Chapter 5

Okay. Here I am! Back with another chapter of our story. Let's go then, shall we?

Song: "Stitches" by Shawn Mendes

Annabeth:

I made friends with Thalia and Reyna. Nico didn't talk much but sometimes caught me staring at Peter. No... Percy! Yes, that's his name. Nico looked at me like he knew what I was thinking. As if he knew something about me.

Thalia was friendly. She had stormy blue eyes, black spiky hair, and freckles. We talked about a lot of things. Reyna was mostly silent but she talked when she had to. And when she did it was with power. I admired that.

And what to say about Percy? He was annoying. I knew immediately we wouldn't be best of friends. I looked at him because he looked as if he was hiding something. Something sad. I tried to make out what it was by looking at his face but I couldn't.

I shook my head. It's none of my business. But then why did I feel so sad that he was so sad? I shook my head again. NYC is big. I won't meet him again.

Thalia and I exchanged numbers before she went.

"Call me!" She said and walked out of the airport.

I looked around my surroundings. Suddenly I found my name scrawled on a piece of white cardboard. 'Annabeth Chase' it said. Well, that's me.

"Hey." I greeted the man holding the piece of cardboard. He simply nodded and showed me the way out of the airport. I was disappointed. My mother didn't come.

What did I expect?

I sighed and followed him. He stopped in front of a car. Or more like a limo. It was shiny black. I liked it.

He opened the door for me though I was perfectly able to. I sighed and sat down inside.

That's when I noticed a woman sitting on the opposite seat of me. She was dressed in business attire and she was looking at me like how a mother looks at her child. That's when I realized it was my mother.

She had my gray eyes and brown hair that cascaded down to her waist. She looked older than the last time I saw her. Well, obviously.

"Annabeth, look how you've grown!" She gasped.

I wanted to say, 'Yes. Of course, I would've grown in the past 10 years I spent. Without you.'

But nothing came out of my mouth. I was too overwhelmed.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come to the airport. I'm very... famous around here. Reporters and all that." She said cautiously. Famous, huh?

"It's alright... mom," I said, tasting the word. The word sounded different in my mouth. As if it was something ancient.

My mother, Athena's, face glowed up as soon as she heard the word. I had a lot of questions but one question was resounding in my head more than the others: Why did you leave?

"Let's go, Holder." My mother said nodding at the man who escorted me from the airport.

The man nodded and the limo started.

"How have you been?" I asked. I didn't know anything other to ask.

"I've been well. I opened an architecture firm under Olympus Inc. and fared well." She said and I nodded. I heard of Olympus Inc. a little here and a little there.

It's supposed to be the most powerful company in all of America and a few other countries around the world. It owned pretty much everything. And with power comes problems and enemies.

"How are you, Annabeth?" She asked.

"Okay," I said and then tuned out, putting in my earphones and played music.

I thought that I've been hurt before

But no one's ever left me...

I drifted off to sleep.

Unknown:

"Is everything done? Everything planned out?" The man asked.

"Yes. Kronos, sir." A small voice replied.

"Good." The man nodded.

The boy nodded back and turned around and left the man's study. Kronos, the man's name was.

'As soon as we kill Athena and her filthy children. No more brainiacs in the way.' The man thought evilly.

All this mapping and planning took too much time, in Kronos' perspective. He knew where they lived and all that but he needed the right time. The right time to do it.

Of course, you couldn't murder someone just by jumping at them in the middle of the street in front of a million witnesses. Especially, if the victim is famous and has tight security. Plans should be made. Decisions should be taken. All too much for a man for his age. Shouldn't he be happy and retired in an old age home? No, he sought revenge.

And sometimes people blinded with anger and revenge can end themselves indirectly.

But let us leave him to his temporary happiness, for now.

Annabeth:

I woke up to the sound of doors closing and opening. For a while, I forgot where I was and then everything flooded back to me.

My mother was already outside talking to Holder.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I opened the door and walked out and looked at the house in front of me. It was very big. There were beautiful flower vines climbing down from the roof. The windows were stainless. The architecture was so amazing I had to admire it. The house was very modern.

Mom, it sounded weird in my thoughts as well, walked towards the front door beckoning me to her. I followed. She rang the doorbell.

So there must be someone here. The door opened revealing a teenage boy a little older than me.

He looked so much like mom I had to stop.

"Oh, hey mom. You're early. Who's this?" He said nodding towards me.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo
