'Eeeeee!'

'Do a flip!'

'Replaced...'

'Blood for the blood prince.'

Tommy squeezed his eyes shut as he stood above a lava pool. The bright pool was tempting as time and time again he found himself coming back to the edge. Don't get him wrong... he wasn't suicidal, not one bit. He just longed for the warmth of flames to consume him as in the past.

Tommy was a hybrid but preferred to keep it hidden as the type of hybrid he was, wasn't all that common to find. Tommy was a magma cube hybrid... it was a odd hybrid to be.

Magma Cub hybrids can, if they want to, turn fully human or turn fully into their slime/lava form. Tommy's form had lava running from his eyes with his height shrinking to the height of a small magma cub... his form was meant to grow the longer he was in it but since a young age... he hadn't been in the form for very long meaning it was still extremely below what it was meant to be.

Tommy felt cold as he stood in literal hell... he wanted to go into his small form and jump around like his instincts told him... yet there was a slight issue, his brother.

Techno, the eldest brother Tommy had, had taken the boy to the nether so Techno could stop his voices constant demand for blood. One of the ways techno had learned to ignore it meant being around other piglins and Hoglins.

Tommy waited patiently by the bastion that Techno had entered, waiting for the male to come back. Tommy knew all nether hybrids heard voices, it wasn't a commonly known face as not many nether hybrids walked in the overworld. Meaning if tommy had even stated to any family member he was a hybrid of the nether they'd question the voices... he wasn't ready to open up about them.

"Theseus," technos monotone voice came out of no where, "c'mon." Tommy glanced over his shoulder to see a slightly worried Techno as he turned away. Tommy quickly ran to the males side with voices screaming at him to go back to looking at the lava and jumping in. His instincts were overwhelming but he ignored it as he walked side by side with Techno.

"So... why were you staring at the lava?" Techno asked after moments of silence.

Tommy mumbled, "no reason." He didn't want Techno... or Phil... or Wilbur to scream at him for not following his instincts which were mainly dangerous at times. "Just bored while you were in there." The excuse wouldn't work on Techno as the male too had voices who told him whether someone was lying to him.

Techno gave Tommy a side glance... with the look on Technos face was clearly one Tommy had seen before. The look told him, 'I know you're lying but I won't say anything just yet as long as nothing bad happen.' The two brothers walked in complete silence back to the portal.

Wilbur, who had grown curios, trained with Tommy.... hitting a dummy next to him. The male kept glancing over slightly confused as Tommy was constantly jumping in his attacks with a odd haze on his eyes.

Tommy, however, was too lost in the ignoring of his instincts to focus on how he was training. His body took over and did how his brain told him to fight... being a mainly jumping to attack hybrid, Tommy was constant jumping.

"Tommy?" Wilbur's voice cut through his mind making Tommy pause and notice the pain in his legs. The downside of being in the human form for Tommy was the fact his body got tired of jumping while his hybrid form didn't. "Are you okay? You're jumping a lot.." Wilbur lowered his eyes slightly as he glanced over the boy who was clearly more drained from the extra, unnecessary, jumps he had done.

"I'm fine, just thought I'd try something new." Tommy quickly lied as it smoothly flowed out of his mouth. "I'm tried, imma go check on Tubbo..." Tommy trailed off as he placed the wooden sword against the dummy and walked away.

Techno, who watched from a distance at the interaction, held a bag of potatoes. He watched the boy intently as he walked away from the middle child and hummed.

"Tommy, watch your step, I don't want you falling into lava." Phil stated as he carefully walked on the cobblestone pathway they had created after finding the underground ravine. Tommy glanced below them to notice the huge pool of lava and quickly glanced away before the voices blared for him to 'do a flip' or 'jump'. He knew the moment he touched lava, he'd be forced into his cube state.

Tommy treaded carefully on the pathway as Phil stopped to mind some iron they came across. Tommy glanced around to see a shiny ore in the darkness of a cave off of the ravine. He took a step closer to get a better look at the ore before his foot slipped. He let out a scream as he fell face first into the lava, hearing flapping of wings behind him.

Phil watched in horror as Tommy plummeted into the lava. He felt tears run down his face as his youngest son had died and he could stop it... yet something seemed to catch his eyes from where Tommy fell in. A small red cube swam in the lava.

"Tommy...?" Phil asked as he immediately recognized his sons face behind the lace drenched tears flowing from his eyes. The father of three searched his pockets for a moment before pulling out a bucket and flying closer, scooping up the small hybrid son he didn't know was a hybrid. "You're a magma cube hybrid...?" Phil asked as he brought the bucket to his face to look at Tommy who had a haze in his eyes. The teen was clearly ignoring instincts and it lead to him breaking into his cube form the moment lava hit him. He smiled as he knew Tommy was okay for as long as he stayed in the bucket of lava.

"Magma cube hybrid...?" Wilbur repeated what Phil had said.

"So I was right..." techno trailed off as he held the bucket on his lap, the small cube hybrid was bouncing from the bottom of the bucket to the top. "Tommy's going to be like this for a while... I think a day or two for his instincts to calm down."

"Right..." Phil nodded, "should we set up a little lava lake so he can be a bit more free?"

Wilbur smiled and nodded, "I'll go get some lava from the nether. Someone set up a place I can pour it when I get back." Phil nodded and waved Wilbur goodbye as he left the house, the father turned to Techno.

"Can you watch him, I'll go find a safe place to set the lava." Techno merely nodded as he knew that if Phil watched him there would be a chance of injury if lava accidentally got on him. Yet, Techno being a nether hybrid along with Tommy, was fire resistant.

Tommy small cube form bounced up and down continuously...

The warmth surrounding him was clear from the moment he came back to his mind. The last few days turned into a blur after he fell into the lava. He assumed he would be somewhere in the lava of the ravine with his family in grief of his assumed death.

Yet he found himself in a small pool of lava with stone bricks surrounding the pool with some netherrack to keep flame above it going. There was a wooden door that seemed so big now that he was in his magma cube form.

He blinked and jumped straight out of the lava and onto the stone bricks. He stayed in his form as the door opened with someone walking in. The teen look up to see Phil walking in. The father figure didn't notice Tommy was back into his mindset as he closed the door and carried some food.

Phil finally glanced towards the lava pool and noticed the small teen. "Toms?" Phil asked as he walked closer and sat down with the food being placed on the ground next to him.

"Dad...? Where are we...?" Tommy asked as he glanced around the room he was in for another time.

"Your magma room, so you don't have to always go to the nether when you need to get warm." Phil continued, "if you want we can make this into your new room so you're not cold in your room."

Tommy glanced away, he didn't know what to say. He hadn't meant for them to find out about his hybrid part of himself.

"Toms..." Phil reached over before picking him up with one hand. Tommy yelped in surprise at being picked up. "I don't know why you didn't tell us but I promise none of us are angry you didn't tell us. I'm just upset you didn't give into your instincts and went into a haze for two days."

"I know..." he mumbled out a bit upset they had found out this way. "But I think I'll keep everything in my room... since it'll just burn in this room. It's wood, remember?" Phil nodded as he glanced to the food.

"Do you wanna eat at the table, mate, or eat in here?" He asked gesturing to the food. Tommy looked towards the food and thought for a moment.

"Table..." he mumbled, Phil nodded and placed Tommy on his shoulder. The teen gripped on a bit worried he'd fall off. The father, grabbed the food and stood up, walking out of the room and quickly to the table. Wilbur was sat there with no techno in sight.

Wilbur was quick to see the two as he was slowly eating his food. He swallowed the food already in his mouth before speaking, "You back with us toms?"

"Yeah..." Tommy trailed off.

"Mate, how long are you gonna be in that small form?" Phil asked as he placed the plate down in Tommy's normal spot at the table.

"He's forced to be in his form for at least another day after ignoring his instincts." Techno's voice stated as he came into the room.

"How do you know that?" Tommy questioned as he believed techno didn't know much about the magma cubes let alone their hybrids selves.

"You were out for two days," the male shrugged as he sat down at the table. The teen nodded, understandingly.

The family was quick to start eating... despite the fact Tommy was full in a matter of seconds in his small form. Despite the mainly silent breakfast, he knew he'd get a lecture later.
