Chifuyu~ Pet Shop
~FLUFF~
You walked out of your house, slamming the door behind you. You were walking to the local pet shop where your best friend Chifuyu worked at. You tried to calm yourself down before seeing him since you hated worrying him with your family issues. He always said that if you had issues he'd be there for you to help and lend a shoulder to cry on if needed but you always felt bad. He was a person with his own issues so burdening him with yours didn't help.
You came up to the pet shop and looked inside making sure he was there before walking in.
"Hey (Y/N) I get a break in like 10 mins. You gonna go play with the cats?"
"Yeah." You chuckled as you made your way to the cat room.
You grabbed some toys and played with the cats for a while. You tossed some foil balls around and watched all the kitties run after them making you laugh at them. You decided to sit down on the floor and soon your lap was enveloped by the little fur balls. Some wanting to sit in your lap, and others wanting to play with other cats. You were so caught up with the cats you didn't realize Chifuyu had come in and was staring at you with the cats.
"You're so lucky we have a hair remover here. You're gonna be covered in cat hair." Chifuyu chuckled.
"Eh, I don't mind." You smiled petting the cats. "I love these little fur balls."
"Come on. I'll split my lunch with you." Chifuyu said reaching his hand out for you to take.
Once you had removed the cats from your lap you took Chifuyu's hand to help you up. He looked up and down your legs noticing the large amount of cat hair sticking to your pants. You followed his eyes and laughed at the amount of hair covering you. You followed him to the storage closet and he passed you a hair remover. You rolled your pants removing the cat hair and threw out the ball of fluff.
You followed him to the break room and he got his bento from the fridge. He sat down next to you and started dividing his lunch in half for you two to share.
"So, you gonna tell me what happened today with your parents?" He asked taking a bite of his food.
"Same thing it always is. Them asking me when am I gonna start paying attention to the company and how it runs, and me telling them that I refuse to give up my dreams of being a veterinarian. I don't want the stupid company, I don't know why they can't see that." You huffed.
"Well even if your parents don't support it, I'm always gonna be behind you on your dreams because you're my best friend." Chifuyu smiled at you.
"Thanks 'Fuyu." You hugged him.
He was glad that you hugged him or you'd see the sea of red that cascaded over his face. Chifuyu tried to push those feelings he had for you away but he couldn't. Deep down he'd always have a crush on you but also knew you and him were just friends, nothing more. He was fine with just being friends though, yes he would daydream about you and him being together but thats all they were, just dreams. Chifuyu patted your back before you let go allowing him to finish his lunch.
Once he finished you said your goodbyes and he went back to work and you just wasted time walking around the city. Of course after a few hours of wondering you decided that you should probably return home even though you were dreading your welcoming. As soon as you stepped foot in the house you were bombarded with questions from your father. You were making your way to your room when you heard your dad mumble something to your mother. You couldn't make out the whole sentence but you could clearly hear Chifuyu being brought up.
"What did you say?" You asked turning around.
"Oh so you hear that but you can't hear anything else I've been asking, huh?" Your dad taunted you.
"What did you say?" You repeated.
"I said that you were probably with that no-good delinquent again. You need to stop hanging out with him, he's a bad influence on you, and it doesn't say much for us that our daughter who's gonna inherit the company is hanging around someone like that." Your father said.
You could see the look of horror on your mothers face. She's met Chifuyu a fair amount of times and has always loved him. Your father on the other hand would rather Chifuyu just never exist.
"Honey don't say that about Chifuyu. I've told you a number of times he's a very sweet young man. He works at a pet shop, now what horrible person would work with animals, hmm?" Your mother questioned.
"I don't care how nice he supposedly is, he's bad for business."
"Oh so once again you're choosing business over your family? Yeah you're a great parent dad." You said before slamming your bedroom door shut.
Days had passed and you've only ever spoke to your mom. You ignored your fathers existence which you had no trouble doing. Any time he would try to speak to you, you would either get up and leave or just tune him out. You've been spending most of your time with Chifuyu and Takemichi since those two are together all the time. It was nice though, for the first time in a long time you felt as if you could breathe.
Over the next couple years your dad continued to pester you with owning the company. He only stopped when you chose to move out and move in with Chifuyu. No, the two of you weren't dating but he offered his home to you when your father became unbearable and you moved in little by little until the only thing left to move was yourself. You and Chifuyu were currently sitting on your bed watching a movie. However you were distracted by your cap and gown hanging on your closet.
"So miss graduate, are you excited?"
"Of course I am. This has been eight difficult and stressful years in the making and I'm ready to get it over with." You chuckled.
"So I hate to be the serious one but whats gonna happen once you graduate and get a job? Are you gonna move out?"
You hadn't actually thought about that. I mean you had lived with Chifuyu for so long, were you really just gonna abandon him once you got a job?
"No I'm not moving out but WE are gonna move into a bigger space. I hate it being so tight in this house. Maybe we should get married like everyone says we should. We already spent our whole lives together." You laughed.
