So, this is another one of those short stories I wanted to try because it may become of what I did with the My Life as a Teenage Robot and Plants vs Zombies crossover, where I write a short story and then write another one thanks to motivation and support it gets. Welcome to any of you who came here for one of two reasons. The first reason why you're here is because you got a notification that I created this and/or I tagged you in it and you checked out why I put your username in this part.
The second reason is, in the near future, you'll be scrolling around Wattpad and then you come across this by accident, but the picture peaks your interest and you're like, "why not?" Either way, you're welcome here. To those of you who have been following me for a while, you've noticed I've been focusing on short stories a bit more than usual.
And here's why: I've been really burnt out for creative ideas for my stories, like I can't really write without hitting brick walls every five minutes. Meanwhile, I have exotic and creative ideas like this and wish I could do them but I tell myself, "your readers want your current stories, not more things added on your plate." I'm not saying any of you are demanding, I'm just paranoid.
I mean, I already left some of my original works that were made before my Steven Universe phase to rot, and people still comment on them, which is painful to see because they're like, "I can't wait to see more," or "when are you updating again?" Meanwhile I've indirectly made it clear that Steven Universe is my concern. Don't even get me started on my Five Nights at Freddy's stories, because they're the reason why I have so many followers on this platform.
Anyway, another reason why I write short stories is because someone who gives me advice on writing told me that writing stuff I'm passionate about helps keep my creative juices flowing to help improve my thinking and helps me believe that when I'm writing, it's not a chore but a purpose I love doing. When I said that I can't really just make new stories out of the ground and overwhelm myself, , they told me to write short stories, and then it made sense. So that's why this story exists.
For those of you who have never seen or heard of Tom & Jerry, Tom & Jerry is the definition of the game cat and mouse, because they invented it. Tom is the cat and Jerry is the mouse, in case you didn't know., don't worry, I'm not insinuating that your stupid, because I literally did not know their names until I watched their very first movie and they both explained their names. Also, they're mutes, even though they spoke a handful of times.
And then there's the very first movie where they... spoke in full sentences. The reason why I spoke differently when mentioning their movie is because of the fact that the movie got very controversial. I'm not talking about the one in 2021 (although I bet it has controversy in it), I'm talking about the 1992 animated movie.
The reason why it's hated is because of two reasons. One of them is the fact it broke the 'unspoken rule' of Tom & Jerry, which I'm about to break the unspoken part. The unspoken rule is that Tom & Jerry aren't supposed to speak unless it's a one-time thing or if they're saying one word answers, like the show does.
The second reason (although, it's probably a personal one) is because of the Nostalgia Critic's video of the Tom & Jerry Movie 1992. He literally hates the movie because they made Tom and Jerry speak and because it's a musical. He literally acts like Tom and Jerry never spoke at all before the movie, when it's the total opposite.
They've spoken many times in the show, they just don't do it very often. Then he bitches about the plot and songs. To an extent, I agree with him, but I loved the movie.
I loved it as a kid and I still love it today. I've always wanted Tom and Jerry to speak, and I got it in this movie. I know Tom and Jerry are solely famous for their muted personalities and slapstick, but I was always intrigued with them talking.
Especially when in some episodes of different Tom & Jerry shows where they push the envelope of Tom and Jerry speaking. Like when a character tells one of the two, "say it," or "whats your name?" And then the moments where they look like they're about to say something but "conveniently" gets cut off.
The point is that I hate the Nostalgia Critic's video because he nitpicks about everything and isn't open-minded to something new. I feel like everyone didn't give this movie a chance because the "die-hard" Tom & Jerry fans hated the concept of Tom and Jerry speaking. I get it, part of what makes Tom & Jerry work is because they're mutes.
But being open-minded isn't a bad thing. But apparently people don't because they wouldn't be "true fans" if they are open-minded. Please, I've loved Tom & Jerry for over a decade and I classify myself as a true fan.
I'm not going to explain what Steven Universe is because it'll take way longer to explain it, so you'll either learn here or learn for yourself.
3rd Person P.O.V.
As usual, Tom was chasing Jerry again. This happened when Jerry stole food from Tom in the alley. Usually, chasing Jerry is nothing but trouble for Tom because he and Jerry destroy anything in their path.
It's what got Tom kicked out of his owner's house. His owner gave him the boot when she saw the destruction he and Jerry indirectly caused. Tom chased Jerry on the sidewalk, with the intent of squishing the rodent with his foot on the pavement.
But he is also aware that won't get rid of Jerry once and for all, because he survived much worse pain than that. So did Tom, he has been run over by a train, crushed by anvils, had his tail chopped off, shot, clotheslined, had broken his teeth, and worse. The point is Tom can't really end Jerry for good.
Jerry looked over his tiny shoulder and saw Tom was catching up to him. Jerry did some quick thinking and saw the Big Donut, the donut shop of Beach City. Jerry stopped for a moment and held his hand up to stop Tom, which he did because he was curious to know why Jerry stopped.
Jerry used his finger as a gesture for Tom to lean down. Tom leans down and Jerry socks him in the eye.
"Ow-whoa-oh-OH-ho-ho-hoo!" Tom screamed in pain of his eye being struck by the mouse.
You'd think a mouse's punch won't hurt at all, you'd be wrong if you're thinking about Jerry. Jerry takes advantage of Tom wincing in pain to climb up the Big Donut building. After recovering from the punch to the eye, Tom witnesses Jerry climbing up the building and chases him up there.
