Neo: So the tick says "get this dog boy off my butt!"

Hooty: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You are so funny!!

The guardian of the Owl House laughed loudly. While Neo waited for Luz and Eda, he made small talk with Hooty.

Neo: That's why I don't do enlargement spells anymore.

Hooty: Eda tried that once! She tried making gold bigger, but make King big instead!!

He said with a laugh as said wannabe tyrant grumbled.

King: And I was having so much fun!

Neo: Look at me, being 103 years and still looking great.

He said, admiring himself in the mirror.

"I'll say!"

Looking over, he saw Luz and Eda walk over. They had small bags on their backs to prepare for the training.

Neo: It took me learning the most dangerous spell ever. "The Holy Grail Spell."

Luz: Wait, the Holy Grail existed here?!

Eda: It's where it originated. And I gotta say, wish I could have that spell on myself.

She said, looking at her grey hair.

Neo: Do it correctly, and you gain eternal life. Do it wrong, you die instantly.

Luz shivered in fear of that.

Luz: Yikes... I can see why it's that dangerous...

Eda: Hence the fear of it.

Yami: It's also partially how that emperor lived for so long.

Neo: I performed it on my 21st birthday

Luz snapped her fingers.

Luz: I thought you looked that young!

Neo chuckled good-naturally at that, holding up Orion while Yami rested on his shoulders.

Neo: So, when are my disciples hunting?

Eda and Luz stood straight.

Eda: Right now!

Luz: Yeah! Let's do it!!

A Bit Later:

Neo: So what are we hunting for?

Eda and Luz hummed as they sat around a camp fire. They were in the middle of the forest at night.

Luz: I honestly don't know.

Eda: I guess just find whoever speaks to us.

Yami: Choose wisely girls, we aren't so easily befriended.

Neo: Or train.

The 2 nodded firmly while looking around.

Luz: So~, do we just walk around the forest till we find someone?

Eda: Sounds like it.

Neo: Be careful.

They nodded as they went their separate ways. Eda went to the right and Luz to the left.

Neo watched the 2 leave, looking at Yami for advice.

Yami: They'll be fine, don't worry. I am curious as to what they'll end up with.

Neo: Me too.

Meanwhile Luz's sniffed the ground and trees

Luz: Sniff sniff, hm, nothing new here.

She said to herself as she climbed up and down trees all over. As she had no real goal in mind, she's just been browsing.

Luz: I wonder who I'll find...

Suddenly, something bit her tail.

Chomp!

Luz: YEEEOOOOWWW!!!

She shouted while jumping up and holding her tail in pain. As she did however, she saw that a layer of ice covered the area.

She hissed.

Luz: Alright, who did that?!

She shouted to the trees in anger.

"Giggle~!!!"

Her ears twitched when she heard slight giggling.

She let out a territorial meow.

"MEEEOOOOWWWW!!!!"

She shouted, the meow echoing in the forest. As she did, she heard the giggling come closer.

"You're funny!"

She got closer.

The cat girl was ready for any attack as her watts twitched. She could hear whatever it was that was mocking her close in.

Luz(thinking): What are you?

She thought as made her way over to it.

She extended her hands out like claws.

"Getting warmer~!"

The voice taunted as Luz bared her teeth.

"And~!"

Luz walked on a sheet of ice.

She slipped, her tail sticking to the ice.

Luz: WAHH!!

THUD!!

The teen landed on the dirt, pain riding her body. She grit her teeth in anger as she sat up.

"AHAHAHAHA!!! That was great!!"

FWOOSH~!!

The voice said, a small figure flying right in front of Luz's face.

Luz looked at it closely.

It was a small, 2ft long dragon, from snout to tail. It's entire body was covered in Snow White scales. The wings seemed to be made of icicles.

What stood out was her yellow eyes staring right at Luz with a smile on her snout.

?: You're funny cat girl!

Luz meowed in annoyance.

Luz: What are you?

She asked as the dragon smiled before taking a seat in Luz's stomach.

?: I'm an ice dragon, isn't that obvious?