Deep down that wasn't a joke though. Chifuyu over the last bunch of years had wormed his way into your heart but you weren't sure if he felt the same anymore. Of course you could ask but if he said no living together might be a little weird. Your attention was turned back to Chifuyu when he said something.
"Wait repeat it I wasn't listening."
"Oh it's nothing. Just talking about the movie." He said pointing to the tv.
"Oh what about it?"
"Nothing, it wasn't important."
"How are you gonna say something and not repeat it when I ask? Now I'm gonna be wondering what it was for the rest of my life 'Fuyu!!" You joked.
Your jokes continued on for the rest of the night before you both decided to go to bed since he had to get some finishing touches for your graduation party. Your graduation day came and Chifuyu and your mom had gone all out. Balloons, party streamers, confetti, food, candy, games. You name it and it was probably at your party. Everyone congratulated you while desert was being passed around.
"Hey mom, have you seen Chifuyu? I've only seen him for like five minutes this whole time."
"Oh, I think I saw him go outside a little while ago. He seemed stressed about something."
"Oh okay, thanks mom."
You walked outside to see Chifuyu sitting under the gazebo alone. You walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. He was startled for a second but relaxed when he saw it was only you. You motioned if it was okay for you to sit and he allowed. You sat in silence before you spoke up.
"Are you okay 'Fuyu? I haven't seen you much at all during my party. You said you'd be by my side all day today." You joked.
"I know I'm sorry. Just something on my mind and its kinda scary." He chuckled trying to lighten the tense mood he accidentally created.
"Oh. Do you wanna talk about it?"
He took a box out of his pocket and passed it to you.
"Open it."
You looked at him confused before taking the box and opening it.
"Chifuyu?"
"The other day when I said something about the movie, I kinda asked you to marry me and you missed it because you were zoned out." He breathed out nervously.
"Wait really? Why didn't you ask me again then?"
"Because I thought you used the 'zone out' as an excuse so I panicked, and also we never actually dated so I figured you'd say no anyway." Chifuyu said shrugging his shoulders.
"Wait so you really want me to marry you even if we never dated?"
"Of course I do. From day one of me meeting you I wanted to marry you. Of course we can wait to actually get married but I wanted to ask you now for some reason." He chuckled.
You passed the box back to him and he looked at you, tears already brimming his eyes.
"No no no calm down. Aren't you supposed to be on one knee if you're proposing?" You smiled.
He took the box and immediately got onto one knee in front of you.
"(Y/N) (L/N) this is probably the weirdest and craziest thing we've ever done with each other but I fell in love with you the day I met you. I always wanted to be the guy that would always be by your side, will you marry me?" Chifuyu asked holding up the ring box.
"Yes. Of course I will." You smiled as Chifuyu slid the ring on your finger.
He stood up and pulled you into a hug. You could hear some cheers and you looked behind you guys to see your friends and family that saw what happened.
"I swear you better kiss her!"
"Pah shut up!" Smiley elbowed his friend.
"Can I kiss you (Y/N)?"
"I thought you'd never ask." You said causing Chifuyu to chuckle.
You both leaned in and his lips connected with yours. Your lips quickly molded to each others and you could hear him chuckle into the kiss.
"I can't even explain how long I wanted to do that." He laughed before kissing you again.
You and Chifuyu didn't actually wait that long after getting engaged to get married. You and Chiduyu were already so used to each other and knew practically everything about one another there wasn't much to really add. You guys had gotten married two years after he proposed. You had gotten a job working in an animal hospital which helped pay for the wedding quite quickly. You guys had decided to stay in your little home together, choosing to not move just yet.
After you guys had gotten married you chose to leave the animal hospital and become a vet at the pet shop that Chifuyu now owns. You loved the choice you made. You get to do what you love, with the person you love right by your side. You were sitting in the break room when Chifuyu walked in. He closed the break room door behind him and looked at you.
"You're planning.... things 'Fuyu." You said looking at him.
"I just had a thought. Remember what we were talking about a little while ago?" Chifuyu asked.
"Um yeah?"
"Well I may have gone behind your back and signed the papers."
"Are you kidding me?" You asked smiling.
"Nope. We can pick up the little guy later today once we're off work."
"OH MY GOD!!!" You screamed getting up to hug Chifuyu.
Chifuyu chuckled at your almost child-like response, the door to the break room opened.
"Am I interrupting something?" Kazutora asked.
"No, I just told (Y/N) that I finally signed the papers for the dog she wanted. You remember right?" Chifuyu answered smiling down at you.
"Yeah. Oh wow, she's wanted that dog since she was like a kid right?"
"Yeah, they're my favorite breed. They're just so beautiful." You responded nodding your head at Kazutora.
"And now you're the proud owner of one." Chifuyu smiled at you.
"Thank you so much 'Fuyu." You kissed his cheek.
