Aight, I've been listening to this audiobook of The Children of Húrin, read by Christopher Lee. It's great guys... It's just great (Christopher Lee has the best Morgoth voice). While I'm listening, he says Maedhros' name, but he says it strangely. At first, I said it: "Mayd-hross", not knowing anything about elvish pronunciation. When I was wiser when it came to proper elvish pronunciation, I said it: "May-thross", knowing that the "dh" in elvish words in English letters made a soft "th" sound, as in: " thin". Now, Christopher Lee said it: "My-thross".

I mean... I guess it makes sense... But... And then, I've always said Maeglin: " May-glin", but Mr. Lee said it: "My-glin".

So, conclusion: when you see an "ae" in elvish words, it's apparently pronounced: "ai" as in "I threw it"  instead of "ay" as in "you may.
