You were a ghoul that worked for Aogiri, you'd only just been recruited. You were skeptical of the other ghouls since you'd been very quiet living your life, only eating those of suicide victims. You'd noticed a familiar ghoul by the name of Kaneki Ken, he wasn't a stranger to you at all.

Actually, he and Hide once commented of your extreme beauty when they'd seen you at Anteiku once, they especially thought you (e/c) eyes were gorgeous. But you were very secretive about how you lived and how you were but you started talking to the two more, neither knowing you were ghoul.

We've let each other go
But my mind still intervenes

Kaneki was most surprised when he saw you and he felt this was a perfect chance to capture your heart. You both talked about books and human life a lot, it was nice to have someone around from your past and before you knew it, you were both falling madly in love with each other which was quite dangerous for a ghoul.

You huddled up on the roof of the base, watching Kaneki train with Ayato, smiling softly. "Can't seem to get you out of my mind." You whispered to yourself, realising your feelings for the white haired ghoul.

One time, both of you were discussing the last like usual when he started to talk about how he forgot what it feels like to be happy. "Can't seem to remember what it's like to feel fine." He told you, staring at his cup of coffee as you looked up shocked, this did disappoint you and made you harden up; this is why you never wanted to get close with anyone.

"Need a little bit of green, just to lay my head to sleep." You told him, that was your secret to relaxation, to stop you constant nightmares was to lay underneath the stars on cold yet soft grass. He laid beside you with a smile before grasping your hand in his.

"We've let each other go but my mind still intervenes." You didn't understand what he meant and before you could ask him, he kissed you lightly on the lips but it soon became for of passion and longing.

That was the start of a blooming relationship, it wasn't perfect but it was something. You both couldn't do much about it since the situation you were both in, could a romantic relationship ever succeed in Aogiri?

His touch sent electric shocks down your body and his kisses were soothing, it was heated but it was passionate. Kankei had you pinned to a cement wall and was exploring your mouth with his tongue, it wasn't forced but you both needed a break from your responsibilities.

"The things this does to me." You whispered into his ear, your fingers running through his silky white hair.

You both heard footsteps and broke apart, the two of you pretty disheveled but it was only Ayato. "It's time." You were dreading hearing those words, it meant war. You stared into Kaneki's dark eyes before smiling sadly at him and the two of you followed Ayato and got ready for the fight awaiting.

You and Kaneki watched the fighting below from the top of the building, your fingers intertwined. You both knew that this may be the last time you both saw each other.

You sat and watched as Kaneki conversed with Nishiki and then fought with Tsukiyama, you just waited there patiently and quietly as Kaneki instructed.

The snow was stained with blood. You stood up as Nishiki left and Kaneki's back was to you, you wrapped your arms around him and hugged him tightly, no spoken words and no crying. You wouldn't do that. You pulled away and went to leave for battle but he grasped your wrist.

"Please be careful." Kaneki said, his eyes were back to the normal pools of grey. Your eyes had changed into those of a ghoul but Kaneki still thought you were beautiful.

Head feeling heavy
Haven't slept in days and days and days

You nodded, not even a smile back at him as he kissed your forehead before you jumped down and onto the battle filed below you. CCG officers slashed at you with their quinques but your spider like rikaku battled them. Once they were killed, you moved on to the next squad with Kaneki watching from above.

Eyes wide open
This feeling stays it stays it stays

Of course he loved you, that's what he wanted to tell you but you had a job to do. All he could do was wait until it was the right time but Kaneki was always worried about something, that's something that wouldn't leave him.

"True to this feeling," He whispered, looking at the destruction that was caused by humans and ghouls."About these distant ways."

You were disgusted at how easy it was for you to rip apart the CCG investigators, they were instantly scared of you since you were known as the S-rated ghoul under the alias 'Insect'. Nobody knew that such a lonesome ghoul joined Aogiri until now; with you killing.

Not much of a believer
But this time I pray

Kaneki knew why you were how you were, it didn't take a genius to figure it out, just keen observation. This is why you were so cold when you left him on that building, why you were alone all through your life and how you met Hide and Kaneki in Anteiku when he was human. Why you only ate suicide victims.

You came face to face with Amon, your rikaku kagune soon exploded from your back and your butterfly winged ukaku unfolded from your shoulder. This is why you were called insect.

You 'flapped' the butterfly wings before shooting crystal bullets at Amon, your power was draining quickly but you had to beat him. You pushed yourself to the limit and kept fighting. You swiped at his chest and he narrowly dodged it before he returned the favour, slashing your collarbone and sending you flying.

You gasped for air as you hit the cold snow, your mask was stopping you from breathing before it was harshly pulled off. Kaneki had come down from the rooftop and helped you, pushing your hair away from you face as you coughed up blood and shivered from the cold. "(F/n), are you alright?" He asked concerned.

Oh my, oh my

You chuckled before coughing due to the pain that shot through your chest. "Feeling like I can't breathe." You choked up, sitting up with his hands supporting you.

"I'll finish him off." Kaneki assured you. But you didn't want Amon to die, you didn't want anyone to day in fact. This was unlike Kaneki but he had changed, it couldn't be reversed.

He fought Amon, killing him quickly and then picking you up and dashing off, placing you somewhere safe before kissing you on the lips. "Be safe, I'll be back. I promise." Kaneki said, tears in his eyes as he readjusted his mask and looked down painfully at you.

You nodded and he was soon off. You just waited and waited. You watched lives being taken, fighting and bloodshed surrounded you even though you were hidden away from the human eye.

Your breathing was hitched as you saw Kaneki walk through the snow with a body in his arms, a white sheet blew off it and towards your direction and you could smell the scent of the deceased on it. Hide.

Kaneki looked beyond destroyed but looked calm at the same time, walking towards the CCG with Hide's body in his arms, his best friend in his arms. His only source of family in his arms. Hide was a friend to you also and it broke your heart to see this, why did the world come to this?!

Kaneki disappeared from your vision and so you waited, Kaneki could look after himself but he probably wouldn't be able to fight properly with Hide on his mind. You started to cry but it wasn't for you lover or friend, it was at the war between humans and ghouls.

Ayato found you and helped you leave battle, Kaneki hadn't come back. He never did, he broke his promise. The only source of love in your life was gone along with friends and allies. What a tragedy.
