Legolas- Helms Deep
A/n: requested by ShadowsingerCat, sorry this took so long lol. I know that the elves don't go to Helms Deep in the books, (which means that Haldir never died) but this is Jackson's version of Middle Earth.
"Are you sure you really want to do this," your father, Thranduil, asked as you packed a small bag. You sigh and turn to face him. "I'm sure, Ada."
Thranduil smiled a little. You were just as stubborn as him. The sound of giggles filled your pointed ears. You turned to the source of the sound. Your little brother, Legolas, ran over to you. In human years, he appeared no more than ten years old. He hugged you tightly as you hug him back.
"Where are you going, Y/n?"
You bend down to his level. "I'm going to see Middle Earth. If you were older, I'd ask Ada if you could come along."
Legolas' blue eyes went wide. "Really?" He turned to your father with wide eyes. "Can I go, Ada? Please?"
Thranduil shook his head and placed his hand on his son's head. "No, my little leaf. Once you are older you may go."
Your younger brother pouts and sticks his lip out. You give him a sympathetic smile and kiss his cheek. "I promise that one day, I will take you on an adventure. We can go anywhere you want to."
Legolas gazed up at you with big blue eyes. "Promise?"
You ruffle his blonde hair. "I promise."
That was eight centuries ago. Legolas had grown up by now, and all he knew of his older sister was she was gone. A few months after you left, Thranduil had received word that his eldest child had been murdered. Apparently, you had been ambushed by orcs. Legolas was too young to understand why his father was so upset.
The young elf prince strapped the gauntlets onto his forearms. If only his older sister could see him now. You would be proud of him. He stood and talked with Aragorn for a few moments before Gimli appeared in the doorway.
"It's a little tight across the chest," the dwarf said, referring to the chain mail shirt that had been provided for him.
Aragorn laughed and Legolas shook his head. The trio looked up when the sound of a horn sounded. "That is no Orc call," the elf said before running out of the room. Aragorn and Gimli followed close on his heels.
Outside the Hornburg, an elf army marched up the sloped entrance to Helms Deep. The army of Men stood in awe as the elves walked past them. Theoden descended from the top of the stairs as the leader of the army, Haldir, approached. Beside him stood a female elf, clad in armour similar to his.
You had seen Helms Deep from a distance in your travels, but you never thought you'd be defending it. Running footsteps sounded as Haldir the King of Rohan talked. You turned from their conversation to see the trio approach. A Man, a Dwarf, and an Elf approached from the top of the stairs. You felt your breath catch as you e/c gaze fell to your younger brother.
Haldir turned back towards you. "Ah, I seem to have forgotten that Y/n was not present during your time in Caras Galadhon. May I present, Y/n of the Woodland Realm."
Legolas' blue eyes widened at the sight of you. He stepped forward to get a better look at you. You looked exactly the same as you did the day you left. The prince smiled and tugged you into his arms for a hug.
"I don't understand. We thought you were dead."
You shake your head. "You were misinformed. I was ambushed yes, but I managed to escape. Haldir's brother, Orophin, found me in the woods of Lórien. I've been there ever since."
As the two of you continued to talk quietly, Gimli stood on the sidelines with Aragorn, Haldir, and Theoden. He put his hands on the top of his axe as he watched the two elves converse. "Would you look at that. The lad has a lass."
Haldir raised an eyebrow to the dwarf. He still didn't trust the son of Gloin. "Y/n is the prince's older sister. She was ambushed almost nine hundred years ago when my brother found her. When she was brought to Caras Galadhon, she had no memories of her life up until that time."
Aragorn looked back over to where you were. "How did she regain her memories?"
The elf shrugged. "Slowly and over time. She was planning on going back to Mirkwood after her mission. Y/n was in Lindon on a diplomatic mission for Lord Celeborn when your Fellowship passed through Lórien."
Legolas looks down at the ground, his hands holding onto your arms. "We missed you, Y/n. I thought that for sure our adventures would never be."
You kiss his cheek and laugh. "The last time I did that, you were up to the bottom of my ribs." You sighed before continuing. "Legolas, I'm so sorry that I didn't come back. But know this, little leaf, I will never leave you like that again."
The elf nodded. "I will hold you to that. Now come along, we have a battle to win."
