

"John, what-" I whisper yelled.

"Shh."

Mr. Laurens set down his coffee cup. "John, may I talk with you in the parlor?"

John gave me one last look and followed his father.

Mrs. Laurens sat us down at the table. "So, Mr. Hamilton, how long have you known John?"

"About 4 months. And may I just say, that you and Mr. Laurens have raised a fine young man," I said

"I say amen to that," Peggy said. "John is the nicest friend we have."

Maria nodded. "That's true."

Mrs. Laurens smiled. "I'm glad to hear that he has friends." Then she turned to me. "And a relationship."

John and Mr. Laurens finally came back into the dining room. "Martha, come show our guests to their rooms."

Martha got up from her place at the table and showed us to our rooms. Peggy and Maria shared a room near the top of the stairs, John got a room near the end of the hallway, and I got one near the middle of the hallway.

What's fucked up is Maria and Peggy got to share a room, but me and John don't get to.

I brought my suitcases into my room and laid down on the bed. We had already missed dinner, which was great because I'm terrible with family interaction.

I looked at the alarm clock on the nightstand. 11:30. Ugh, I can't sleep with out John.

I pulled the covers off of me and got out my phone.

HamilHam: U awake?

🐢🐢🐢: yeah why?

I crawled out of bed and slowly crept down the hallway to Johns room, softly closing the door behind me.

"Alex what are-"

I crawled into bed and sat on his lap. "I couldn't sleep without you." I started planting kisses all over his face and neck.

"Alex, do you know what my dad would do if he found us in here together?"

I shrugged. "Don't know, don't care."

John sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "I couldn't sleep without you either honestly."

I smiled and kissed him passionately. I laid beside him, and stared into his eyes. How did I get so lucky?

Updated legit at midnight. Also the new Hamildrop came at midnight too and it's gooooooood

Also, for the week of 6/18 - 6/22 there won't be any updates bc I will be at a summer camp that doesn't allow phones ✌️
