"I'm a dad?"Peter Parker.
CHARACTER NAME: Sophie Marsdon.
"Pepper, I'm really worried," Sophie said, biting her nails. She was sat in Stark Tower, watching the news. "I know, sweetheart... I am as well,"
They were watching the news coverage of Iron Man and a flying doughnut? Sophie was confused as hell, but also about to burst with anxiety. Peter was only supposed to be on a school trip today, much like Sophie. However, Sophie had been at the doctors that morning and couldn't then attend the trip.
She had a horrid feeling that Pete had gone up in the space doughnut. "And it looks like Iron Man is trying to save, what we think, is Spider-Man from falling!" Sophie looked away.
~
That had been 2 months ago. Tony returned, looking worse for wear, minus a Peter. He'd soon collapsed on the floor sobbing that he'd "lost the kid"
Sophie had excused herself to her room for the night and sobbed herself to sleep. And did for a solid 4 days after.
She'd found out the morning of the MOMA trip that she was pregnant, and about 10 weeks along with twins. She's tried to call Peter to tell him she needed to talk to him, but obviously, he hadn't answered... what with being in space and all. Pepper had also found out she was expecting a little girl as well. It was easier for Pepper though: her daughter still had a dad.
Sophie's girls did not.
~
She went through a painful 30 hours of labour before her eldest was born, and the youngest was brought into the world through the sunroof. (C-section) Thankfully, Helen Cho (the Avengers doctor) hadn't been dusted away, so she (combined with other trustworthy Avenger doctors) helped Sophie give birth. There had been a complication with the younger twin and her cord, distressing her. She'd also been breach and consequently had to be c-sectioned.
Sophie had gone into labour at only 25 weeks, around 5/6 months. Helen and the team had been monitoring her on a twice-weekly basis the whole time, seeing as Pete was enhanced. They wanted to make sure the babies were gonna be ok. Nobody knew, not even scans showed evidence of anything changing... until they decided to arrive nearly 4 months early, fully developed.
Sophie had called her daughters Elizabeth-Petra and Lily-Mae. The first names didn't have any major relevance, aside from being nice, but the middle names did. Mae was Sophie's best friend, who tragically passed away just before the snap, and Petra was a tribute to Peter.
~
It was 3 years after the snap before Sophie finally moved on. She'd met a nice surgeon in a cafe once, and they began dating. Sophie moved out of the tower 4 years after the snap, and in with George. They found a nice, 2 story, 5 bedroom house just outside of Queens. Sophie and Alex married a few months after that, nearly 4 and a half months after the snap.
Sophie had no idea how she'd tell Alex about her daughter's father... who he was. She remembered having a similar conversation with Tony back when the girls were about 3 and a half.
"So, are either of them Spider-lings?" Sophie snorted and drank some more of her tea. "Oh, for definite." Tony raised an eyebrow, then shouted for the three girls to stop screeching about Elsa. "How do you know?" He asked. "Well, the other day, the girls were fighting, and I don't know which one was, but they were stuck together. Like how Pete used to stick to pens and shit. I had to like... force them apart." Sophie laughed. "For real?" Tony asked. "Uh-huh. They haven't done it since, and it was the first time they did, so... I dunno."
~
After her and Alex's wedding, they went on holiday with the girls. They'd stuck together again, and Sophie had to frantically pull them apart before Alex saw and made questions.
6 weeks after their holiday, Sophie found out she was pregnant again. She'd cried over the stick and called Pepper in a frenzy from her bathroom floor. Pepper had come round with Morgan, keeping the twins occupied. Alex, thankfully, had been pulled into emergency surgery that morning. "Pep I don't want another baby... I can't have another one," She'd sobbed into her shoulder. Pepper didn't say anything, just kept stroking her head shushing her. "You don't have to make any decision now. Just calm down,"
It was when she was on her way back from her prenatal appointment she bumped into an old friend.
Sophie had no choice but to take her kids with her, and thankfully, the nurse doing the scan understood the reality of having a littlun with a surgeon. They'd been good for the most part (as well as 5-year-olds are) so Sophie had promised them, sweets, on the way home.
