Real Clothes
"Ok, RuRu," Tyler said as he lied his daughter down on his bed to change her. "We're gonna try wearing an actual outfit out today instead of just pajamas."
Ruby was now a year old and had never been a fan of real clothes. She only ever wore pajamas out.
Whenever Tyler or Josh would put her in actual clothes when they were trying to take her somewhere, she wouldn't cry or scream or anything. She'd just get a very grumpy and sad look on her face.
Ruby's favorite pajamas was a onesie that made her look like a purple giraffe when the hood was pulled up. She wore them at least three times a week
But now, Josh and Tyler were going to try to go to church for the first time since adopting Ruby, and they didn't want to show up dressed nice but their kid be in a giraffe outfit.
So Tyler put her in a peach colored one piece with ruffles that would hopefully distract her enough. He added a matching headband as well as Ruby's first pair of sandals, and picked her up.
"I think ya look pretty beautiful, RuRu," he said.
Ruby was... confused, to say the least.
This outfit wasn't PJ's and she had something on her head and weird things on her feet. Her toes were getting cold from not having her sockies on. But she liked it.
Josh walked into the bedroom, smiling as he saw his daughter. "Awwwwww! Ruby! You look sooooooo beautiful!"
Ruby just snuggled into Tyler more as he held her. She was also confused as to why she daddies were dressed up.
"Are we ready?" Tyler asked.
"I think so," Josh said.
So the three headed to church, and it went really well.
Until they went out to lunch and Ruby got Mac n cheese all over her new outfit.
Tyler sighed, Josh doing the same. No men's bathroom ever had a changing table in it, so they had nowhere to change their daughter. So they paid for their meal and went to the car, heading home.
"Well it was cute while it lasted," Tyler said, "let's get you changed, sweetheart."
Tyler took Ruby to her room, changing her into her giraffe onesie. "I'm proud of you for wearing real clothes, RuRu. You're getting to be such a big girl."
"Ah," Ruby grunted.
She was in her giraffe onesie, so now she was happy.
So she and her daddies snuggled on the couch, watching a movie together.
"I love you, RuRu," Tyler said.
The baby giggled, happy to be a purple giraffe now.
Josh and Tyler smiled and kissed all over her face. Their baby girl was so sweet and precious.
And soon enough, she was wearing real clothes and not spilling Mac n cheese on them.
