Pick-Up Day pt. 2
Josh sighed as he stood outside the bathroom, able to hear the water from the shower running.
He really wanted to go give his fiancé a hug, but he knew how insecure Tyler was of his body, and he didn't know if they had helped him worked on his confidence while at the mental hospital.
But he had just proposed, so he figured Tyler would be okay with it.
He opened the door, stripping his clothes off and opening the shower door.
Tyler hadn't heard him, though, so when he felt his arms wrapped around him, he jumped in surprise.
"Sorry," Josh said, quickly removing his arms and stepping back.
Tyler nodded, continuing to keep his back to Josh, now with his own arms wrapped around his own torso insecurely.
"I-I just... I just thought I'd welcome you home like this," Josh said. "K-kinda sexy or something like that. I-I dunno."
Tyler nodded.
"I'm really happy we're engaged," Josh said.
"Y-yeah."
So Josh just stood there, leaning against the wall while Tyler stood facing away from him under the water.
"C-could you maybe turn around?" Tyler asked quietly after he rinsed the conditioner out of his hair.
Josh did as asked, even covering his eyes with his hands to make Tyler more comfortable.
Tyler stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around himself before going to the bedroom and slipping on boxers, a t-shirt, and sweatpants.
Josh eventually came in. "Hey," he said.
"H-hi," Tyler replied.
"I-I just um... I wanna say I'm sorry for not coming to pick you up," Josh said. "I-I really thought that it was next Friday. I was going to put a big banner up that said welcome home, I was gonna make you fettuccini Alfredo, I was gonna propose to you with a big bouquet of roses and romantic music playing in the background. I promise I had a plan. I didn't forget about you. Not even for a second. I could never, ever forget about you. I just got the dates mixed up, a-and I know that's a terrible excuse and I'm still a terrible person to be in a relationship with, but I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry your homecoming wasn't as special as you and I both wanted it to be."
Tyler went up to Josh, hugging him softly. "You're not a terrible person to be in a relationship with. Y-you're the best guy in the whole world. My most favorite guy in the whole world, and I love you so much. Don't worry about not picking me up. I-I got to spend some extra time with my favorite nurses," he shrugged.
"Still," Josh said, wrapped his arms around him. "I should have been there and paid closer attention."
"It's okay," Tyler said, looking up into Josh's eyes. "I promise."
Josh kissed his lips softly. "You're the most amazing fiancé ever. I hope you know that."
"How can I be the most amazing fiancé ever when you're the most amazing fiancé ever?" Tyler asked with a shy giggle, blushing.
Josh grinned widely. "And the most adorable flirt."
Tyler blushed deeper, kissing Josh's nose. "I-I'm really happy we're engaged, Joshua. I-I spent every night there dreaming about our wedding."
"It's gonna be everything you want," Josh promised. "Anything in the world, I don't care what it is, we'll have it."
"It'd be cool to have a dolphin."
"Okay, well, I'm not sure where I'd legally get one of those," Josh said, chewing on his lip. "But we can get married on a beach, if that counts?"
"I'm kidding, Joshua," Tyler giggled. "All I care is that it's you and me getting to commit to each other forever."
Josh smiled, kissing Tyler's lips again. "I missed you so much, baby."
"I missed you more," Tyler replied, kissing him back. "Sorry if I'm... acting weird. I'm not used to being home yet and finally around you a-and so I'm nervous."
"You're not acting weird at all," Josh said. "And even if you were, I wouldn't care, because I'd be too distracted by your cuteness to realize you were acting weird."
Tyler giggled, nuzzling his nose into his fiancé's neck. "I love you."
"I love you more," Josh said, kissing the top of his head. "And I cannot wait to get back to normal life, loving on you 24/7."
