5) Late Night Talks
"Okay..." Jack trailed off, not knowing how to properly start the conversation.
"What's keeping you awake?" Aiden asked, picking up the fact that he would have to be the one to start and possibly carry the conversation.
Jack let out a sigh before answering, "I don't know, I mean I just- I feel so bad for everyone in this house. I don't know any of them but they all know me and love me but they don't at the same time. I mean they love the old me, not now me. And I don't even know old me so I can't pretend to be him to make them happy because if I could I would. I hate seeing them so upset, I mean my little siblings won't even look at me anymore! I mean I know I don't really know them but it hurts, it hurts because I know I'll never be who they knew again and I hate that. I wish I could be back to normal however that was just to make them happy." He took a longer pause before his face flushed in embarrassment.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to rant to you like that. I mean you have it so much worse than me, I shouldn't be complaining to you when I actually know as much as I do about my life." He continued to ramble as Aiden looked up at him with a small, sorrowful smile.
"I don't mind the ranting, it's completely understandable. And I know I don't know as much about myself as you do yourself but I think that makes me have it easier out of the two of us, I mean you have all this stress about the people around you while I don't have any of that. My only concern is what my name is but I don't really mind not knowing because I like the name you gave me." Aiden said as he sat up so he could see Jack better.
"Really?" Jack asked as he too sat up, now able to see Aiden better as well.
"Really, now is there anything else you want to get off your chest while you're at it?" Aiden asked, his tone soft and gentle, trying his best to show Jack that it was okay to talk about what was bothering him and that he wouldn't judge him.
"Yeah just one more thing though, this bed is really uncomfortable. I mean it's too soft. That sounded really stupid didn't it?" Jack answered before asking with a short laugh.
"Not at all, I was just thinking the same thing about this mattress..." Aiden paused for a second before continuing, "Do you think sleeping on the floor would be weird?" He asked sounding like he was truly contemplating it.
"I don't think so, I was just thinking about trying it out myself," Jack answered truthfully with a shrug.
"Cool," Aiden said before rolling off the air mattress and falling onto the floor with a soft thud.
He then grabbed one of the pillows off the bed to put behind his head and finally, grabbed the top blanket off the mattress and draped it over himself.
"This is much more comfortable, care to join me down here?" He asked Jack as he looked up at the twin-sized bed Jack was lying on.
"Is there enough room for me too?" Jack asked as he grabbed one of his pillows and a blanket as well.
"Yeah, there's plenty of room for us both if I just move this over here," Aiden answered as he kicked the air mattress away with his foot and then moved over a bit so there was more room for Jack to lay down next to him.
"Okay, thanks," Jack said before getting off the bed and lying down next to Aiden on the cool floor.
"You're right, this is better." He said softly as he shut his eyes in contentment.
"Mhm." Aiden hummed as he too closed his eyes, both of them exhausted from the day.
They both soon fell asleep, both of them now too comfortable and tired to even say goodnight.

The next morning, the boys woke up to a soft knock on the bedroom door before it opened.
"Did you both fall off the beds? I mean if you wanted to cuddle the air mattress is big enough for you both." Amy chuckled as she saw the two boys wake up groggy.
Jack was lying on top of Aiden's chest, their legs were a tangled mess with each other and the covers, and their arms were securely wrapped around one another.
"Wha-?" Jack began, his brain not fully working right after he just woke up.
"We just found it the most comfortable here on the floor, I hope you don't mind," Aiden answered her as he took his arms off of Jack, making Jack realize what Amy was talking about.
His face flushed in embarrassment yet again as he sat up and away from Aiden.
"I don't care if you two cuddle or not, I came in here to tell you two to get dressed and ready because we all have to go to the police station in an hour. They're going to question us all about your disappearances and they are going to try to figure out who your parents are hun." She said, aiming the last bit at Aiden.
"Okay, we'll get dressed and ready then," Jack said as he stood up and began walking to his closet.
"Great, we'll go shopping after we get done at the station so you two can have some new clothes. Well if Aiden is able to stay with us of course, I don't want to keep you from your parents any longer than needed." She said with a small smile before leaving the room, shutting the door behind her.
"That's right... you won't be staying with us after today because you'll be going to your own family's house." Jack said, his demeanor changing from tired to upset.
"I think so unless my family lives super far away from here and will take a few days to show up. But I'm sure we can still stay together for a while on our own somehow. Let's not worry about it now. Let's just get dressed like we said we would." Aiden replied as he too stood up and walked over to the closet.
Jack nodded and they both got dressed quickly before heading downstairs together.
