Thraundil/ Legolas- Go to sleep
A/n: requested by ShadowsingerCat who is just fabulous! I adored this idea, hope you enjoy Mellon nin! And happy birthday too!
You tossed and turned over in your bed. The light from the hallway outside crept in under the door to your chamber, illuminating the room a little.
You slowly sit up and rub your e/c eyes. You pull your stuffed elk to your chest, and get out of bed. The giant door was too heavy for you to pull, but you tried anyway.
After a few minutes, and the door not opening, you move onto to the next best thing: scream for either your older brother, Legolas, or your father, Thranduil. Well, they were your adopted family. Legolas had found you out in the forest and brought you back to Thranduil. Ever since then, the elven King had adopted you as his daughter.
"ADA! LEGOLAS," you screamed at the top of your lungs.
The sound of feet running up the halls filled your little pointed ears. The elven King and Prince stood in your doorway, both panting hard.
"Y/n, what is it? Are you hurt," your father says, frantically looking over your small figure. Legolas had his knives out, ready to pounce on anyone or anything in your room.
"No sleep, Ada."
Thranduil and Legolas exchanged glances. You looked at them with your big innocent eyes. Thranduil's blue eyes soften and he motioned for you to come closer to him.
You toddle over to him, holding your little arms up for him to pick you up. The old elf sweeps you off the ground, and carries you back to your bed.
"Legolas read story?"
The prince looks at his father, then to you. "If you would like me too."
"Yay!"
You clap your small hands as Legolas reaches for the storybook on your shelf. Once the elf prince had settled down on the bed next to you, you lean your h/c head on Thranduil's arm as Legolas begins to read.
A few moments later, you had fallen asleep. The Ellons kiss your forehead and whispered goodnight before leaving.
Over the next few years, you still continued to struggle with falling asleep. A company of dwarves had been captured in your father's forest, and now held in the Mirkwood dungeons.
Having another night of not being able to sleep, you decide to go for a walk. This time, you're able to open the stubborn door that forbid you to leave your chambers during the night.
You clutch your elk to your chest and walk down the halls. Since it was so late, not many elves were out.
You round a corner and yawn. "Time to go back."
Unfortunately, you had wandered far from your chambers, and sleep was definitely calling your name. You stumble through the palace trying to find your way back. Eventually, you find yourself in the dungeons.
You raise an eyebrow and look around. There were dwarves in the cells everywhere you look! You whimper and back up against the wall.
Thranduil had told you that the dwarves were a selfish and greedy race, and they don't like elves. Now, here you were. Surrounded by this race that was told to you as a scary story.
You close your eyes tightly and hold the stuffed elk closer to you. Tears rolled down your cheeks, as you silently prayed to the Valar that Legolas or Ada would save you.
"Psst." (The parts in italics will be Khûzdul. I don't know the language so yeah 😂)
You lift your head up slowly when you hear someone trying to get your attention. The noise came from one of the dwarves!
The dwarf in question was rather peculiar looking. His beard resembled that of a skunks and he had an axe sticking out of his head! The axe caused you to cry some more.
"It's okay little elfling."
You slowly raise your head again and wipe your nose in your sleeve. You did know a few phrases in Khûzdul from the books you read in your lessons.
"I'm scared."
"We won't hurt you. See, were behind these bars," the dwarf motioned to the cell door.
"What's your name?"
"Bifur. And yours little elf?"
"My name is Y/n."
The dwarf nodded. He slowly reached into a bag and pulled out a toy! It was a wooden bird. The color was a light blue with a hint of a darker blue as the shadow where it's wings were. You slowly reach out and take it in your hand. After turning it over I'm your hands for a few minutes, you begin to smile.
"Thank you."
Bifur nodded his head in return. As you played with the bird, Bifur began to tell you about his adventures. Being the curious elfling that you are, you asked questions every few sentences.
Little did you know that your brother and father were searching all over the palace for you. Thranduil has gone to say goodnight to you before he went to sleep, but when he found your room empty, he called Legolas.
Legolas returned from the wine cellar, a guard at his heels. "No sign of her."
Thranduil tightened his grip on his sword that hung from his belt. He yelled for his personal guard. When he appeared, Thranduil faced him. "I want everyone in this kingdom looking for my daughter. No one sleeps until she is safe."
The guard nodded and departed from the king and Prince.
Legolas sighed. "I will go look some more."
Thranduil nodded and watched as his son left. He had already lost someone he loved, and he didn't want to go through that experience again.
Legolas made his way to the dungeons. "No one bothered to look here," he thought as he descended from the top of the stairs. His pointed ears picked up a dwarf speaking in Khûzdul. He rolled his eyes and continued walking, until he heard a smaller voice. Your voice.
The elven Prince made his way to where you were. Sure enough, you were sitting next to the door of a cell speaking with a dwarf!
You look up as Legolas made his way to you. You grin from ear to ear as you see your big brother. Bifur slinks back into the cell, away from the elf who caught them.
"Y/n, why didn't you stay in your room? Ada has the entire kingdom looking for you."
You e/c gaze falls to the floor. You didn't think it was that big of a deal. "I couldn't sleep, so I tried to go find Ada."
Legolas picked you up and held onto you tightly. "Let's bring you to him then."
You wrap your arms around his neck, peering over his shoulder at Bifur. He waved goodbye, and you returned it.
Thranduil sat on top of his throne, a hard look on his face. Though on the inside, his mind was going everywhere at once. He swirled his wine goblet in one hand as he stared down the corridor. He instructed every guard that if they should find his daughter, to bring her to the throne room.
Legolas appeared in his sights. The king relaxed, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Ada," you squeal seeing him on top of the throne.
Thranduil smiles and takes you from your brother's arms, kissing your head. "Oh Y/n! Don't scare me like that!"
You yawn as you nod your head. "Yes, Ada."
Thranduil then takes you to your room, and tucks you into the bed. He raises a thick eyebrow when he sees the blue bird. He turns it over in his hand, admiring it.
The elven King shrugs and places it on the table next to your bed. He then kisses your head goodnight and Legolas does the same. They both stand in the doorway watching you.
"Tomorrow, have the leader of their company brought to the throne room."
Legolas looks to his father, his blue eyes filled with question. "May I ask why?"
Thranduil looked down at his son. "They did not harm her when she was there. I wish to express my thanks."
