Chapter 2
A/N: GO AND LOOK IN THE FIRST CHAPTER.
This song was on repeat as I wrote this chapter...
Changes have been made****
Song: "Wolves" by Selena Gomez
I woke the next morning and all the excitement went away from me as soon as I realized that I would be leaving Chris, Clarisse, Matthew, Bobby, and Luke. He didn't know yet.
As soon as I got up and had a shower, I texted him.
Me: Hey, you still up for ice cream today?
Luke: Yep.
Me: k.
I sighed. I did the homework I had to do and completed a project and went downstairs. I walked out of the house and as usual, no one questioned me. They didn't even care if I was there or not. There was a note taped on the fridge door.
We went to the park.
Helen.
And that was it. I rolled my eyes and made my way to the ice cream place. I walked in and the bell ringed.
I looked around the little parlour and found Luke sitting in the booth at the back.
"Hi," I said waving slightly.
"Hey." He said and smiled looking up from his phone.
"I have something to tell you," I said.
"Yeah?" He replied.
I took a deep breath. "I'm moving... to New York.." I said.
"WHAT?" He exclaimed.
"Yeah."
We talked for a while and I went back home. I remembered the little scene that happened just before we parted. I smiled to myself.
Flashback:
"So you're moving?" He asked.
"Yes." I nodded again. My head was starting to hurt. He had been asking me that question a lot.
"Well, is this goodbye?" He said a little sadly.
"No! I won't leave for a few weeks! We can have fun." I said.
"Okay," Luke said and nodded.
"Bye... It isn't goodbye!" I said and smiled. Then he did something that surprised me more than anything, he kissed me! But it didn't feel like what I dreamt it would feel like. There weren't any butterflies in my stomach, there weren't any colours flying around and I had a feeling it wasn't right.
But I ignored the feeling and kissed him back. I smiled against the kiss. I was surprised when I was the one to break the kiss. I wasn't sure what this meant for us. Were we friends or were we, boyfriend and girlfriend. This is confusing.
Flashback ends. (A/N: You guys must hate me right now. Oh, well. Sorry not sorry.)
I walked into the house and I realized Helen must be home. I walked as quietly as I could upstairs but I heard her voice.
"ANNABETH!" Helen yelled. I rolled my eyes before taking a turn and walked downstairs.
"What?" I asked.
"Where were you?" She asked.
"Uh, none of your business," I replied. I really didn't have the mood or the time for this.
"Watch your mouth! I am your mother and I have the right to know!" She yelled and I flinched slightly.
"First of all, you are not my mother," I said crossing my arms.
"You're grounded till you move to New York!" She said.
"Fine," I said surprised at how easily she let go of me. She usually fights about it all day and then complains to my dad getting me in more trouble.
I am looking so forward to move. I thought.
~~~~~~~~~
Five days! Just five days at this hellhole and I'd be off to New York. My room was filled with empty boxes here and there, only a few clothes were lying around. I finished packing all my books in the boxes. The principal gave me permission to leave school four days early because I'd have to pack and get ready to move.
I was listening to music, as usual, from my earphones.
I've been running through the jungle
I've been running with the wolves
To get to you, to get to you
I've been down the darkest alleys
Saw the dark side of the moon
To get to you, to get to you
I plucked my earphones out of my ears and turned off the music from my phone, as I reached my locker.
I dragged the cardboard box to my locker. I emptied the locker's contents in it and managed to somehow put the box in the locker.
"Going somewhere?" I heard a husky voice. I shook my head as I turned to him. Octavian.
"Nowhere," I answered deadpan.
"C'mon babe. You can tell me." He said as he put his hands on my waist. I struggled.
"DO. NOT. CALL. ME. BABE!" I yelled at him. He retracted his hands in surprise. I was a little surprised by my outburst too.
"What?" He growled.
"You know what I've had enough of you! I'm going away so κάνε ό, τι στο διάολο θέλεις! γιος μιας σκύλας! I don't care!" I yelled at him. Greek. It's been a while since I spoke it and I was so glad when I saw his face.
"What did you say?" He said and immediately put his arms on my hips and pulled me closer aggressively.
"Is there something going on here Mr Octavian?" I heard a teacher's voice. I have never been more glad to hear her voice. Ms Hestia. He looked at her and then back at me and growled, "We're not done! I'll meet you at lunch." He said and released me. He glared at Ms Hestia and walked off.
"Don't you all have classes?" She asked calmly but firmly. The crowd around us scattered.
"Annabeth honey? Are you okay?" She asked as she walked towards me. Suddenly tears spilt down my cheeks. I hugged her and cried into her shirt. She led me towards her office and handed me a box of tissues.
"Cry it out." She said and sat in the chair beside me.
"Thank you, Aunt Hestia." Yes. She was my aunt from my mother's side. Nobody knew. She was the one who told me. She isn't in contact with anyone and she respected me enough not to tell anyone about this. She was the only reason I made it through most of high school. She was in her late 20s.
"It's okay dear. You do have some fluent greek there." She said chuckling.
"You know greek?" I asked, suddenly frightened of the swear words I used.
"Yes. Let's just say he deserved it." She said noticing my expression. I laughed with her. Soon my sobs became tiny sniffles.
"Why don't you stay with me at lunch? I'll drop you home too." She said. I nodded.
Whatever Luke had in store for me I was not willing to find out.
"Now, I see you packing. Are you leaving?" She asked.
"Oh. Yes. I'm going to mom." I replied. She looked at me stunned and nodded.
"New York, I believe?" She asked. I nodded again.
"Well, good for you. Your mother is a very wonderful lady. I believe she is a very famous architect." Aunt Hestia said. The bell rang.
"Why don't you go to class? Hmm? I'll see you at lunch."
"Thank you, Aunt," I said as I walked out of the door. She smiled a warm smile and nodded and turned to do her work.
The rest of the classes passed with an occasional glare from Luke and a sympathetic glance from either Clarisse or Chris. I haven't talked to them yet. I was walking towards Aunt Hestia's office when I heard her voice.
"Hey," Clarisse said.
"Hi," I said.
"You're moving?" Chris appeared from nowhere.
"Yes. New York." I said looking at him.
"Oh," Clarisse said awkward silence followed.
"Listen-"
"I'm-"
"We-"
We spoke on top of each other. They laughed and I joined in. These were my friends since kindergarten. As soon as the laughter died down, I spoke before the others.
"I'm sorry. I'll miss you guys." I said finally.
"We will too. Stay safe out there." Chris said in a big brother tone.
"I will." I smiled. We did a little group hug.
"We'll visit you at the airport," Clarisse said as she pulled Chris to the cafeteria.
"Yeah," I said. I turned and knocked on Aunt Hestia's door.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOooOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
A/N Okay. Hello again. I'm sorry about all the sad chapters. But I thought you needed insight into how they both are feeling before they meet each other.
Bear with the sadness for a few more chapters and then it'll all be rainbows and sunshine and glitter and blue cookies. (not)
Just bear with me.
And I won't update until the week after the next cuz of tests...
