Home At Last

Tommy carried Smajor on his back for a while after the boat ride.

Jack and Tommy joked about Jack's 'Nether Accent' as Tommy called it.
Skipping over words and pronouncing things weirdly. Not to mention a lack of knowledge for simple things like leaves, and grass, and stone.

Then, as if on instinct, Tommy randomly began singing.
"Castaways, we are castaways!" Tommy hummed as he wobbled under the older.

"Here I can take him," Jack offered.
They shifted Smajor to the older of the two and continued on.

By the time the sun was setting again Smajor was waking up.
"I'm sorry, did you carry me the whole time?!" Smajor asked.
"Nah, Tommy carried you too, brother!" Jack joked.
Smajor cocked his head.
"Sorry, inside joke," Jack replied.

"Oh?" Smajor softly smiled at him.
Jack grinned and nodded.
"We had to lie to a boat rower-" Jack explained.
"Not what they're called!" Tommy cut in.
Jack continued, "that you were my Blazeborn brother! And Tommy was an insecure Elytrian!"

Smajor chuckled.
"Close enough, I'm a Starborne!" Smajor chuckled and Jack grinned.

For a while after that, they switched to joking about Smajor's accent, which he too gladly joined in on.

"Castaways, we are castaways," Tommy murmured.
Smajor cocked his head at him.

"Noooo, Luke, you've got it stuck in my head again!" Tommy whined.
Jack and Smajor just blinked at him.
Tommy turned and grinned at them.
"Sorry, it's a stupid song my Friend used to sing all the time whenever we were misbehaving and going out," Tommy explained with a soft hearty chuckle.

Smajor smiled. Jack laughed.
"How often did you misbehave back home?" Jack asked.
"Oh, all the time!" Tommy admitted.
"Really?" Smajor asked and Tommy nodded.

"Yeah! I'd usually be being myself and then someone, usually a teacher but sometimes the other kids, would get all b*tchy about it and Deo wouldn't be having none of that because I'm his friend and he has to stick up for his friends, ya know? Anyways, so he'd pull me out of class all angry and then he'd storm into Bitzel and Luke's classes and drag them out too and the teachers would yell at him and he'd just flip them off. And then we'd go to the cherry tree patch and we'd climb the trees because they wouldn't be blooming yet, and we'd do our homework and we'd jump off the trees to see how far we could go and we'd race back to the tree. But Luke couldn't continue doing it after he turned 11 because he grew but his waist parachute didn't so he couldn't protect himself. He's real strong like he could probably pick up a tree no problem, but Bitzel says he's vulnerable so he's very overprotective of him. Deo finds it kind of funny. Luke luckily doesn't seem to mind though," Tommy rambled.

"What's Deo like?" Smajor indulged, ducking under some branches.
"Deo? Oh, he's great!" Tommy began.

"He's really, really cool! He likes Christmas a lot, wears the Santa hat a ton just for the fun of it. He's super chill and I like to tease him about being a carrot because he likes to wear orange a lot. And like, he does this thing where he like- ya know," Tommy waved his hands around trying to describe something but they had no idea quite what it was he was talking about.
"And he wears these glasses, uh... Shades! He wears shades and they make him look really cool. I think it's because he has a bad reaction to the shift between lighting. Like when you go inside and it's dark and then outside is really bright? Yeah, he's sensitive to that. I dunno what it's called though," Tommy explained jumping in a puddle, Jack screeched as he tried avoiding the spicy liquid and Tommy laughed.

"He's the best, I love him- all of them so much! You guys should meet them! You'd like them too!" Tommy announced spinning.
Acting like the child he was. It was actually pretty reassuring.

"Really? I'd love to meet them!" Smajor assured.
"Yep! You'd get along with them, I can tell!" Tommy agreed as they climbed a high hill.

"And really I think-" Tommy cut himself off with a shriek.
He grabbed their arms and raced forward.

"What?! What's wrong?!" Smajor asked frantically.
Tommy let them go as they came to the opening.

Tommy practically launched himself into the pond with a squeal of excitement.
He popped back up and ran his hands through his now wet hair as his parachute tried catching his nonexistent fall.

