Chapter 6: Invisible threads
"Thanks."
Swara looked at Sanskaar who was already looking at her with a small smile, a smile which could flutter one's heart.
"Finally! Atleast you smiled this time or else I could have declared that you can never smile at all." Swara chuckled softly as the entered the cafe.
"Coffee? My treat." Sanskaar spoke as he entered in the counter cabinet.
"Sure." Swara sat down in her usual spot while Sanskaar went into the kitchen and few minutes later came with 2 coffee mugs and sat opposite to Swara who was staring at the street through glass panels. Mumbling a thank you, Swara took her mug and her eyes automatically went back to the same as before.
"Mm-- actually I wanted to know something---" Swara's gaze shifted to his as he continued. "I have no idea how you know about Sasha and me in first case but still you had the choice, you could have not showed me her true face but why did you? We are not even friends but what made you help me?" Sanskaar was actually curious to know the answer which was pondering in his mind ever since they came out of the club.
"So that's what you were thinking all the way from club." Swara smiled. "Sanskaar, you see you seems to be a nice boy. I know we still don't have much interaction but still I can see you are innocent and Sasha... She's such bitc-- Ah! a venomous snake I tell you. All she could do is to attract people through her figure and get whatever she wants but neither her mind nor heart is working properly." She explained.
"But how do you know about it?" Sanskaar asked further.
"I saw you both talk when I returned from staff room after English period. All ogling at you and I found it." She said as her mind remembered the flashback.
"Mm."
"But there was something." Sanskaar who was concentrating on the coffee looked up and met her eyes. "I mean for the whole month I saw her loiter around you but you didn't bother. All of a sudden you both were talking and today's incident You did feel uncomfortable but you didn't reject her offer. Did you liked her or something?" Swara asked with a wink as Sanskaar's eyes widened.
"No!" He said quickly but further added. "It was not like I liked her but it was out generosity. She was clinging on to me like a leach. Though I already told her not to, she did and I had no other choice to go through her ways and cut the connection from root. Who knew that she would be this disgusting." Sanskaar made a bad face remembering her.
Swara laughed out loud reading his facial expressions for a minute.
"But I thought you liked the leach, oops! Sasha because your eyes kinda had that glow." Swara muffled again.
"Do you read minds? Fine! I agree I kind of liked her-- Maybe 10%? She proposed me three days ago and I didn't say anything as usual." He didn't know why he actually spoke the truth but he did.
"I knew it. So are you going to have vodka and spend your night mourning your heart break by her and sing 'Channa Mereya?" Swara teased.
"Yuck! No way, I would be happy singing 'mere saiyyan ji se aaj maine breakup kar liya." And both laughed.
"She paid for one of her sins, I appreciate that hard slap." Sanskaar gave a slight nod as Swara giggled remembering Sasha's so called beautiful face turning blue when he slapped her.
"She deserves more but I have my own morals. I don't touch women and she crossed those limits." Sanskaar said sipping his coffee.
"She's not a woman, she's a bit-- Oh oh my! If my mother sees me speak that she'll dig my grave and bury me alive." Swara slapped herself slightly while Sanskaar chuckled.
"Let's leave her in exception then since she deserves that though." And Swara agreed to his statement.
"How do you this much detail about her?" Sanskaar asked they both got up from the seats.
"Don't let anyone know this. Actually she tried oogling at Jay before Aditi and she kind of used him. Jay was quick enough to realize that earlier and when he dug her information we found that she had done that too many people and Jay was just one among them. So before I went to abroad I tore her real face to everyone but she still seems to be the same." Swara sighed.
"There would be a day where she'll realize her mistakes." He commented.
"Let's hope that and thanks for the wonderful coffee treat. I loved it." Swara thanked as they walked out of the cafe.
"Pleasure's all mine after all you helped me." Sanskaar said sincerely while Swara gave a slight nod with a smile.
"Good night Sanskaar."
"Good night Swara."
Her name, She felt nice to hear it from him.
~
"Sanskaar!" Sasha yelled for the last time seeing his retreating figure. No one has rejected her but he did and that too with a slap-- she touched her cheek which still ached due to the effect of the hard slap of his. Sasha burnt in anger but her heart feared remembering his dangerous warning. For the moment she saw a different person, A dangerous monster in him. Those eyes no more reflected calmness instead it was on fire, a fire which would consume her in whole and burn her too. But the humiliation she faced was way more too much to bear.
