Chapter 36: Bestfriends

"You know I only hype for Jay's matches. So why are we here?" With a pout Swara walked in between the two bodyguards, Arya and Sanskaar who were hell bent on pulling her to the football field along with Aditi who was not willing as Swara too.

"Now both of you sit here. Trust me this match is going to be fun." Arya exclaimed and the girls were still not convinced with whatever the boys were uttering to them. It was going to be the third day since Jay has left for a match to Pune and Aditi was missing Jay so much despite the chats they do every night, all she wanted was the day to end quickly so that she could see him tomorrow, since he would come back the next day as planned. Swara too missed her best friend and Mia would always mention Jay's name making her miss him even more.

Sanskaar sat beside Swara on the end, Aditi next to her and Arya took the other end seat in the second row. There were two clear cheering sides, one the Elite's and the other, the Xavier's. The weather was cloudy but was either cold nor warm. Aditi watched the fellow players stretching and practicing with the ball near the goal and the thought that see couldn't see Jay made her sad.

"He's going to come back tomorrow, so bring the smile and ditch the saddening face." Swara cheered up and Aditi smiled. How much ever they fight, they always stay together in times of need and support.

"Your own words applies to you too." Sanskaar whispered in her ears and blinked his eyes in assurance. Swara smiled, he knows her too well.

"Good evening! Welcome to the opening game for this school year soccer championship. Let's welcome the Xavier's team." Cheers and applause were heard from the opposite side supporters, "Now the Elite's." Now this time, everyone including the boys and girls cheered their school team but what caught them off guard was Jay entering into the ground winking at his girlfriend and bestfriend as he twirled the soccer ball in his hand leisurely.

Aditi was almost in the verge of spilling her happy tears as she saw Jay while Swara still couldn't believe she saw Jay, walking into the field leading the team.

"Don't worry, you aren't in the dream world." Sanskaar laughed at her expressions and confirmed her that it was not a day dream but the reality.

The Boys already pre-planned about the surprise as Jay informed them about his early arrival since his match was pre-poned only to watch the girls get stunned, and that's what happened too.

"You're bestfriend's back, Now time for me to vanish." Sanskaar made a pout while Swara's gaze shifted from the field to him, rolling her eyes.

"You know very well that's not true. I've got two good best friends and trust me both are one good nutcase." Swara said and Sanskaar had his eyes wide, Did she just call Jay and him a nutcase?

And even before he could ask her, the whistle was blown indicating that the match was about to start. Both the teams players were all enthusiastic and energetic and they left no chances to strike the goals. Almost through first half both the teams chased each other ending up with the tie points.

Jay was able to goal almost all the ball that was passed to him by his teammates and the fellow mates was doing a great job too.

"Captain run!" Arya exclaimed as he saw Jay getting the ball passed to him while Jay tackled his opponents with ease but what he didn't see was the goalkeeper crashing to him in a thud. A scream of horror left both the boys and girls when they saw Jay on the ground, writhing in pain holding his face.

Aditi had already ran down to the bleachers that divided the field and watchers stadium and others too rushed down to see if he was doing okay. Jay got up with the help of his fellow teammates and they helped him move out of the field with a pained expression as his nose bleed with the unexpected fall.

The referee pulled out a yellow card as a warning to the goalkeeper. The coach handed over a cloth and Jay quickly wiped off the blood while the coach was asking if he was doing better. Jay turned to look at his friends standing at the edge of the bleachers with a worried face. He quickly mouthed "I'm okay" with a assuring smile before went back into the field.

The game continued with the tension in the air between the teams. The Elite's were ranging in anger about the pathetic trick the Xavier's pulled on their captain and owed to win this match to give them a harsh reality slap no matter what.

Jay though continued to play, often kept a check on his nose if it was bleeding. Thankfully his nose bone wasn't damaged. As his fellow mate passed over the ball, Jay was quick to trick his opponent as was about to reach to his opponent's side goal. Everyone rose up from their seats in excitement since it was the last point, Jay kicked the ball diagonally and the goalkeeper was not able to defend thus making the Elite's win.

The Elite's supporters were screaming at the victory while Jay had his hand stretched in the air, celebrating the victory as he passed an devilish smirk to the one who pulled that nasty trick before being embraced by his teammates in joy. Presenting the team, Jay as the Captain got the prize and also won the 'Man of the Match' title for his tremendous play on the field.

Once Jay was out of the field, he was embraced by a worried Aditi while the Arya and Sanskaar stood beside him.

"I'll punch that freaking douche bag for hitting you Jay." Arya fumed. He was so mad when he saw the goalkeeper hit his friend intentionally and would have gone into the field and hit the boy if not Sanskaar had stopped him.

