Synopsis: Tom and Jerry finally speak.

3rd Person P.O.V.

Tom is chasing Jerry around the house. Even though in their previous homes, Tom chases Jerry because the owner wants to get rid of Jerry, Steven welcomes the mouse in his house. So why is Tom chasing Jerry?

Tom is chasing Jerry because Jerry stole some food from him. Tom finally caught Jerry, and was about to pound him, but Jerry was quickly snatched from Tom's hand. Tom was about to sock whoever took Jerry from him, but put his fist away when he realized that Steven was the one who took Jerry from the cat.

"Not again, you two." Steven tsked and shook his head. "I thought I finally got you two to stop."

The door opens and the gems come in the house. Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst, Lapis, Peridot and Bismuth.

"Why are you guys here?" Steven asked.

"Garnet said something historical is about to happen." Amethyst said.

Steven looked back at the cat and mouse. "Why? Why do you guys always fight? Why can't you two just get along?"

"He started it." Tom pointed at the mouse.

"I was hungry." Jerry answered.

Everyone but Garnet gasped.

"YOU TALKED!"

Both the cat and mouse were confused by everyone's shocked faces.

"Well, sure I talk." Tom said with a Boston accent. "Who do you think I am, a dummy?"

"You said it, not me." Jerry added on.

Tom angrily looked back at the mouse. "Ah, you little pipsqueak, I ought to--" Tom was about to smack Jerry with the back of his hand, but paused when he realized something. "Hey! How come you never spoke before?"

"Well, there was nothing I wanted to say that I thought you'd understand." Jerry answered. "And there still isn't!"

"Alright! That does it! You little b--" Tom stopped himself and grabbed the mouse from Steven's hand. "Boy, you get me angry!"

"This is not possible..." Steven said, still in disbelief of the cat and mouse talking.

"What's not possible?" Tom turned his head and focused on Steven.

"All those times when you scream, your voice sounds nothing like the one we're hearing right now." Steven said.

"You mean like this?" Jerry asks and bites Tom's thumb.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Tom screamed and dropped Jerry.

Much like what Steven said, Tom's scream does not match the voice everyone heard. Tom's 'normal' voice sounds like a Boston accent. Meanwhile his scream sounded like an American accent.

"Why did you do that?!" Tom held his sore thumb.

"To show them that your voice changes when you're hurt." Jerry answered with a sly smile, hinting as if he did this just to hurt Tom and not prove Steven right.

"When did you guys ever talk?" Amethyst asked.

"Uh, ever since we were born?" Tom answered and scratched his head.

"But why were guys silent all the time?" Lapis asked.

Both Tom and Jerry looked at each other and back at them.

"What's the point of talking if it doesn't change anything?" Tom replied.

"For once, I agree with him." Jerry added on. "Tom's still gonna chase me, and there's no talking him out of it."

"Which reminds me... How did you two even meet?" Steven asked. "You two seem to know each other for a long time, and we never know how you two met."

"And now that you guys are talking, maybe you could tell us how you met." Peridot said.

"It all started when Ms. TwoShoes adopted me when I was a kitten." Tom started off. "She seemed to love me and cared for me, until THAT rodent came around and RUINED my life!" He pointed at Jerry.

Jerry only rolled his eyes and sighed.

"He spooked Ms. TwoShoes and she commanded me to get rid of him! I tried to get him to leave, but refused, and stole food from Ms. TwoShoes!" Tom continued.

"I was hungry." Jerry defended himself.

"That wasn't good enough for her, so she stopped treating me nice and said if I didn't get rid of him soon, she'd boot me out of the house!" Tom swings his arms in fury. "I tried running him off, but he still didn't leave, and got me hurt while I was trying to chase him off! And then, she boots me out! And replaced me with a cat that booted him out of the house!" Tom pointed at Jerry once again. "And then I went from all different houses, different people took me in and loved me! And then he shows up again, forces my owners to be mean and demanding, gets me kicked out and the cycle goes over and over again!"

"What are you trying to say?" Jerry got angry over Tom's speech.

"What I'm saying is that I'd be better off if you never existed!" Tom replied angrily. "You've brought me nothing but trouble and pain!"

Steven got between them. "Whoa, whoa! We asked why you two never talk! Not your life story!"

Tom calmed down a bit. "Well, after the last few times of being booted, I bought myself a house. Jerry crashed there, and I was too tired to deal with him, so I let him stay. After living for a few months, I found this beautiful cat. I wanted to win her heart, but there was this rich jerk-wad cat that had more money than me. I tried many times to out-do this cat, and lost a lot of money. I remember what cars looked like back then, and how expensive they were. Nothing like the cars we got today, I can tell you that. I tried buying a car with a ring, and how I got the money was I sold everything I had, donated some of my limbs for later use and even sold my life to earn enough cash to buy the car and ring. By the time I got to her with the car, the rich cat brought in this fancy car that the price had higher digits than what mine costed, and with a bigger ring with a shine that could blind you if you looked at it without wearing sunglasses... And then he proposed to her... I declared bankruptcy, and lost everything, and became blacklisted from all sorts of careers and jobs... So... I felt like there was nothing to live for, and I sat down at the train tracks and waited..."

Jerry looked depressed. "And I tried to stop him, but he was too blinded by love to notice that he was practically throwing his life away. I had a girlfriend, but I spent some time away and when I went back, I found out that she was cheating and some other mouse proposed to her. When that happened, I joined Tom at the tracks."

Garnet was getting sad, she let her tears slide underneath her visor while everyone was looking at the cat and mouse horrified.

"B-But you two left the tracks, right?" Steven asked.

Tom shook his head. "Nope. We let the train come, and it ran us over..."

"How did you even survive?!" Peridot asked.

Both of them shrugged.

"You tell me." Tom said. "I guess it's a sign, because we survived and after days of healing, we just got up and brushed it off. We both promised to never speak of it... and then we just stopped talking at all, because our voices reminded us from the past."

Jerry looked down. "We slipped up a few times in the past and spoke, and today was one of them."

Steven hugged the anthropomorphic animals. "I'm sorry that you both went through that. You both deserve so much better in life than being homeless and fighting for food."

Both the cat and mouse hugged him back.

"Hey, Steven?" Tom said.

"Yeah?" Steven replied.

"We hope you don't mind if we go back to not talking again." Tom explained.

"And we hope you don't mind our antics." Jerry added on.

"Of course." Steven smiled. "Although, I'd like to hear your voices sometime."

"We'd speak to you whenever you need, just not too much, if that's okay." Tom said.

"Of course." Steven let them go.