She asked, gesturing to her wings.

Meanwhile, With Eda:

The Owl Lady had her hands behind her head. She was casually walking through the forest.

Eda: Thought this would be more interesting. Bet Neo had an easier time finding Yami in his day.

She thought about Neo.

The thought of the Warlock made her blush.

Ever since she was a child, she's had a crush on the man. When he disappeared, she spent days crying in sadness. But now he was back and in her life.

As a teacher and maybe even more...?

Eda(thinking): I hope I at least have a chance...

She then remembered her shirtless posters of him and the "things" she would do while looking at them.

Eda's pale face went red in seconds as she tried to clear her mind.

Eda(thinking): Focus girl!

She often worried if Neo would be disgusted by her for doing that.

She continued looking.

Eda: What am I even suppose to find? Or is it suppose to find me or something?

She asked out loud while surveying the are. With the length of the forest, the options could be hundreds even.

She sniffed the air.

Eda: Man, this place stinks.

She said, waving her hand over her face.

FWOOSH~!!!

Her hair swished to the side at the sudden wind force. She rose a brow as she tried to locate the source.

Eda: Who goes there?

She looked closer.

In between the trees, she saw a pair of eyes staring down at her. She squinted her own at it, wondering what it is.

Eda: What are you?

She asked as the creature slowly came closer.

She examined it.

It was barely a foot tall as it came down. It had a clean white coat with blue and gold feathers. The top of it's head was like a crown.

What's more, it had a tiny beak and dark orange eyes staring at her.

Eda rose a brow as she went closer, trying to pet it.

Eda: Uh, nice bird?

She asked while reaching forward.

Loom~!!

But an intense glare from it made her back away with hands up in surrender.

Eda: O-OK OK, no petting!!

The owl creature hummed while looking at her.

?: I assure you, I'm no mere "bird".

It flew up.

Right up to Eda's standing height, staring her in the eye.

?: You are unruly, undisciplined, and a wild card.

It said, making Eda frown.

Eda: There a point to this or you just out to insult me?

The bird flew higher.

?: But you have a lot of potential. If you can sort your feelings, you could certainly be a force to recon with.

It said, peering down at her.

?: Should you allow me, I can teach you.

Eda's brow rose.

The bird continued.

?: I have ways to help you Edalyn.

!!!!

The Owl Lady's eyes widened in surprise.

Eda: H-how do you know my name?!

She asked, confused as the bird lightly chuckled, resting on a branch.

?: Do you not remember me child? That day when you ran into the forest alone for the first time.

It said as Eda's eyes widened, her mind flashing back years ago.

Flashback, 20 Years Ago:

Growl...

A monster groaned out in pain and fear. Covered head to toe in a thick coat of bright orange feathers.

?(thinking): Home... I want home...

The creature thought with what little willpower it had left.

Something spoke.

"Are you lost dear child?"

The sudden voice scared the creature. It bared its teeth and looked around.

Crunch crunch crunch...

Slowly, a creature walked over, much larger than it was. It was over 20ft long with a serious gaze peering through the trees.

It looked at the"creature".

?: Hissss~!!!

The orange creature hissed out while the larger one walked over. To a normal eye, nothing was happening.

But through the larger one's eyes, he saw right through the creature. It wasn't a monster, but a small scared and confused little girl.

?: You poor thing.

It said, reaching over, pulling it into a hug with his wings.

Looking closer, it noticed the telltale signs of a beast curse.

?(thinking): Who would curse a young and innocent child? Whoever did this is of an evil even I fear.

It thought as the creature it held slowly calmed down. The larger creature nodded as he noticed this.

He began singing.

After the child calmed down, the owl started to recite an incantation that, while wouldn't heal the curse, would halt it from full taking over her body.

Shimmer~!!

The child's body glowed as it grew down. Changing back to a regular teen with wild hair and pale skin. The owl gently held the sleeping girl in its wings.

?: Sleep well little child.

He said calmly as he began walking.

End Of Flashback:

Eda was hiccuping as she had tears pool down her face. She stared at the owl creature with nostalgia and relief.