Swara came back from the canteen drinking her orange juice since it was break time. When she suddenly felt a hand moving towards her, her sixth sense warned and she quickly reacted by taking the person's hand and twisting it and held it behind the person's back.
"Ouch Swara-- Leave me!" Came a scream from Sasha.
"Don't regret when I leave you." Swara warned her sweetly.
"Leave me." Sasha screamed more as the pain increased with very passing second and in a moment she was on the floor whining in pain.
"I told you if I leave you could regret but when have you listened to me?" Swara made a fake sad face which made Sasha burn more. She quickly stood up and held Swara's hand who was about to leave. Swara who was a sharped eye person felt Sasha's rage burning. The students halted in their places as their eyes fixed on these two girls.
"It was you who brought Sanskaar there right?" Swara chose to stay silent. "I knew it! I knew it was you after all a boy like Sanskaar, how can he come to club?" Sasha gave a dry laugh. "You'll regret for crossing my path sweet heart."
Swara rolled her eyes.
"I'm sorry to break the bubble you blew at the moment Sasha. I'm way more dangerous for your so called beauty and heart, try me and you'll know." She said calmly, the calmness you find before a huge hurricane. Swara slapped her arm and left from the place.
Sasha felt more humiliated as she saw students gathering and gossiping looking at her. It irked her more.
"Done watching a free show? Now leave." Sasha yelled and other students just left from the place.
"This is not done Swara!"
~
"Sasha would you help me?"
Sasha's eyes popped out and her heart paused for a second. Laksh Maheshwari, One of the handsome hunk of the school was asking help from her? How could she miss this boy.
"Of course Laksh anything for you." Sasha stood up from her seat and spoke in her sugar coated voice.
"Come." Sasha followed Laksh who was walking a ahead of her.
~
"Guys! Laksh and Sasha are fighting in the ground." As soon as they heard the boy all the students got up following the boy.
Swara, Jay and Aditi who were chit chatting having their lunch looked at each other in shock. Swara dropped her spoon down and ran to the ground and her jaws hit the ground when she saw Laksh chocking Sasha's throat. No way she can let this slide. Laksh and his anger never goes right, Never! She somehow managed to surf into the crowd and ran to Laksh who had two students pulling him back but alas! They couldn't.
"Laksh!"
Laksh's grip on Sasha loosened a bit as his eyes met Swara's worried ones but his anger again overpowered his eyes remembering Sasha's deeds and he held her tight again. Sasha was completely red with tears flowing down from her eyes.
"Laksh leave her." Swara tried to pull him away from her but he seems to be more strong.
"No way Swara, Do you know what she did?" His voice roared making the everyone silent.
"She planned to lock you in the P.e.t room which is in the stage of a dungeon." Swara's eyes widened in shock. She never knew Sasha would do that and if that had happened then her state would have been worse. The entire crowd gasped in shock and it soon broke into gossips.
Laksh's eyes were in blood red. No way he let his girl get hurt and this Sasha planned it then how can he slide this issue silently. Swara though was shocked by her plan it was further worried her when she saw Sasha literally dying painfully in Laksh's hard clutch.
"Laksh it's fine and let her go." Swara tried to pull away his fingers from her and Laksh paused and due to that Sasha automatically was dropped on the floor completely weak and coughed badly.
"Are you serious Swara? You want me to let go of her when I'm telling she was about to hurt you?" Laksh asked still not able to digest the fact that Swara wanted to leave her. How could she?
"Laksh.."
"No Swara." He shook his head in disbelief. "I warn you all, try to touch Swara then you would have to go through me first." With that roar to the crowd Laksh stormed out of the gathering letting the crowd gasp again. Swara's eyes closed tightly in frustration for a minute.
"Can anyone help me to send Sasha to the medical room?" Swara looked at the crowd and few students voluntarily helped the sub conscious Sasha.
Swara sighed heavily and took a deep breathe in. Laksh had anger issues that he gets too hyper when he gets angry. Everytime he gets angry Swara had to worry if he could take any wrong steps due to his anger. She walked away looking for Laksh after informing to Jay while Sanskaar was far away from the chaos in the library burying his head in the books.
Laksh sat on the backyard of the school where no was there. His blood was still boiling and his veins were still rooting up to kill Sasha, if not for her words then Sasha would have seen death through him. He opened the soda can and sipped some to cool down his anger but he couldn't stop thinking about what would have happened to Swara if he had not accidentally heard her plan while she was talking to one of her friend. Laksh closed his eyes tightly remembering the scene. He hated the way Swara was concerning that bloody girl even after knowing her intentions about killing her she still was taking Sasha's side. How can she? How can she be good to even to the person who wants to hurt her?
