Q. Who was da greatest Archer to ever grace Middle Earth?
A. *beats around the bush* I know a lot of you might say that Legolas was (the dude took down a fell beast at night), but, the honor goes to *drumroll* BELEG CUTHALION. :))))))))))))))))))))) Beleg is DA BEST! He's my favorite character :)). And *spoilers* he dies rather tragically :'(((.
Back to the point, Beleg was amazing. He shot four wolf sentinels of an orc camp, all without the other wolves or the orcs knowing it, he named his bow (and one of his arrows), he's a great warrior, super brave and courageous, nice, and just generally cool. :)) At this point, I'm just singing Beleg's praises, 'cause his praises deserve to be sung. :) Everyone's all talkin' about Glorfindel and him killing a Balrog, or Fingolfin fighting Morgoth, or Feanor killing a few Balrogs and making the Silmarils, or Beren and Luthien getting one of said Silmarils from said Morgoth, but we all forget about Beleg and him doing all his cool stuff.
He's a master of healing, the chief of Thingol's march wardens (which is a little puzzling, because in the Lay of the Children of Hurin, he's described as independent, and knows no master, but it is also said several times that he answers to Thingol. To a certain degree at least, because he and Mablung did go to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad when the rest of Thingol's folk didn't (because Thingol the xenophobe :|). I guess it's like, he works for Thingol, but there's nothing stopping him from quitting. I mean, he did kinda quit to go chase Turin. Yea, ya know), he was best bros with one of the best human warriors ever (he trained and mentored said best human warrior ever), he went on the Wolf Hunt with Thingol, Beren, and Mablung... To put it simply: Beleg Cuthalion is an underappreciated and ignored guy, who is also super cool and deserves more recognition. (I'm pretty sure that over half my fan-arts are of him)
Aight, that was more of a rant than a trivia. *sheepish laughter* Welp, bye bye!
