"Yup! You've successfully transformed into a fish, Yugi-kun! And got yourself cursed."--Hanako said as she held up the aquarium in front of a wall mirror

"WHAT?!!!"--Amane scream in terror

"You're.. You're kidding, right?!"--Amane said as he inspect his appearance

Pale scales.. Light-brown fins and tail.. Is that a black choker with a Moon pendant?! The pen he is always carrying around turned into a choker?!

"I'm... I'm.. really a fish.."--Amane thought to himself.

"I told you not to swallow the scale. Every action has a reaction you know. And, you need to listen to people sometimes."--Hanako said as she place the aquarium on a table near the bathroom window.

"I'm so sorry.."--Amane said in a squeaky voice

"Apology accepted."--Hanako said as she lean over and put her chin on the back of her hand

"W-What will happen to me now?"--Amane

"Well, as I've told you earlier, you will be cursed under the Mermaid's Curse. Fish are the mermaid's servants. But it's a good thing that you didn't swallow the other scale. Because if you did, then you'll have a zero chance of turning back into a human."--Hanako said as she toyed a strand of her hair

"Wait.. I can turn back into a human?!"--Amane said

"Yes, you can. Though,there's a high chance that you'll turn back into a human with side effects."--Hanako said

"What kind of side effects?"--Amane

"You'll have gills or fins or scales.. It's like becoming a human-fish hybrid and you tell me that isn't cool."--Hanako said with a giggle

"IT IS NOT COOL! I can't live as a human with gills or fins or scales! I'll be ridiculed and laughed at."--Amane

"Woah, calm down. At least you're still human. Besides, you can breathe longer underwater and swim deeper in bodies of water using those gills or fins. You can find new species of underwater life that the rest of the world cant discover. You'll be famous! I call that lucky."--Hanako said

"I..I don't want to be famous.. If I did, everyone's eyes will always be on my back. Everyone will fake their smiles and offer their lies. My every move will be watched and once I commit a mistake, I'll be judged and shamed for the rest of my life. I'll be immortalized in the knowledge of people as a shameful fool. A good for nothing. So.. I don't want to be famous. I just want a normal life."--Amane said

Hanako is rendered speechless. She felt sadness, fear, anxiety and doubt in Amane's statement. She wondered what happened to Amane that made him think like that.

"Hey, Hanako-san.. I think I do have a wish I want to be granted.."--Amane said

"Eh? S-Sure. Just say the word."--Hanako said snapping out of her daze

Suddenly, the room start to shake and the surroundings start to become dim. A shrill laugh echoed throughout the room that made Hanako stand. Her brows furrowed and her lips turned into a frown.

"Well, well, well.. What do we have here?"--a voice boom out as the room continued shaking

"W-What is that?!"--Amane said

"Humans are really foolish creatures! Hahaha! But, be glad human boy! From this day forward, you shall serve me!"--the voice shout in mocking glee

The floor begin to crack and crack until bursts of water surge from it making a huge hole. The bursts of water gathered and began to take form of the shrill voice's owner.

"There you are, Mermaid.."--Hanako said as she shield Amane's aquarium.

"What in Armstrong's name is that?! A fish with a face?!"--Amane squeak 

"That is the Mermaid.. She's here to collect you, Yugi-kun, her new servant."--Hanako said making the creature before them laugh

"But that's a problem.. You're interrupting my bus---."--Hanako said before getting flick  to the other side of the room 

"Shut up ghost girl! You're in my way!"--The mermaid said 

"NO! Hanako-san!"--Amane said, his voice even though squeaky held fear in it. Fear for the apparition's safety.

"What a pathetic apparition. You're so weak. I think you don't know that my life spans a millennia. A mere School Mystery like you could never reach up to my level. Now come with me, new servant."--The mermaid said before lifting up Amane's aquarium.

"Wait.. Wait a second.."--Hananko said, getting up from her fall

"Hmm? What?"--The mermaid said, turning her attention to the apparition

"I haven't granted that boy's only wish yet. If you're going to take him, could you wait until I have?"--Hanako said, her eyes shadowed by her bangs

"Silence! Who are you to command me?! I'm more powerful than you!"--the Mermaid shout

"Oh.. I see.. If you're going to take Yugi-kun by force.. I'll use force too."--Hanako said as she draw a kitchen knife from her uniform.

"What impudence!"--the mermaid scream as she lunge towards Hanako with her big mouth which is full of sharp teeth inside.

"So slow."--Hanako said before sliding underneath the Mermaid and slashing its chest and belly.

The Mermaid gave a loud roar of pain before launching a bunch of sharp scales towards Hanako, who send them flying in all directions with her knife.

Amane could only look on with amazement. He almost couldn't believe what his eyes are seeing.

"N-No way! You couldn't have dodged all of that! No one was able to dodge my scales in the past!"-- the Mermaid said frustratingly

"Let's wrap this up, Mermaid. You're wasting my time."--Hanako said before slashing the Mermaid's neck menacingly.

"How could an Apparition a few decades old be so powerful?! CURSE YOU, SCHOOL MYSTERY!!!"-- the Mermaid scream before disappearing

Soon, the room went back to normal with its normal colors but with a few damages.

