At first, Lucas thought it was a nightmare, it was thatsurreal. Then he breathed in. his nose filled with water and he began to choke.

Above the water, Laura was fighting to get to him. Even if he was the school's most weird kid, it was still human. She could see his thrashing body, yearning for water. Holding Laura back were her two friends, Melissa and Patricia. "Hey! Let me go! I need to help him!" They just tightened their grip on her. The next thing Laura did, made her feel guilty for all of 2 seconds. Laura swung round and decked her two besties. They let go, crying out in pain and Laura rushed forwards. She yelled as she threw herself at Mark, knocking him over. He groaned and Laura kicked him into the pool. She swung round when she felt someone go to grab her, and head butted them in the nose. They reeled back, yelling in pain. It was Ray. Laura turned to James, who held his hands up in surrender. Laura saw Lucas fall into the pool and swim to the edge. His head popped out of water and he took a massive inhale of air. Whilst Laura was distracted, she didn't notice Callum creeping up behind her. He grabbed her wrists and forced them down. Lucas laid poolside, trying to catch his breath. A person called Micheal ran over and sat by Lucas. Probably a friend. Laura clenched her fists.

Where the hell are the teachers?! Laura thought.

Mark was now holding his wrist, pretty far away from Laura, which ordinarily would've been funny. James still looked pretty scared. Laura clenched her jaw.

That's it!

Laura kicked her left leg backwards and felt it connect with Callum's shin. She kept kicking until he let go of her. With all of the bullies down, it only left James.

And Laura was bent on revenge.

Lucas saw the look in her eyes, it was a major contrast from her usual eye colour of warm brown, now very dark brown, almost black. Lucas jumped up, ignoring the light pain in his chest and ran towards Laura. "Laura! Don't!" Laura ignored him and kept advancing onto James, who had now backed up so far that he was on the edge of the tiling, separating the ground from the pool. Lucas stood in front of James. "Laura." Lucas tried. Laura didn't stop. Micheal finally came over and gently pulled Lucas out of the way....

... just in time for Laura to reel her fist back and punch James so hard that James did a slight spin, the toppled back into the waters.

Laura and the bullies had been given a 3 day suspension for fighting and injuring a minor. Laura cast Lucas a small smile from across the class. Lucas returned it.

That night, Laura asked around for where Lucas lived.

After dinner, Lucas went to his bedroom at the back of the house, and was about to put his earphones in when there was a knock at his window. He frowned and crossed the room, opening the window. He stuck his head out and didn't see anyone. Lucas was about to pull his head back in when he felt something on his lips. His eyes widened, and Lucas looked down. Laura was kissing him. She pulled back. "Um... hey?"

Lucas smiled. "Hey."
