Couple's Therapy

The boys got out of Josh's car, not holding hands as they walked in.

But Josh noticed Tyler was shivering, though, so he took off his jacket and wrapped it around him.

"Thanks," Tyler said quietly.

Josh nodded, continuing to walk in with him.

They entered the building, Tyler checking them in with the receptionist.

"They have a coffee maker over there," Josh said quietly. "Do you want me to make you some?"

"Sure," Tyler nodded. "Thank you."

Josh nodded, turning to make the coffee before stopping. He turned back around and kissed Tyler's cheek.

He then went and made the coffee for both of them, handing a cup to Tyler. They sat in the chairs in the waiting room next to each other, not saying anything for a minute.

A few minutes later, Tyler shyly reached over and slipped his hand into Josh's.

Josh quickly wrapped his hand around Tyler's tightly.

Tyler rested his head on Josh's shoulder, his eyes closing softly as Josh gently rubbed circles into the back of his hand with his thumb.

"I know you don't want to be here," Tyler said softly. "So thank you for coming."

"I mean, I think we're doing better," Josh replied. "A lot better than when we first started. A-and so if it's helping us get better and makes you happy, I'm here."

The boys had been going through a bit of a rough patch in their relationship, and Tyler suggested they go to couple's therapy. Josh really hated the idea at first, and to be honest, even after their first session he thought it was stupid.

But the 'exercises' the therapist had them do had been helping. He couldn't deny that.

So he decided to start being a better sport about it and start participating with intent.

Tyler looked up at Josh, smiling softly. "Thank you."

Josh smiled back at him, squeezing his hand. "Anything for you."

They finished their session, walking back out to Josh's car.

Halfway there, Josh took Tyler's hand, making the shorter boy blush.

They stopped walking, kissing in the parking lot for a moment before continuing on.

"We should go on a date tonight," Josh suggested.

Tyler smiled widely. Josh hadn't taken him on a date in months. "O-ok."

"We should go get hot chocolate and look at Christmas lights," Josh said.

"That's what we did our first date," Tyler said with a smile.

Josh grinned and nodded. "In our pj's, too."

"W-we should do it in our pj's tonight," Tyler said, unable to keep from giggling.

"Should we, now?" Josh grinned, wrapping his arms around his giggling husband.

"Y-yeah," Tyler giggled. "T-that'd be funny."

Josh was so happy to see his husband smiling and giggling. It was the sweetest thing ever.

"Hey, cutie," he grinned as he looked down at his husband, still hugging him tightly. He waited for Tyler to look up at him. "I love you."

"I love you too," Tyler smiled, kissing his lips. "Handsome."

That night, the boys put on their matching couple pajama pants Tyler's mom got them every year.

"Hold on," Josh grinned. "We gotta get a picture of this."

He took a photo of them together in the mirror, Tyler kissing his cheek as he grinned goofily.

Josh sent it to Tyler's mom, thanking her for the pj's.

They then hopped in his Jeep, driving to Starbucks and getting two big hot chocolates.

"What neighborhood do you wanna start in?" Josh asked.

"Whichever's the coolest," Tyler smiled.

Josh grinned, nodding his head. "Sounds good, baby."

He held Tyler's left hand with his right as he used his left to drive.

"Oh, wow," Tyler said as Josh slowly drove through the neighborhood, looking at all the lights. "They're so pretty..."

"Not half as pretty as you," Josh smiled. "Or festive."

Tyler was wearing a Santa hat. He loved Christmas.

Josh never wore a Santa hat, though. He thought it was embarrassing.

Which is why it was such a surprise when Josh reached into the backseat and grabbed a Santa hat, putting it on his own head.

"Joshie!" Tyler exclaimed with a wide grin. "You look so festive!"

Josh grinned, leaning over and kissing Tyler's lips.

Tyler smiled and kissed him back, his eyes widening as he noticed the car starting to drift.

"Joshua!" He exclaimed, quickly jerking the wheel to avoid taking out a mailbox.

Josh slammed on the brakes, looking at Tyler.

They both started cracking up laughing.

"Maybe we should head home if we're gonna kiss," Tyler giggled.

"Yeahhh," Josh replied.

So they headed home, crawling into bed and actually snuggling for the first time in months.

Tyler kissed Josh softly, Josh kissing him back happily.

The boys were just so much... happier now. And they finally remembered how important love was.

"I think couple's therapy is one of the best decisions we've ever made," Josh told Tyler sincerely. "Thanks for making me go."

"Thanks for being such a good sport about it," Tyler smiled. "I love you."

"I love you more."