"Nice catch!"--Hanako said as she caught Amane's falling aquarium.

"I sent her packing for now. But, no doubt that she'll come back again. She seems persistent after all."--Hanako said, placing the aquarium back on the table

"Never mind that! Are you okay, Hanako-san? Are you hurt?"--Amane squeak in worry

"Don't worry, Yugi-kun. I'm fine. Anyway, what were you saying again?"--Hanako said

"I do have a wish that I want you to grant.. Though, you should know that already."--Amane said

"I know. But, I want you to say the magic words."--Hanako

"Do I have to?"--Amane

"Yes. Say "I wish to be human again, oh great and wholesome Hanako-san!"--Hanako said

"Is the "great and wholesome" part really necessary? From what I saw through your things that had fallen on the floor earlier, you're not that wholesome."--Amane

"H-Hey!"--Hanako shout, embarrassed

"What's up with the kokeshi doll anyway?"--Amane

"Well, it's a bit sexy."--Hanako said suggestively

"Seriously?"--Amane thought

"Anyway, back to the topic. What were you saying?"--Hanako said

"Fine. I wish to be human again,oh great and wholesome Hanako-san!"--Amane

"Not bad. Are you really sure, though? You'll have to pay the price."--Hanako

"What kind of price?"--Amane eagerly

"I don't know. But, I'll let you have the bare minimum of a normal life. How about it?"--Hanako said

"I'll pay you whatever you ask for your price! Just please, grant my wish."--Amane said

"Okay. If that's what you really want. Then, you have to pay me with.. your body."--Hanako said with a smirk

"W-What?!"--Amane shout in disbelief

"You don't want to? Then, no wish granted for you."--Hanako said teasingly

"F-Fine! Just grant my wish already!"--Amane

"Okay."--Hanako said before taking out the other Mermaid Scale from her pocket and swallowing it.

"Ouch!"--Amane said when his but hit the floor

"Well, your wish has been granted. As a bonus, our fates are now linked across the border of this life and the next."--Hanako said 

"Huh?"--Amane said as he scratch his head

"Another bonus is that I'll minimize the Curse's effects on you."--Hanako said

"Oh great."--Amane said 

Hanako laugh a little before lowering her body so that her's and Amane's eyes meet. Amane took a nervous gulp as the apparition's face keep getting closer.

"In exchange, I'll take your labor."--Hanako whispered as her lips turn into a grin

"........WHAT?"---Amane said,dumbfounded.

"Hahahaha! Man, what a relief. I was just thinking that I wanted a human assistant!"--Hanako said, bursting in laughter

 "I-I thought y-you want my b-b-body?"--Amane said, his voice is laced with embarrassment 

"Oh, you thought that I meant something dirty? Amane-kun, you have such a dirty mind. Pervert."--Hanako said, making Amane block her mouth with his hands.

"I-I-I'm not a pervert! And, wait I can touch you Hanako-san?"--Amane said

"I just told you earlier that our fates are now linked. Which means that we share a bond. Go easy on me, will you? I'm a girl after all."--Hanako said, removing Amane's hands from her mouth.

"Sorry. God, I'm so tired. I've seen enough extraordinariness for today. I have to go home now. It's getting late. My parents and Tsukasa are probably worried sick by now. Thank you for everything, Hanako-san."--Amane said, getting up from the floor and dusting himself off.

"You're welcome, Amane-kun. Oh, and those will get better if you dry them off. You might want to dry them before you get home so that you'll not cause your parents heart attacks."--Hanako said, pointing at Amane's arm

"Eh? What are you talking about?"--Amane said looking down at his arm

"AHHHHHHH!!!!"--Amane scream in terror when he saw a few scales littering his arm

"Amane-kun, calm down! Calm down! They'll come off! Don't worry!"--Hanako said

"A-A-Are those what you said side effects?!"--Amane said while wiping the scales with a towel

"Yup. Be careful. If you get in contact with water, those scales will appear instantly. But, it will not turn you into a fish. You will turn into a fish if you get dumped with large gallons of water."--Hanako said

"I badly need sleep. I think I'm gonna go insane. See you tomorrow, Hanako-san."--Amane said

"See you, Amane-kun!"--Hanako said as Amane ran out of the bathroom.

Amane hurriedly exit the old building and went home. Luckily, he didn't get caught by a teacher while running across the school grounds after school hours. He did get scolded by his Mom and Tsukasa for going home late.

~A week after~

"Where do the things that everyone has forgotten go to? Do they simply disappear?"

"No, they remain near us, even as we speak."

"Have you heard of this rumor?"

Fairy-san... also known as Yousei-san..

Meanwhile, in the girls' bathroom on the third floor of the old building..

"Hanako-san, Hanako-san.. Can I please go home now?"--Amane said lazily

"Nope!"--Hanako said playfully

"Why?"--Amane said

 "Because,I've got an important job for you when you're done. So hurry up."--Hanako said 

Amane sigh as he resume mopping the floor.

"How did I end up cleaning bathrooms again? Oh, right.. I became an Apparition's assistant."--Amane thought