Swara who was searching for Laksh found him sitting on the backyard sipping his soda can and staring at the grass musing over his thoughts. She had no idea how he looked so calm after leaving Sasha chocking her to death. Feeling a constant gaze on him Laksh turned around and saw Swara standing and very well known about her intentions he turned away.
"Laksh--" Swara frowned.
"Swara if you are going to lecture me about that girl then let me make it clear, I don't want to talk about it." Laksh declared as he sipped in his soda trying his best to keep calm.
"But chocking her to death isn't right either." Swara's voice softened while Laksh looked at her.
"Seriously Swara? She was planning to lock you up and leave you to death so you think that's right either?" He snapped at her angrily.
"I know she's wrong but your haste actions would have landed you in trouble and I can take care of myself. Don't repeat it again." She explained.
"Swara I have told you before and I'm repeating it again. If I get to know anyone trying to hurt the person I love then they will have to face my wrath who ever it is." Laksh threw the soda can in anger and left as Swara sighed. No ways he was going to understand her point.
As soon as she reached her class Swara placed her head on the table with her eyes closed. So much drama-- she was completely exhausted. After Laksh left she went to the pharmacy block to see Sasha and to her shock total Sasha literally panicked see her and mumbled repeatedly in fright that she would never come near her. Swara was dumbfounded for few minutes, the girl who challenged her was now fearing just with her appearance.
She wanted to have rest and as if her prayers were heard the last bell rang and in no seconds she quickly packed her bag and walked out of the class first and the fate seems not to favour her when she found that the driver has still not come. Sighing heavily Swara pouted cursing her fate and she walked towards the bus stop and bumped into someone.
Who now?
Swara looked up and saw Sanskaar with a irritated face as his eyes scanned on the papers dropped due to the bump. Both quickly took all the papers and Swara gave the papers to Sanskaar.
"Sorry I--"
"Where do you keep eyes when you walk on the road?" Sanskaar snapped angrily as the papers which was placed in order was now scattered and unordered.
"I asked sorry for that and where did you have your eyes? Don't you have sense that you should look the road rather then walking with papers?" Swara equally snapped. She was already so pissed and exhausted and she least expected to burst out her anger.
"Whatever." Sanskaar shrugged her off and walked towards the bus stop as his cycle was punctured last night. As soon as they reached the bus stop he turned to see Swara too standing beside him.
"Now what? Are you planning to follow me?" She dry chuckled sarcastically.
"Keep your high hopes down mister. Since the driver has not come and so I'm boarding the bus." Swara said and turned away.
"High hopes? On you?" Sanskaar laughed while Swara threw deadly daggers to him.
"You--" Swara pointed at him but her voice abruptly stood and their eyes followed where they saw a pregnant woman screaming in pain holding her large belly. Swara and Sanskaar quickly ran to the woman and Swara supported her by holding her shoulders and mumbling soft words to her that everything would be fine.
Sanskaar looked around to get any help but none came forward to help.
"Sanskaar I think she's in labour let's take her to the hospital." Swara said anxiously worrying about the woman. Sanskaar agreed. Thankfully they got a help from a cab driver who was much understanding and helped the students and in no minutes they took the woman to the hospital.
~
"Students we need a signature of the patient's relative." The doctor said in hurry with a form pad in her hand.
"A woman inside is dying in pain and all you need is a signature to proceed? What are you even saying doctor? Even after knowing the consequence if not operated you are still asking me this? I am the owner's daughter of the hospital." Swara breathed and had her eyes closed for a second. She hated using her family name. "Please proceed with the medication and we'll inform the relative." Swara pleaded with her hands folded.
"Please doctor." Sanskaar too pleaded.
"Fine. I'll proceed with it but the form needs to be signed." The doctor was still hesitant but still agreed.
"I'll sign the form." Swara breathed as she signed the form. The doctor left inside the ward and Swara wiped the sweat sighing in relief.
"Sanskaar you stay here I'll call up her husband and let him know." Swara ran to the paying counter with the number she got from the woman and called up the patient's husband. Informing she returned back.
"What happened?" Sanskaar asked rubbing his palms together.
