Lindir- A little push
A/n: requested by Morrowseerer. Ugh Figwit, you're too precious. I can't even! Hope you enjoy!!
Lindir sighed as he flipped absentmindedly through a book. If he were honest, the young minstrel didn't even know which books it was. His thoughts were elsewhere. On you, to be precise.
He remembered how your h/c locks blew threw the wind, as you ran to the tree. He had been sitting on one of the large branches, his back pressed against the rough wood. You were out of breath, looking around for whatever it was that was chasing you. He later learned it was your brother that was chased you a few centuries ago to the tree.
Lindir was brought back to reality when you waved your hand in front of his face. He shook his head, and gazed over at you. Your bright e/c eyes were moving over his face. The taller elf blushed and looked away. You giggle, covering your mouth.
"Lindir, there's no need to blush. I'm sure the Elleth you're day dreaming about, will gladly accept your invitation to the Feast of Starlight."
The brunette elf gave a half smile. If only you knew the truth about how much he liked you. You linked your arm with his, and walked through the garden. It was a usual ritual that the two of you shared. After being inside for most of the day working, both you and Lindir would go for a walk. It was an excuse to get fresh air and spend time with each other.
While in the garden, you happened upon one of the twins, Elladan. The eldest (idk. Tolkien never really says who's older, but people put his name before Elrohir's so...) of the twins greeted you in the elven way.
"Lady Y/n, Lindir, what a coincidence to run into you this time of day," he said winking at you.
It really wasn't. All of Rivendell knew you and Lindir took walks this time of day. Most of the elves had placed wages on whether or not he would ask you to the feast.
"My Lord Elladan. Is there something your father needs?" Lindir questioned the son of his master.
The brunette elf shook his head and smiled. "No. I'm here to speak with Lady Y/n."
Lindir looked to you questionably. You gave him a smile and squeezed his arm. "I'll tell you later, Mellon nin. Save me a seat at dinner."
The minstrel nodded and walked back the direction you came. Once he was out of earshot, you walked over to Elladan. "So, how do you want to do this?"
oOo
The night of the Feast of Starlight had arrived. Elves from all over Middle Earth gathered this year in Imladris. Young elflings ran around playing with ribbons and other toys, while the adults spoke in hushed tones of the rumours that were going around their realms.
Elladan had asked you to accompany him to the feast, and you accepted. Lindir was performing with one of the bands, so he wasn't able to escort you. Your escort returned with a goblet of wine, which you gladly accepted.
"Do you think he's noticed?"
The eldest son of Elrond laughed. "Y/n, he's crazy about you. I think he'll notice that you're here with me."
You shrugged and downed the wine. "I guess you're right."
A few months ago, Lindir confessed to Elladan that he had feelings for you, and was planning on asking you to the feast. You had also mentioned your feelings for Lindir, but wanted him to make the first move. That's when Elladan "accidentally" told you of Lindir's true feelings for you. (The elf can't keep a secret as juicy as that 😂)
The plan was to make Lindir jealous enough to admit to you his feelings. So far, it was working. Lindir had noticed you hanging onto Elladan the past few weeks, and he was not happy.
"Do you see him," you asked the taller elf. Elladan peered through the sea of elves, trying to find the victim of your plan. He squinted and looked to the stage. Once he spotted the minstrel, he pulled on your sleeve.
"There's your Ellon." Elladan whispered in your pointed ear.
You turned to where he was pointing. Lindir was on the stage with several other musicians, playing his harp. You smiled and waved to him. The minstrel nodded to you, smiling seeing how beautiful you looked. His smile faded when he saw you hanging on Elladan's arm.
Elladan noticed and took your hand in his. He leaned close to your pointed ear, telling you to follow him. You giggle and follow him to the dance floor. Through all the spinning, you managed to sneak glances over at Lindir. He, of course, had a hard look on his face. After the dance was over, the minstrel strolled off the stage and over to you.
"Lady Y/n, may I have the next dance?"
From behind Lindir, Elladan winked at you. You smiled and accepted his offer. Lindir looked over to Elladan, who held up his hands in defeat.
"Lindir, come along. The music is starting!"
He couldn't help but smile after you. Once you were in place, Lindir gently put one of his hands on your waist, while the other behind his back. Both of your hands were intertwined on top of one of his shoulders.
"Your music sounded beautiful."
"Thank you. I'm happy to have played for such a beautiful Elleth as you."
You blushed and looked around the sea of dancing elves. Elladan had found his way over to the buffet table, and was whispering with his brother, Elrohir. Lindir stiffened when he saw where you were looking.
"Don't worry. Lord Elladan can take my place," he said sadly, slowly letting go of you.
You swiftly grab his hand before he can leave. Lindir looked down at your intertwined fingers with his. "No! Lindir I have no desire to dance with him. I want to dance with you."
When he didn't respond, you sighed and pulled him to a secluded portion of the garden. Thankfully, it was quieter in this spot. Once you were there, you repeated what you had said earlier. This took Lindir by surprise.
"Why? I have neither any talent, nor am I a skilled warrior. I am a minstrel nothing more, nothing less," he whispered as he sat down.
You sit down next to him on the stone bench, taking his larger hand in your smaller one. You brush a strand of his brown hair away from his face so you can see him. "You are so much more than that to me. I love you, Lindir. I have for a long time, but I never thought you felt the same. Not until Elladan accidentally told me."
Lindir scoffed. "I knew he couldn't keep a secret," he paused for a moment before continuing. "If you felt this way, why did you come with him?"
You can't help but laugh and kiss him gently. "You just needed a little push."
It was Lindir's turn to laugh now. He leaned down and kissed you soundly. It would be the first of many kisses to follow.
A/n: I'm so sorry that this took forever to post. I haven't been inspired lately. Plus I recently joined the Supernatural fandom, so that's been interesting....