Once Jerry saw Tom almost climbing up, Jerry pushed on the big plastic donut, causing it to roll over to Tom and crushed his fingers.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Tom screamed as he fell down to the ground and the big donut crushed him.
Sadie and Lars, the employees of the Big Donut, ran out of the shop and saw that the plastic donut was down on the ground.
"What's going on here?!" Lars exclaimed.
He wondered what could've caused the donut to fall. He got his answer when they both saw Tom crawling out from underneath the donut.
"Scram, you stupid cat!" Lars screamed at Tom, causing the cat to flee.
Tom ran away and Jerry laughed. Jerry followed Tom to see where the blue cat could go. Elsewhere, someone was walking to the big donut.
Tom runs into the person, not paying attention to his general direction because he was looking back when running from Lars and Sadie. The person rubbed his head and Tom gasped when he realized he ran into someone. Typically, people don't like it when someone runs into them.
"Whoa, a cat!" The people exclaimed.
Tom nearly ran away, but the boy's remark made him stay. Both Tom and the boy stood up.
"Whoa, you can stand up on two feet, too! Cool!" The boy's eyes turned into stars.
Tom got a good look at the boy. He's wearing jeans with red flip flops. A blue shirt with a star on it with a pink jacket.
He also has curly hair.
"What's your name?" The boy asked. He checked Tom's collar that his former owner forgot to take off, which is because his owner wanted Tom's rear end to hit the curb as soon as possible. "Thomas. Can I call you Tom?"
Tom nods.
"Wow, you can understand me, too. Well, my name is Steven Universe!" Steven announces with pride.
Jerry climbed up Tom and stood on top of his head.
"A mouse? Cool, I guess you two are friends." Steven presumed.
Tom snatched Jerry off his head and was about to punch him but stopped when he heard Steven make a comment about them being friends. Jerry looked at Tom and smiled, realizing that if he and Tom were good, Steven might take them both home if they plead with him. Jerry got out of Tom's fist and introduced himself to Steven by giving him a card with his name on it.
Steven reads the card. "Jerry the Mouse. Nice to meet you." He shook Jerry's tiny hand.
Jerry went to Tom's shoulder and whispered in his ear about pleading with Steven to take them to his home. Tom nods, agreeing with Jerry's plan. Tom kneels and tugged Steven's jacket.
"What's wrong?" Steven asked.
Tom explains with a picture he somehow drew within a few seconds that showed him and Jerry being kicked out of their previous home by their owner, leaving out the reason why their owner did it.
"Oh, you two need a home. I can call the shelter and--" Steven was cut off by Tom and Jerry freaking out over the shelter.
Both Tom and Jerry know that they cannot go to the shelter, because nobody would pick them and eventually, they'll be euthanized. Steven could see the legitimate fear in both of the furry creatures' eyes.
"Well, I could take you to my house." Steven said, earning a happy and relief look from both of the anthropomorphic animals.
Tom kissed Steven's shoes as a sign of gratitude, making the boy chuckle.
"Well, let's get going!" Steven said, allowing them both to follow him home.
Back at his home Steven opened the door and his three gem guardians greeted him, but were surprised by Tom and Jerry. Tom and Jerry could not stop staring at their gemstones.
"You've never seen a gem before?" Steven asked. Both of them shook their heads. "A gem is like a rock from space that came to life. Look, I'm one, too!" Steven lifts up his shirt and shows the pink gem on his bellybutton.
Tom and Jerry looked at the gem and back at Steven, confused that he looks like a human, but also is telling them he's an alien rock from outer space.
"Let me explain..." Steven starts.
After one very long backstory of everything and everyone (you watch the show or learn from someone else, I'm not explaining the entire purpose of the Crystal Gems on a short story):
"And that's all." Steven finishes.
Tom and Jerry processed everything he told them. Amethyst jumped on the couch with the animals.
"Guess I'm not the shortest one anymore." Amethyst comments while petting Jerry.
"Steven, where did you find them?" Pearl asked him.
"I found them while I was going to the Big Donut. They explained that their owner kicked them out and they were scared to go to the animal shelter." Steven explains.
"'Explained?'" Garnet said, confused by the thought that a cat and mouse could speak English.
"Oh, they drew me a picture." Steven said.
"So, they're sophisticated enough to understand words perfectly, express human-like emotions and thoughts, draw pictures and communicate with you via sign language. But they cannot speak?" Pearl asked, identifying the strange traits of the cat and mouse.
Steven realized how weird that is. "Can you speak?" Steven asked Tom.
Jerry decided to show everyone that even though they don't speak, they have vocal cords. He did this by biting Tom's tail.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Tom screamed yet again.
Everyone that wasn't the animals were shocked and surprised by the fact Tom has the vocal cords of a grown man. Almost as if there's a man in the cat's body.
"Well, I guess they can, they just don't want to." Amethyst comments.
Tom growled in anger and began chasing Jerry around the house.

So, this may become a thing where I write clips of Steven Universe, but Tom and Jerry thrown into it. Because Tom & Jerry can be applied to anything, according to the movie crossovers Warner Bros. made. Like Tom & Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Tom & Jerry's Giant Adventure (Jack and the Beanstalk), Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz, etc.