"Her husband is a doctor and he seems to be operating someone." Swara sat beside Sanskaar with her eyes closed. Their ears were filled with painful loud scream making both of them worry much. They were not used to these type of things. For Sanskaar his last visit to hospital was three month a ago when his grandma had an attack and later he did come take her to the check ups often. Swara loathed hospitals to her life as it brought unwanted memories to her but still she was there only because of the delivery.
"How strange life is!" Swara who watched the sun set in the sky and about to hide behind the clouds looked at Sanskaar as he continued. "A baby is finally about to see the world but the baby's father is saving another human's life who's about to die." Swara smiled faintly.
Swara's eyes opened up when her ears was replaced but a baby's voice. Swara and Sanskaar looked at each other with a smile.
"Finally everything's going to be fine." Sanskaar whispered as an uncontrollable happiness took place in his heart wiping out every worry which flooded in his heart just with a thought of a little bundle of joy would see the world and the same happiness reflected on Swara too.
"Yeah. She would be so happy seeing her little baby in her arms. All her pain would vanish when she sees her baby." Swara smiled brightly and sighed in relief. She felt as if a heavy burden was lifted up from her shoulders.
Soon the nurse came with the baby wrapped in a white cloth in her arms. Swara and Sanskaar ran towards the nurse.
"It's a baby boy."
The nurse further informed she would handover the baby after cleaning up and as promised the nurse placed the baby in Swara's arms carefully who hesitated being a little afraid if she might hurt the little being but as the nurse insisted Swara accepted. She didn't have the exact words to tell what was the emotion she felt, was it happy, sad, fear-- she didn't know how to explain the unfamiliar emotion she felt. With tiny fingers curled in fist and eyelashes beating against the skin with his gaze fixed on Swara and Sanskaar the baby boy giggled and her every fear flew away. Sanskaar made funny faces and Swara played with the baby. The small boy took Swara's ring finger with his small hands a snuggled in her arms with a smile.
"Aww.. my baby boy loves me so much." Swara giggled and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.
"This is so bad. I made you giggle and you hold only her hand not fair." Sanskaar complained making Swara chuckle seeing him complain like a baby to another baby while the little boy made baby sounds.
"Sanskaar you see he loves me more, haina baby?" Swara asked in a baby voice while Sanskaar ruffled his damp hair with a smile. The baby suddenly cried and when Sanskaar took him in his arms the baby abruptly silenced and looked at Sanskaar with his black eyes making Swara shocked.
"What did you just do?" She asked while smiled teasingly and winked at her. "Magic!"
Playing happily for sometime they returned the baby back to the nurse and after making sure the mother of the baby was fine they were in relief.
"Such a cute baby na?"
"Yes and I hope the father of the baby will come soon."
Just then a young man came to the ward inside the ward in hurry.
"Varun Uncle you?" Swara stood up with a smile. She had been searching for him.
"Swara? What are you doing here?" Varun asked in confusion as he know her dislike towards hospital.
"Oh that actually we gotta a help a pregnant woman who was in labour." Swara explained.
"God! So it was you students who called me." Varun breathed.
"You? Uncle you mean the baby's mother's--"
"Husband." Varun completed her words and in no minute Swara took him in a hug. She didn't know it was Varun's wife as they got married when was in Los Angeles.
"I became godmother!" Swara exclaimed in happiness and Sanskaar watched her. He could no more recognize the Swara who was silent and obdient to this bubbly, sweet girl.
"You are." Varun laughed and he saw Sanskaar who was already looking at them.
"Who's he?" Swara broke the hug and walked to Sanskaar.
"My classmate and my friend." She looked at him. "This is Varun, Jay's uncle and probably my uncle too." She introduced with a never ending smile.
"Hello sir." Sanskaar greeted and Varun gave a smile mumbling a thank you.
"Jay lost his chance to hold his godchild but I did even before you uncle. He's going to burn." Swara chuckled remembering her best friend. She's going to have so much fun making him jealous.
"Unless you both don't get into a big fight anything is okay. Now go back to your houses it's already going to be eight." Varun said to which Swara and Sanskaar nodded.
The return journey was silent. Sanskaar still could not get over the shade of Swara he saw few minutes ago. She looked so happy and her smile looked more prettier than the usual ones she would do at school. She smiled but her eyes told a different story, she laughed but it was hollow. A small part of him wanted to see the Swara who would smile wholeheartedly like that once more, If anyone could have seen that smile they would have fallen for her that very moment.
"Thanks for everything."
Swara had a soft smile on her lips and Sanskaar paused his thoughts when he heard Swara.
"Sure." Sanskaar smiled in return and watched her getting into her mansion.
