Show & Tell
"Daddy," Ruby said, making her way into Josh and Tyler's bed, plopping down on Josh's stomach.
Josh grinned at the sudden pressure. "Yes?"
"I want you to be my show and tell."
Josh smiled softly. "Awwwww, RuRu. That's so sweet. But are you sure you don't want it to be something else? You could show them some of your stuffed animals or the seashells you got in Florida..."
"No," Ruby hummed, shaking her head. "I want you to be it."
Josh nodded. "I will gladly be your show and tell, Ruby."

A few days later, Josh entered Ruby's kindergarten classroom, his husband, Tyler, following him in.
Tyler stood in the back and took pictures. He couldn't get over how sweet it was that Ruby chose him as her show and tell.
Josh sat down in a chair in front of all the kids who were on the carpet, Ruby plopping down on his lap.
"This is my show and tell," Ruby said. "This is daddy. His real name is Jishwa but because we're like best frens I get to call him daddy."
Tyler was giggling in the back, Josh trying not to laugh.
They had been trying to teach Ruby how to pronounce Joshua for the longest time, but she just couldn't. It was always Jishwa.
"Daddy is my daddy so that's cool. He gives really good snuggles and takes me to get ice cream a lot. Sometimes he makes good food," she said, turning and putting her tiny hands over his ears. "My other daddy, TyTy, makes food better, though, but it's okay because daddy doesn't know."
Josh laughed. Apparently his cooking wasn't as good as he thought it was.
She took her hands off his ears, holding Josh's hand. "Daddy's got big hands. They're kinda scary big but it's ok because he's not scary. He's got cool blue hair and that's really cool because blue is really cool. He also's got this drawing of a tree on his arm," Ruby said, pointing to Josh's right arm. "He drew it with sharpie because it never comes off. Even in the shower."
Josh laughed again. He'd have to remember to explain tattoos to Ruby.
"Daddy reeeeeeeeeeeally likes daddy," Ruby said. "That's my other daddy," she said, pointing to Tyler.
Tyler waved to everyone.
"Like... he really, really likes my other daddy. A whole lot. They kiss a whole lot. They say they kissed even more before I was here, but since I'm here now, I make them save some kisses for me. My daddies love me a lot and I love my daddies a lot. I really like my family."
Josh smiled and hugged Ruby tightly.
"Daddy," She said to him. "Please talk about yourself to the class while I go get a snack."
She slid off his lap and made her way to her backpack, sitting on the ground as she went through it to try to find where she had put the bag of goldfish TyTy had given her that morning.
"Okay, well," Josh said, smiling. "I'm Josh, Ruby's dad. I'm a firefighter. I-"
"THAT'S WHY HE'S GOT BIG MUSCLES," Ruby shouted to her classmates from the other side of the room while still looking for her goldfish.
Tyler giggled and went over there to help her.
Josh chuckled and continued. "I don't really know what else to tell you guys."
By that time, Ruby had returned, pushing herself onto Josh's lap while she ate her goldfish. "I will now accept questions regarding daddy."
One girl raised her hand. "Why is your hair blue?"
"It's naturally brown," Josh said. "But I put special paint in it to make it blue."
"Ohhhh," the class said.
A boy raised his hand this time. "Where did you get a green sharpie?" He asked.
Josh was confused at first, but then realized he was talking about the green on his tattoo.
"Um... you've just gotta look really hard for them," he chuckled.
Eight questions later, it was the end of school.
Josh picked Ruby up, Tyler carrying her backpack for her.
"Thank you for being my show and tell, daddy," she said. "You were the coolest one ever."
Josh smiled, kissing her temple. "It was awesome, RuRu. Thanks for choosing me."