The person she bumped into frantically apologised, and it was then, tears began to run down her face. "Ma'am, did I hurt you?" The teenager asked, brown eyes wide. All she could do was stutter. "Um... you look familiar... do I know you?" The teen asked. Sophie wanted to scream and cry. She wanted to hug the teen. "Uh... yeah. Yeah, you do..." She answered. The teen waited. "Um, is there somewhere private we can talk? My house is just around the corner," She asked. The teen frowned. "I'm not supposed to go into a strangers house, sorry Ma'am." Sophie closed her eyes, breathed in, then opened them again. "I can assure you, that I am not a stranger. I just really need to talk to you,"
So, albeit a little wary, Sophie lead the teen to her house. Thankfully, Alex still hadn't come back, which left Sophie to her own devices.... well...
"Girls, go play upstairs. I'm just having a drink and I'll be up for bath time," Sophie told her daughters, picking up their discarded coats and gloves. "Oh, let me grab that for you," The teen dived down and grabbed the rest.
"So..." he began sitting on her couch. "What is it you needed to talk to me about?" Sophie sighed deeply. "There is no other way I can say this. But... Hi Petey." The teen recoiled as if he'd been slapped, then frowned, staring at her. "If it helps, I have something of yours," Sophie leaned over the back of her couch and pulled a red and blue Spider-Man blanket from behind. She handed it over. "This was ours... I used to steal it from you," She recalled.
Peter clutched the blanket tightly. Then he looked down. "You're Sophie... aren't you... my girlfriend..." He asked. Sophie nodded. "Yeah... I uh... didn't dust away." Peter gestured to her 6-month bump angrily. "Yeah, I can see that," She frowned. "Pete... honestly, can you blame me? I'm only 6 months, I waited over 5 years for you..." She spoke softly. "Ugh, no. I can't."
The pair sat in silence for a while. "Even if I wasn't married Pete, I still couldn't be with you for another 2 years... it'd be illegal." She spoke again. "You're married?" He asked. "Yeah... to a surgeon... just under 7 months ago."
Elizabeth suddenly ran in crying with Lily shouting behind. "Hey! What the hell happened!?" Sophie yelled, momentarily forgetting about Peter. "LILY TOOK MY TOY!"
"LIZ BROKE MINE!"
"YEAH CUS YOU TOOK MINE!"
"ALRIGHT! OK! Both of you STOP yelling. We have a guest!" Sophie yelled over her kids. Peter was sat there, eyes wide. "Tell her off mom!" Lizzie whined. "I'm gonna tell you both off," She paused and pointed at her elder daughter. "You, shouldn't have broken Lily's toy, no matter what she did before." Lizzie pouted but didn't protest. "AND LILY, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN LIZ'S TOY EITHER!" Sophie yelled up the stairs. "Now go play nicely."
"I know it's impossible, but the one who was just in here looks like my mom," Sophie closed her eyes with a deep sigh. "Pete... There's something else I need to tell you," She started. "The day the MOMA trip was gonna happen, remember I was really really sick? And I went to the doctors?" She asked. Peter nodded. "Well... it turned out that was morning sickness..." Peter's eyes widened. "They're mine?" He asked.
Sophie nodded. "Yeah... I was trying to ring you to get you back to the tower, but you didn't answer... so you never knew." Peter's brown eyes began to well. "I'm a dad?" He asked. Sophie nodded. "100%... the one who was screeching in here was Elizabeth Petra Marsdon, and the one upstairs is Lily Mae Marsdon."
"Have I missed... ya know... much?" He asked. Sophie hesitated. "No... they're not starting kindergarten until September, and I've collated a scrapbook on them... just in case you came back."
"I want to be there for them," Peter said determinedly. "I'm sure I can sort something out with Alex... He'll be confused and probably upset for a while, but he'll be fine with it." Sophie replied. She stood up with a wince, so did Peter. They hugged tightly.
Peter still trumped Sophie in height, even though she was 21, and he was only 16.
He pulled away with a sniffle. "Maybe I can be a cool uncle to this one as well?" He joked. Sophie laughed. "It's not like I have any siblings!"
He pulled her in for another hug, and Sophie didn't pull away.