"He's already a nose chopped lizard, Arya. Now stop fuming. Jay has already returned the favour." Sanskaar said making Jay smile and Arya rubbed his nape. He was still not convinced though whatever Sanskaar had told was true.

"Aditi I'm really okay. If you keep worrying then you'll only get stress lines on your forehead and trust me I'll ditch you if that happens." Jay teased and Aditi's mouth parted into an 'O' hearing him.

"So you mean you'll ditch me if I turn ugly? That's mean Mr. Jay Sharma!" Aditi complained and the boys chuckled at her drama, "Come here." He pulled Aditi in his arms as he rubbed her back a little to comfort her.

Just a few distance away, Swara stood, watching the scenario and left out a sigh on learning Jay was doing really good and there was nothing to worry about. Though Swara was the first who found where Jay was she couldn't keep another step forward when she saw Aditi had already embraced Jay in a tight hug. Jay who now saw his best friend standing a few meters away from him, blinked in assurance.

"Are you okay?" Swara mouthed.

"I'm really okay." Jay mouthed back to her before pulling Aditi out from his arms to crack another joke and make her laugh.

Swara couldn't express the feeling she felt in words or action, but that feeling stopped her from going to Jay. She knew it was wrong to feel envious and insecure but she couldn't help it. Quickly shrugging off the thoughts Swara started walking away from the place so that she would no more think of such things.

"Swara, wait." Sanskaar jogged towards Swara who just turned towards him when she heard him. When he didn't find Swara, he quickly excused and walked off to search for the girl only to find her walking towards the exit of the stadium.

"Where are the others?" Swara asked shifting her gaze to Sanskaar.

"The team has planned for a party in the near by shop so all have gone. Aren't you joining?" Sanskaar questioned and Swara shook her head in no wrapping her hands on her arms.

"So what's budging you?" When the question was asked, Swara didn't know how to react. She didn't how he gets to know everything even when she doesn't say out verbally.

"Nothing." She tried to shrug off the topic but Sanskaar only glared at her, "Of course, It's nothing if you say." Swara momentarily shut her eyelids, trying to hide things to him was such a bad idea.

"Sanskaar do you think it's okay to feel a little insecure with your best friend?" Sanskaar tilted his head to Swara who was looking straight but he knew she was lost somewhere, "Is it about Jay?"

"I mean I know Jay has his own life, his own space to live life but-- all of a sudden seeing Aditi with Jay, this time felt so different. Because everytime he was hurt in the past it was only me who would nurse him but today seeing it wasn't me but someone else-- I really need time to adjust." Swara paused and shook her head, "This sounds so wrong." Swara sighed heavily looking defeated.

Sanskaar held her shoulders and stopped her from walking further, "Feeling this way is not wrong at all Swara. Insecurities and jealously makes a healthy relationship, it is not wrong until it goes out of boundaries. To be brutally honest, Even I feel a little jealous when I see Jay and you." She looked at Sanskaar with wide eyes as she couldn't believe what he just said, "Is that true?"

"I'm not jealous of Jay as a person, but I am jealous of your's and Jay's friendship." Sanskaar confessed, "There's something special and deep about the bond you both share Swara. I'm not sure if you both realise that but trust me every time I look at you both, it makes anyone want to have a best friend like you both. Sometimes I even wonder how you both managed to stay through thick and thin and still be together without falling apart irrespective of how busy you both are. It's rare!" Sanskaar could even end up looking at these two best friends forever if they get locked in a room together. And Swara could only smile at the words he uttered.

"I've known Jay since the day he was born upto this date, Sanskaar. He was there everytime, be it in my laughter or tears, In spite of having his own life troubles Jay not even for once left me alone when I went through horrible things. When life threw lemons at us, he made sure to collect it all to make lemonade and shared it with me too. Jay might be irritating, annoying but a friend everyone who love to have by their sides for the entire life." Swara had so much to say when it came to Jay, after all they've been together irrespective of all how they don't get to hang out like before due to his football matches but even a minute was enough for them to cherish and create memories.

"Are you sure you aren't in love with him? Because half of the school has this rumor considering you both as lovers." Sanskaar lifted his eyebrow and Swara could only laugh at the question he asked.

"Of course I love him but not that romantic kind of, but the kind where you know that person is very important, very special that you can trade anything in your life to make the person stay. And Jay would always be that person to me. I know I sound like his wife." Swara chuckled at her own last statement, "Don't let him know all this because I can't see Jay smile like one idiot and about dating, On a serious note I don't know from where the theory came from. Common, its not like when a boy and girl are close, they should be in love, isn't it?" Sanskaar nodded his head with a grin. Somewhere he felt a sense of relief wash over him but he quickly shrugged it off. Swara and Jay were often misunderstood to be a couple back then and even now but they made sure Aditi know that they don't share such romantic relation as said by others and being very understanding, Aditi too understood it.

