Kindess Pays Off

Tyler giggled as his daughter sat on his belly, grinning goofily, just as his husband did.

"Hi, RuRu," he grinned, playing with her hands.

"Hiiiiiiii," she hummed with a grin.

Josh rolled over onto his opposite side so he could see Tyler and Ruby, smiling as he saw them. "G'morning, cuties."

Tyler smiled, kissing Josh's lips. "G'morning."

Ruby then lifted her shirt up over her tubby belly, smacking it and giggling at the sound.

"RuRu," Tyler giggled. "Pull your shirt down."

"I chunky, daddy," Ruby hummed with a grin.

Josh snorted in laughter.

"You're chunky?" Tyler asked with a giggle, pulling Ruby's shirt down because she still hadn't.

"Mhm," Ruby nodded. "Chunky 'n proud." She smacked her belly again after lifting her shirt over it.

Josh couldn't stop laughing.

"RuRu," Tyler giggled. "Keep your shirt down."

"But I chunky."

"That doesn't mean ya can't keep your shirt down."

"Shirt too tight."

"Well, then, we can get ya another shirt."

The two year old grinned contently.

"Daaaaaaady," she hummed at Josh.

"Hm?" Josh said, wiping his eyes from laughing so hard.

"Come come," she said, taking his hand and tugging on it.

"Where're we going?"

"Get RuRu shirt."

Josh picked her up, starting to walk with her to her room when Ruby spoke up.

"Where ya goin'?"

"To go get you a shirt, I thought."

"RuRu too chunky for her shirts," Ruby said. "RuRu need one of daddy's."

Josh laughed. "Mine are gonna be way to big for you."

"It's okay," Ruby told him. "I chunky enough."

Josh laughed, allowing ruby to pick out any of his shirts she wanted to wear.

She picked a gray Blink-182 shirt, Josh helping her put it on.

It looked more like a long dress on her than a shirt, but she was happy with it.

So, for the rest of the day, Ruby waddled around the house in Josh's shirt.

At breakfast, Tyler made Ruby just one pancake because she typically was too full to eat anymore.

"Daddy," she said from her high chair.

"Hm?"

"May I have twoooooo panned cakes?"

"You typically just eat one, RuRu."

"But I chunky so I need two," Ruby explained.

"Ohhhh, Okay," Tyler giggled, making Ruby another pancake just to make her happy.

Josh sat at the table, cutting up Ruby's first pancake for her and feeding it to her.

"Are you hungry enough for another?" Tyler asked her.

She nodded with a grin, eating all of the second one he had made.

"Wowww," Josh said once she finished. "Good girl, RuRu."

Ruby grinned proudly, Josh kissing the dimples on her chubby cheeks.

The boys lets Ruby just kind of roam around the house for a while, doing as she pleased since it was all baby proofed.

After all, they had only been her parents for about a month. She was still getting familiar with the home.

But she loved Tyler and Josh more than anything, and ever since they first picked her up from the adoption center she was calling them daddies.

"What's this?" Ruby asked as she toddled into the living room with a box of condoms.

"W-where'd you find that??" Tyler asked.

"Daddy's drawer. There was another cool thing in there, too. It looked slimy. It started with an 'L....'"

Tyler just about died right then and there from embarrassment.

"Those are balloons," Josh said, taking the box of condoms.

"BALLOONS! I LOVE BALLOONS!"

"Yeah!" Josh said. "Yep. They're balloons."

"Can ya blow one up?"

"Oh my god," Tyler said quietly.

"Er.... um.... yeah," Josh said. "But they're really special balloons. We ooooonly can use them on TyTy's birthday."

Tyler smacked Josh's arm, Josh grinning a little.

"And it not TyTy's birthday yet," Ruby said. "So do not blow it up, daddy. We must save it."

Josh nodded. "That's right, RuRu. Very good."

The baby smiled, getting up onto the couch with her daddies and sitting between them, holding Tyler's left hand and Josh's right.

"Daddies."

"Yes?"

"I love ya."

"Awwww," Tyler smiled, kissing the top of her head. "We love you too."

That night, the Dun family went out to eat. They headed to a cute restaurant downtown, the boys receiving several compliments on how well behaved Ruby was.

She was the best kid ever. She never pitched fits, made scenes, or anything like that. She'd only cry if Josh or Tyler forgot to say hi to her when they got home from work or one of them forgot to kiss her goodnight.

She simply sat in Tyler's lap the whole time, observing people quietly.

"I like her dress," Ruby said. "Can I go tell her I like her dress?"

Tyler nodded, setting Ruby down on the ground and allowing her to toddle over to the woman, keeping a close eye on her.

She tapped her leg with a grin.

"Hello I am Ruby and I enjoy your dress. It is very pretty and the colors are very nice," she grinned.

The woman's heart melted. "Awwwww, you're so sweet! That made my night. Thank you so much."

Ruby smiled and waddled back to Tyler and Josh, getting into Tyler's lap.

"Good job, RuRu," he smiled. "That was very, very nice of you."

A while later, after they had finished eating, their waitress came up and set a brownie with ice cream on the table.

Tyler opened his mouth to say he didn't order it when the waitress smiled.

"The woman in the floral dress over there ordered it for you," she smiled. "And your meal is paid for, as well."

"Oh, wow," Tyler said.

"See, daddies? It pays to be chunky."

Josh tried to hold back laughter. "It pays to be kind, Ruby. See what happened? You got rewarded for being nice. So it's always good to be kind."

Ruby nodded.

They all three shared the dessert, thanking the woman on their way out.

"Thank you so much," Tyler said. "You really, really did not have to do that."

"I appreciate you raising such a kind and sweet daughter," she smiled. "You guys take care."

"Thank you," Josh replied. "You too."

They headed home, Tyler and Josh so proud of how kind-hearted their daughter was.

"Daddies," Ruby yawned sleepily. "Can I sleep in your room, tonight? Y'know, since I chunky."

Tyler and Josh laughed, not knowing what 'being chunky' had to do with not being able to sleep in her room, but they didn't care.

"Sure," Tyler said.

So all three of them snuggled up in Tyler and Josh's bed, Ruby on top of Josh's belly. "G'night, daddies. I love ya."

"Good night, sweetheart," Josh said.

"Sleep well, honey," Tyler said. "We love you."

"G'night, Mr. Dun," Josh grinned, kissing Tyler's lips.

"Good night, Joshua," Tyler giggled, kissing him back.

And with that, they were all asleep.
