Prom
Tyler giggled as his boyfriend rested his forehead against his own, leaning forward and kissing his lips softly.
Josh grinned and kissed him back, wanting to deepen it but knowing he couldn't because they were at a school dance.
They danced and sang and had the time of their lives, and even though so many people were there, they felt like it was just them.
Eventually, the last song of the night played.
Everyone slow danced together, Tyler and Josh swaying back and forth, Ty's arms resting on his boyfriend's shoulders and Josh's around Tyler's waist.
Tyler let out a sigh.
"Why're you sad, baby?" Josh asked.
"'Cause this is our last prom," Tyler replied.
"Who said it's our last prom?"
"You're graduating this year and there's no way I'm going without you next year."
"Well maybe I've purposely been failing every single class all year so I have to retake senior year just so I can take you to prom," Josh said.
Tyler smiled softly and shook his head. "You better not have done that."
"I didn't, I didn't," Josh assured him with the goofy grin Tyler loved so, so much. "But it's a pretty genius idea."
"It really is," Tyler giggled.
Josh laughed as well, his tongue sticking between his teeth as he giggled.
Tyler smiled up at him, getting on his toes and kissing his lips. "I love you, Joshua."
"I love you too," Josh smiled. "I remember the first time I told you that."
"And I didn't say it back because I thought you were pranking me and one of your friends was gonna jump out of the bushes with a camera," Tyler giggled.
"Yeah," Josh chuckled. "But you came around eventually."
"And everybody thought I was so cool for dating an older boy," Tyler said. "Only to learn he's really about 4."
"If anything I'm dating the older boy," Josh said. "You eat dinner at like 5:30 every night and have oatmeal for breakfast every morning. You old man."
Tyler giggled and shook his head, rolling his eyes. "But I still stay up late talking to you. And I bring you donuts every Friday morning. See? I'm willing to sacrifice even some of my most favorite things for you."
"I know, baby. I know. You're the best boyfriend ever," Josh grinned, kissing Tyler's lips again. "But I still think you should start eating the oatmeal that has the dino eggs in it. That's like... so cool."
"If you wanna come over one day and bring that dinosaur oatmeal, I will gladly try it with you."
"Imma do it," Josh grinned. "Once you graduate and come room with me, all our cabinets are gonna be full over dino oatmeal."
"What did I say earlier? You're four years old," Tyler giggled, pulling him down and kissing him. "But you're my favorite. My favorite person ever. Don't you ever change, Joshua."
"Speaking of changing," Josh said. "After this, are we going back to my house or yours? Cause I really dont wanna wear pants for a while. These are way too uncomfortable."
"Then I guess we should go to your house," Tyler giggled.
Josh grinned and nodded.
The song ended, Tyler sighing as he rested his forehead against Josh's chest.
"What's wrong, baby?" Josh asked.
"We spent our last dance at prom talking about oatmeal that hatches dinosaur eggs when you put water in it."
"Oh," Josh said, pausing for a second. "Well. That saves more romantic talk for us when we're alone!"
"That's true," Tyler smiled. "Let's go back to your house, Joshie."
So the boys headed back to Josh's house, Josh parking his Jeep in the garage. Typically he parked it out on the street since his parents' cars took up the garage.
"Where're your parents, Joshie?" Tyler asked as he walked hand in hand through the garage to the door.
"I dunno," Josh said.
Once they got in, Josh saw a note, picking it up and reading it aloud.
"Josh,
Dad and I have decided to take a sudden trip to London. I know you would've liked to come and bring Tyler, but there were only enough tickets for two.
So we left you the money we would've spent for you and Ty to do something special.
Have lots of fun and tell Tyler we love him!
Xoxo,
Mom
Ps, if you have your first time, be gentle and use protection!"
Tyler and Josh both blushed deeply. They'd never had sex before, not even with each other.
But then they saw the money Momma Dun had left.
"T-two t-thousand dollars?!" Tyler exclaimed in complete shock.
"H-holy crap! W-what do we do with it?!"
"W-we need to save some, give some, spend some," Tyler said. "That's what my mom has always told me. Save 15%, give 15% to charity, and spend the rest."
"W-what do we spend it on??"
"I-I don't know."
"Dino oatmeal," Josh said with a grin.
Tyler giggled and shook his head, kissing his boyfriend's forehead. "We should save the majority of it, don't you think?"