He looked like a jellyfish.
"Home! Jack, Jack, home!" Tommy proclaimed pulling himself out of the water with a sneeze and a bit of a struggle.

Then he was off again.
He got to a treehouse and did a pullup to see inside.
"Tubs?"
He dropped back down and rushed to a tattered nest.

He scooped up the remnants of anything valuable and then rushed to a nearby cave.

"Boo? Techie?" Tommy called, recalling the others being mentioned as being gone.
He found no one in there though. Slightly disappointed, he dropped the valuables onto the floor of the car and rushed out.

"We should make a tower! Here, I'll show you how!" Tommy exclaimed rushing to the field.

It took a couple of moments but soon they had the first block of stone down. Which was weird, how the f*ck did he do that?

It only took a few seconds later for the next to be placed. And only a little while later for both Jack and Tommy to be 80y up and Smajor to be scouring the area for any dangers.

Smajor looked up and let out a soft squawk at the height and the fact they were building over nothing with nothing but a single human wide really tall stone rod to hold them up.

"Boys, please be careful!" Smajor called.
"We will!" Tommy assured.

"Ok, stay here, I'll be right back!" Tommy assured Jack.
Then, he jumped off the side of the Platform.
Jack watched him go. Smajor let out a shriek a burst of light emitting from him.

Tommy was fine.
It was fiiiiinne.

Still, Smajor fussed over him for a solid minute.
Finally, he let him go. He watched him closely as he made a crafting table, then sticks, then paused trying to figure out how to make ladders.

"Three on each side and one in the middle or one on the top and bottom," Smajor informed.
"How do you know?" Tommy teased.
Smajor flushed and began trying to defend himself.
It didn't matter to Tommy though because it worked.

He rushed back to the pillar and began to set them up on it.
"Can you bring the crafting table up after me?" Tommy asked.

"Uh, ok!" Smajor replied.
"Scott," Mama hummed in his ears.
It nearly caused him to jump.
"Oh, mama! You've been awfully silent this trip," Smajor noted hoisting up the table.

"Apologies my child," she giggled.
"What is it, mama?" Smajor asked.
"You're going to carry the crafting table up the ladder aren't you?" She asked.
"Yep!" Smajor agreed.
"Alright, how?" Mama hummed.

. . . .

"Aheheh! I uh-" Smajor tried laughing it off.
Mama snorted.
"I'll teach you how," she hummed.

Tommy reached the top and put his hands on his hips proudly.
Jack jokingly clapped for him as the younger bowed.

Tommy stepped forward and they chatted about how Tommy did that while they waited for Smajor.
Although luckily, and surprisingly, it didn't take long for him to come up and place the table down.

"Oh, oh, Jack you should make beds!" Tommy informed.
"We'll help you through it! Promise!" Tommy assured.

And help him through it they did. Smajor provided wool, Tommy provided the wood. Tommy showed him how to make the logs into planks. Jack got super excited about it. Then, Smajor informed him of the layout to make a bed.
3 wool on top of 3 planks.

It came out and Jack gasped proudly. They placed it down on the platform and they gawked at it.

To be fair, it wasn't very comfortable. But compared to the cave floors Jack has been sleeping on his whole life, and the floors of the current cave Tommy had been settled in, it was heaven.

"Tommy! Tommy feel this!" Jack encouraged pulling Tommy onto the cot.
"Oooo," Tommy played along.
Jack reached forward and pulled Smajor onto the cot.

"What is this?" Jack asked.
"You've never- it's a bed," Smajor informed carefully.
Jack gawked repeating the word.
A scrambled across it to make another one, seeing he had enough material.
And Smajor was happy to help with the 1 wool he was missing.

Meanwhile, Tommy gazed down over the edge.
It was dark, the sky was beautiful, the air was chilly.
It felt like home...

Smajor grabbed the back collar of Tommy's patagium pulling him back towards the center of the cot.
Jack was snickering from the second cot he had made which he had placed beside the first without Tommy even realizing.

"Sleepy there?" Jack teased.
"What can I say? I'm a sleepy boi!" Tommy joked with a yawn.
"A sleepy, sleepy boi-" he trailed off as he slipped into a slumber hunched over into Smajor's arms leaving the 2 older boys to snicker at him.
