The car sped through the dark night, it's headlights flashing, warning the incoming traffic and I was right there in front of it, unable to move, the call I received just now made me disoriented, and the blaring lights just added to my confusion. I couldn't comprehend the situation, before I could understand I felt searing pain all over my body, making me paralysed. My head was buzzing, people were screaming, someone was asking me to open the eyes, but I was tired, tired with the days spent working round the clock just to make feasible living.

I was tired of always giving up, tired of sacrifices, all I just wanted to do was close my eyes and rest. Not to worry about earning for tomorrow's food, or to worry about how to take care of my sick brother, how to save enough money for his next treatment.

But then it doesn't matter anymore. I just received a call that my brother gave up on me. I am all alone in this big world. At just 24 I lost everything. SO for the first time in my life I did what I desired the most. I closed my eyes to rest.

I don't know how long I was unconscious, all I remember was one day when I opened my eyes, I was lying on the hospital bed, connected to multiple IV's and machines, a nurse saw me waking up and immediately went to call upon the doctor, it was then I noticed my surroundings I was in a comfortable bed, alone in the ward, must be a deluxe ward, which I was sure I couldn't afford. what must have happened?

It was then I saw him,  my childhood best friend, we lost contact 10yrs back when he left the suberbs to make a better life. Suddenly like a breeze he swept my melancholy and confusion away, he was still the same, no wait looks like he has grown taller, more handsome, there's air of calm, maturity and responsibility around him, but his eyes held a different story, there was worry and storm was brewing inside.

"Miss Ruby, this is your treating doctor Sharon. "

The next moment he was next to me, holding my hands, gazing me with his mesmerizing eyes,

"I found you, my home. "
Was all he said, that's all I ever wanted to hear.

Maybe I am not alone anymore, god must have pitied me, he let me meet my best friend, who later became my husband and gave me the family I desired.

He told me I was rushed to   the hospital he was working in, he is a neurosurgeon, when he saw me covered in blood, he said his heart stopped beating for a second, he came back to our town recently. Since then he was trying to find me. I moved from suberbs three years back.  And no one knew about my whereabouts. But my misfortune led me towards him.

I never thought that childhood crush on my best friend will be granted with love of lifetime.

At first it was difficult to accept him, but with time he stood by my side  , always waiting for me.

Together with him I grieved, together with him I smiled and together with him I lived happily.