"So we can buy like a bunch of Dino oatmeal on bulk some day," Josh said. "I like that idea. You're a genius, Tyler."
Josh had the ability to make Tyler laugh no matter what. And tonight was no exception.
"Buttttttttt, but but but," Josh hummed with a grin. "It appears you and I have the whole house to ourselves for the next two weeks."
"What're we gonna do?" Tyler asked with a shy smile.
"Make out without worrying my parents are gonna come in! In my room! On my bed!"
Tyler giggled and nodded, allowing Josh to pull him in for a deep kiss, making his way to his room with Tyler, refusing to pull his lips away.
He closed the door behind him before he lied down on the bed with Tyler, on top of him.
Over time, their clothes just started to come off.
"Do you wanna do it?" Josh asked softly, his forehead pressed against Tyler's as he found his hands, intertwining their fingers.
Tyler nodded, and with that, the rest of the clothes came off.
"Y-you're gorgeous, baby," Josh said as he pressed kisses down Tyler's bare body.
Tyler let out a soft whimper, Josh coming back up and kissing his lips. "What's wrong, beautiful?"
"I'm cold, Joshie," Tyler said softly.
Josh nodded, grabbing the fluffy blanket from behind him and wrapping Tyler in it. He also fluffed the pillow behind his boyfriend's neck. "Comfy?" He asked.
Tyler smiled and nodded. "I love you."
"I love you more," Josh answered.
***
"W-wow," Josh panted as he lied back in bed with his boyfriend, the sheets just barely covering his naked lower half. "T-that was... I-I um...."
"I love you," Tyler smiled, turning on his side and softly kissing Josh's cheek.
"I love you too," Josh said, smiling as well.
Both boys were still out of breath.
"Did you like it?" Josh asked hopefully. He really, really hoped he made his boyfriend's first time so special.
"I loved it," Tyler answered. "I love you, Joshua."
Josh smiled relievedly, squeezing Tyler's hand.
It was perfect. The boys didn't want to do it again tonight. Not even the next day. They just wanted to wait a while so they could process it all.
But as soon as they processed it, it seemed like they never stopped.
***
Tyler lied in the bed in the dorm room next to his boyfriend crying.
"Sh sh shhh, baby," Josh said softly, running his fingers through Tyler's hair. "It's okay. You're okay."
"I-I dont want you to leave me, Joshie," Tyler cried.
"I know, baby. I don't wanna leave you either. I promise you that. But we'll be able to talk all the time on FaceTime and Skype and all that stuff."
"It's not the same, Joshie."
Josh sighed and nodded, kissing Ty's forehead. "I know. But it's the best we can do while I'm gone."
Tyler just continued to cry in Josh's arms.
Why did Josh have to be a year older than him?
***
"Are you excited for prom, Ty?" Dallon asked with a smile as he sat down next to him at lunch.
"I'm not going," Tyler mumbled as he ate his food.
"What?!" Troye exclaimed.
"Dude!" Brendon yelled.
"You gotta go!" They all said.
"Josh isn't here," Tyler said sadly. "And there's no way I'm going without him."
"C'mon, Ty," James said. "It's the most romantic night of the year. And it's tons of fun. Just go with us. None of us have dates either."
"But that's because you aren't dating anybody," Tyler said. "It's different cause I'm dating Josh. He won't be there."
"You've gotta go," Troye said.
"Please?" Dallon asked.
"Come on, man," Brendon said. "You have to."
But Tyler refused.

One month later, Tyler was walking into prom.
His friends had finally convinced him.
He had a sad frown on his face until he saw someone stand up, holding a rose in his hands, and walk towards him.
"J-Josh?"
"Hey, baby," he grinned.
"J-Josh!" Tyler exclaimed with the widest of smiles, hugging his boyfriend so incredibly tight. "H-how did you... w-when did you?"
"Well, I didn't want you missing out on senior prom," Josh said. "And I didn't want our last prom dance to be remembered by the dino oatmeal conversation. So I texted all your friends and begged them to convince you to come."
"How long are you here for?"
"A couple days," Josh grinned. "And in a couple months, you graduate and come to college and we get to go back to how we use to be."
Tyler giggled shyly and blushed, playfully smacking Josh's chest. "Let's dance, Joshua."