Eda(sobbing): Y-you h-helped me? Y-you're the one who s-saved me?!

She asked, uncaring of her tears as the owl nodded.

?: Indeed I am Eda. You may call me Merlin.

Meanwhile With Neo:

Neo: Who do think will come back first Yami?

He asked as his scaly friend, who rested on the fire.

Yami: It all depends on what type of creature they get. But if I had to guess, maybe the cat girl.

He said, yawning slightly.

Neo: Give me same more fire please, the camp fire is getting low.

Yami: Yeah yeah.

FWOOM~!

He said, brightening the fire.

Neo: Thanks.

Meanwhile:

Luz, after getting back at the small dragon, sat down and began talking.

Luz: Alright little ice pop, what's your deal?

She asked the small dragon, who was hanging upside down on a branch.

She'd narrowed her yellow eyes.

?: Why else? To have a good laugh! Besides, never seen a cat girl here, so I doubt you are a common resident here.

The dragon simplified as Luz sighed.

Luz: Well you're partly right. I'm actually human, from another world.

She explained why she was there.

Luz: See, I'm here to find a familiar to further my training as a witch.

She said simply as the dragon looked at her.

?: Why don't I become your familiar?!

She asked with a smile as Luz stared at her in surprise.

Luz: Y-you really want to be my familiar?

Luz was surprised.

Sure she wanted to ring the little thing's neck for the ice joke, but didn't think she'd find one so easily.

?: Sure!! You seem fun to be around!

Luz smiled as she reached over, gently petting it.

It then froze one of her ears.

Luz: GAH!

The cat girl yelled in surprise as the dragon laughed joyously at the sight.

?: Hahahahaha!!! You're funny!!

Luz started chasing the dragon.

Luz: GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE FROSTY FEIND!!!

The dragon laughed as it flew ahead.

?: Ooh, Frost, I like it!! Thanks cat!

It said happily while they ran through the forest.

Meanwhile:

Merlin: You can let me go you know right?

The bird said as Eda held him like a stuffed animal.

Eda: I know... just... please let me have this...

She said with a few sobs as she began making her way back to Neo.

Soon:

Neo: So Eda, have you found a familiar yet.

He asked, sensing that his apprentice was near. He was surprised to see Eda in tears and an owl in her hands.

Eda: Yes...

She said, taking a seat as Merlin sat on her lap.

Merlin: Hello, are you her teacher or friend?

Neo: Teacher, prince Neo.

Merlin: Ah, your highness.

He said, bowing for the man. Eda gently stroked his head as he looked at Neo.

Merlin: I am to assume you're the one to sent her to find a familiar?

Yami: Smart bird.

Neo: Yes.

The owl nodded as Eda continued hugging Merlin.

Merlin: Alright.

Yami and Neo shared a confused look at how affectionate Eda was to him.

Neo: Eda, what's up with you?

Eda looked up at him with a smile.

Eda: Little guy here apparently helped me out years ago.

She said in a gentle voice while petting Merlin, who enjoyed the feeling greatly.

Neo than saw Luz chasing a dragon.

Luz: YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ME!!!

Frost: Can't catch me~!!

Eda, Merlin, and Yami stared in mild amusement at the sight.

Yami: Oh great, an ice dragon.

Neo: Mischievous creatures.

He said, watching in amusement as Luz ran after her familiar in anger. As she did that, Eda continued holding Merlin close.

Luz: I will get yo-!!!

She began, till she noticed she has an audience.

Neo: Hi Luz.

Luz: Uh... hi!

She said, suddenly standing up, embarrassed. As she did, Frost took a seat on her head.

Frost: Hey there people!

She said cheerily towards them.

Neo: This your familiar?

Luz growled at the dragon, who giggled at her.

Luz: Yes... sadly...

Frost: Aww, love you too cat girl!

She said, snuggling against Luz's head, who began shivering.

Merlin: Um, I think she's giving the child brain freeze.

He pointed out, Luz's face turning blue.

Neo: This will be interesting.
