Visting Ruby

"Hey, Ruby!" Tyler smiled as he entered the play area where Ruby was.

"HELLOOOOOOOO, TYTY," she hummed with a wide grin as she sat on the floor holding a ball that she had taken great interest in.

"Are you excited to play today?"

"Mmmmmmhm."

"Me too," Tyler said, sitting down on the floor next to her.

Ruby got up and ran as quick as her tubby little legs could take her towards Ty, tackling him in a hug.

Tyler laughed and hugged the toddler back.

"Where Jish?"

"He's coming in in a second," Tyler said. "He was on a phone call for work in the car, and I was just too excited to see you to wait for him."

"I got dis," she said, picking up the ball and showing it to Tyler.

"Ooooh," Tyler said as he looked at the small toy. "Looks pretty cool."

"Mhm."

"Hey, Ruby!" Josh grinned as he entered the play area.

"JISH!" Ruby yelled, getting up with a bit of a struggle before standing and staring at him because her tubby toddler legs were tired. "HELLOOOOOO, JISH!"

Josh chuckled and picked the girl up, spinning around with her. "I missed you! Are you ready for our play day?"

Ruby quickly nodded.

Tyler and Josh had been married for two years now, and while they wanted to have a family, they weren't ready to have kids just yet. However, they found the adoption center nearest them and started volunteering to spend some time with one of the toddlers there.

Just giving Ruby special, one on one attention for just a couple hours one day a week made her feel so important. They loved Ruby just as she was their own, but they were worried they wouldn't be good enough parents for how amazing of a girl she was.

"Jish," She said. "I got dis."

She showed him the ball she got, very proud of it.

"Wowwwwww," Josh said as he looked at the ball she was holding right in front of his face. "Did you show TyTy?"

"Mhm."

"Did he think it was cool?"

"Mhm."

"What all has happened since we've been here last?" Josh asked.

"I'm eatin' lots," Ruby said. "I get twoooooo snacks now."

"What snacks do you eat?" Tyler asked.

"Goldfishes."

"Oooh, Josh looooves goldfish," Tyler smiled. "Are you happy you get two snacks now?"

Ruby quickly nodded. "Mmmmmm."

The boys giggled, hugging her tightly.

They spent the day playing with Ruby, but she really just wanted to snuggle with them, so they just sat on the couch and watched a movie on the TV at the adoption center.

Eventually, though, it was time for them to go. Ruby got quite sad, but the boys promised her they'd be back next Thursday, just as they were every week.

And eventually, one special Thursday, the boys got to finally call Ruby theirs, and she finally got to call them her daddies.