"You talk so much about Jay then me?" And could only go awe at his puppy dog expression, she quickly pulled his cheeks making him to whine and she laughed, "Not you too are my best friend, Sanskaar. As much as Jay's with me, you too accompany me in all my ups and downs. You would always be the one I lean on and lend my shoulder anytime. I'm seriously lucky to have two boy besties." Swara confessed and Sanskaar smiled at his victory of changing her mood, "You speak so much about Jay and you know he won't sideline you and yet you feel insecure?"

"Because insecurities cannot be controlled, at one point of time everyone feels that way even though they already know it's not worth it. It will fade off soon with time." Swara blinked her eyes in assurance as they continued walking with usual banters to entertain each other.

Swara was about to enter her mansion only to be greeted by the mists of laughter of the little princess of the house that was echoed till the entrance. When she entered in, Swara was surprised only to see Jay busy tickling Mia. Wasn't he supposed to be with team celebrating their victory?

"Shona save me!" Mia jumped off from the couch and ran to Swara breathing heavily. Swara chuckled as she pulled the little ones in her arms and shifted her gaze to Jay who came near them.

"Now I became the bad and your Shona became the saviour? Unfair cutiepie." Jay complained to Mia while she hid her face in Swara's neck taking heavy breathes.

"Now will pastries I brought make me get some bonus points from you?" The moment Mia heard about 'Pasteries' she looked at Jay with twinkling eyes.

"Pasteries!!" Mia exclaimed happily and Jay grinned. He rubbed his nose with hers making Mia giggle at the ticklish feeling she felt.

"Jay what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in the party your team organised?" Swara questioned before letting Mia down on the floor since she started pestering to let her on the ground.

"I was, but it wasn't that interesting so I sneaked out." Jay winked at Swara who shook her in disbelief. There the entire team was celebrating the victory of the match and this boy is here playing with Mia like any other day.

"Or let's frame the sentence again, Maybe because my best friend who was supposed to be beside me was no where to be seen. So I came back." Swara narrowed her eyes at Jay. But her eyes softened when she saw his nose still red.

"Is it still hurting?" Jay touched his nose a little and shook his head in no. The pain had reduced in a greater level yet his nose still stung but of course he wasn't going to give this detail to Swara so that she does not worry.

Jay pulled Swara in a bear hug and softly stroked her hair, "I'm really doing good Swara so you don't have to worry." And Swara said nothing but instead smiled as he wrapped her arms around him, "I hate to admit, but I missed you."

"I missed you too, very much. So let's make a plan to make up our missing days." He ruffled her hair a little. Only god knows how much he had missed Swara for these two days. Almost three days and he has already felt like seeing her after ages.

"I got cakes, Jeejay!!" Mia came out from the kitchen with plate served with a strawberry cake gaining both, Swara and Jay's attention. Mia gave a flying kiss and Jay quickly caught the invisible hearts and tugged it into the pocket. While Swara had a genuine smile seeing the other two.

"Come let's eat too." Swara was about to leave but then Jay stopped her by pulling her wrist making Swara look back at him.

"Swara, though I might be away from you chasing my own goal and busy with my own problems remember at the end of the day I would come back to you, just to irritate you because getting rid of me is impossible in this life for you. I know it might not be smooth as always but even if I could I'll always keep you in my thoughts." Swara was stunned with confessions Jay made out of no where. It took her minutes to register the words and it didn't take her rocket science to understand, he noticed. Jay had a stubble smile. He was not a fool to know what those confused eyes, awful silence and distance meant. All her insecurities and envy feelings was washed away in minutes and no where to be found the very second Jay uttered those sentences which held so much of sincerity and honestly in it.

"Can I even hide anything from you?" Swara hugged him again and Jay laughed, "You aren't supposed to."

"No wonder everyone misunderstanding you both to be lovers, look at you two." Reema walked out of the kitchen with two plates of pasteries for the two.

Swara and Jay chuckled looking at each other on hearing Reema's words, "If we look like boyfriend- girlfriend type then let it be. Anyways I love my baby." Jay wrapped his arms around Swara's neck and winked at Reema who gave a 'you are unbelievable' look.

"Oye! You already have a beautiful girlfriend named Aditi. You better don't cheat her if you don't want to have your beautiful face disfigured." Swara whispered to Jay who looked at her with wide eyes, "Who's side are you? hers or mine? you wild cat." Jay narrowed his eyes, "Definitely on both the sides my dearest boyfriend!" Swara stressed the "dearest" word and laughed when Jay started making sulking faces, she quickly ruffled his hair and Jay whined like a kid.

"We'll go?"

"Let's go."
