Secret

"Wanna know a secret?" Josh asked with a smile.

"It depends on what it is," Tyler giggled softly.

"There were five different nights where I was going to propose to you," Josh said.

"What?"

"There were five different times I was going to ask you to marry me," Josh laughed.

"When?" Tyler asked.

"The first time was actually a whole two years before I really asked you," Josh admitted.

"What?!"

Josh nodded. "Yeah. We had only been dating like six months, but I knew you were the one. So I started looking at rings and everything, but then I told my mom, and she said i should wait. Because even though I was positive you loved me just as much, she said it was kind of quick. Soooo I waited."

Tyler nodded, playing with Josh fingers as he listened.

"And then we had our big blow-out fight about three months after that," Josh said. "I was actually going to propose the next day, but y'know... all... that happened."

Tyler nodded, kissing Josh's cheek softly.

"So we broke up for about three months," Josh said. "And that was horrifying. I really thought I had lost the love of my life for good. But then we got back together, and I was really eager to propose, but again, my mom said to wait."

"But after six months of being back together and better and stronger than ever, I figured it was FINALLY okay to propose," Josh grinned.

"So I spent all day one day stringing up lights in my back yard, building a new fire pit, buying roses and candles and chairs to make everything perfect. And then I got nervous. So I called you and said I was sick, so I couldn't go on our date that night. And you so sweetly came over and snuggled with me and made me soup as I faked being sick."

"You weren't really sick that night?!"

Josh laughed and shook his head. "Nope."

"Honey," Tyler cooed, kissing Josh's face.

Josh blushed, laughing softly. "Y-yeah. But then about a month later I finally had the courage. It was all set up and I was completely ready. Then you decided to surprise me with your annual summer vacation with your family."

Tyler giggled. "Oops."

"But it ended up working out because I just proposed there," Josh said. "I actually really liked it. On the beach, at night, accompanied by the sounds of waves. The only downside was that I was going to mention the time I scared you in the shower but your parents were there and that'd just be weird. Other than that, though, it was great. We spent the night in a hammock next to the water. That was really cool."

Tyler smiled softly, kissing Josh's cheek.

"And now here we are," Josh grinned. "On our honeymoon. A year and a half later."

Tyler giggled, hugging Joshua tightly. "I love you and how you proposed. It was really special."

Josh smiled, hugging and kissing him back. "I love you more. Thanks for saying yes."
