Cashier

"Hi," the cute boy with blue hair behind the counter smiled. "Find everything ok?"

"Yes, thank you," Tyler said, pulling out his wallet to get his credit card.

"How's your day been going?"  The boy asked. His name tag read 'josh'.

"It's been good so far," Tyler replied. "What about you?"

"Just working," the boy grinned goofily. He was pretty cute, Tyler had to admit.

But the tattoos and the gauges and the dyed hair just weren't really... attractive to Tyler. It just wasn't his type.

Josh finished scanning all the items and placing them into bags. "Can I have your phone number?" He asked.

"Oh, um,,, Sorry," Tyler said. "I'm not interested."

"I-I meant for the rewards program we have..."

"O-oh," Tyler said, his face red in embarrassment. "Oh my God."

"It's ok," the boy said. "The tattoos and stuff aren't for everybody. But I'm nice. At least, I think I'm nice. I don't know. You said you weren't interested. I get that a lot. Don't feel bad, I'm immune to it by now."

"I-I uh..."

"Maybe you'd rather just sign up another day?" Josh asked.

"U-uh... yeah."

The boy nodded, pressing some things on the register before speaking up. "Your total is 74.96."

Tyler swiped his credit card and put his wallet back before putting the bags of groceries in his cart. He felt really bad now. It seemed like he made Josh kinda sad by saying he wasn't interested even when he wasn't asking for his number for that reason.

He handed Tyler a receipt to sign, and below it Tyler wrote his number.

"Here," he said as he handed it back. "Call me when you get off work. I wanna know more about you."

The boy looked up, nodding his head.

It was around 8:00 and Josh still hadn't called Tyler. He was such a dumbass thinking he was asking for his number for a date. Now the poor guy just had one more rejection to add to his list.

As he was about to give up, he got a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"U-um... hi. This is not-interested Josh from the store."

"Y-yeah," Tyler said. "Sorry about that."

"It's ok," Josh answered. "I'm used to it."

"Have you ever been on a date, Josh?"

"No."

Tyler sighed, tugging on his hair. "Do you wanna go on a date with someone?"

"Well, yeah. But nobody likes my hair or my gauges or tattoos. And I wanna go on a date with someone who actually kinda likes me. I always thought I had an ok personality. Or that I was nice at the very least. B-but nobody cares about personality anymore."

"I-I uh.,. I'm sorry to hear that," Tyler said.

"I-it's ok. I-I'll let you get back to whatever," Josh said. "Have a good night."

"Wait," Tyler quickly said. "Do you wanna maybe go on a date with me?"

"Y-you already said you weren't interested," Josh said. He sounded really sad. "I-if you were, I'd really like to. B-but you aren't. A-and that's ok. Maybe someone will like me eventually. Bye."

Before Tyler could respond, he had hung up.

The next time he went to the store, he made sure Josh was the one checking his items out. He bought a bouquet of roses, Josh handing them to him.

"Keep 'em," Tyler said as he signed the receipt.

"What?"

"Keep the flowers," he said. "I bought them for you."

Josh blushed deeply as he looked down at the roses. "N-nobody's ever bought me flowers before."

"Well now somebody has," Tyler smiled, putting his bagged groceries in his cart. "Bye, Josh."

"B-bye, Tyler."

The next week, Tyler had Josh check him out. Again, he bought roses.

"They're for you, Josh," he said when Josh tried to hand them to him.

"A-are you sure?"

"Positive," Tyler smiled. "Absolutely positive."

Josh giggled shyly and nodded. "T-thank you."

"See you next week," Tyler hummed.

"S-see you next week."

So every Sunday, around 6:00, Tyler would go grocery shopping and buy a bouquet of roses for his favorite cashier.

Josh was just too special to not feel special.

On his birthday, Tyler bought him a cake and gave him a card. On Christmas he filled a stocking with candy. On thanksgiving he gave Josh enough money to buy a traditional meal since he didn't have a whole lot of money.

And, on Valentine's Day, he got Josh his usual bouquet of roses along with chocolates and a card. Tyler wanted him to open the card in front of him this time.

Josh did so, it reading:

'Josh,

Getting to know you the past eight months has been a blast. You make Sunday's so much more fun and bearable.

Maybe you wanna go on a date sometime? Because I'm interested, Josh.

I'm so, very interested.

Xoxo,
Tyler'

Josh looked up, his eyes wide. He'd been crushing on Tyler since day one. "Y-you wanna g-go on a date? W-with me?"

Tyler grinned and nodded. "Do you want to?"

Josh quickly nodded.

"Cool," Tyler smiled softly. "Maybe after work next Sunday we could go out for dinner?"

"O-ok," he smiled shyly.

"Great," Tyler grinned. "Can't wait."

As soon as Josh finished work the next Sunday, he sped home to his apartment and changed clothes. He wasn't really sure what to wear, so he went with his go-to: black jeans with a gray knit sweater with black vans.

There was a knock on his door, and he answered it to find Tyler smiling.

"H-hi Tyler," he said shyly.

"Hi Josh," Tyler grinned. "I've never seen you not wearing your work clothes. You look amazing either way."

Josh blushed, covering his face with his hands.

Tyler giggled and took his hands off his face, intertwining his left hand with Josh's right. "Are you ready?"

Josh smiled shyly and nodded, and the boys were on their way.

Over the course of the night, Tyler was liking Josh more and more and more. He was so sweet and goofy and just a big teddy bear. His caring, sweet personality didn't match his tough appearance at all.

So they went on a second date.

Then a third.

And then became boyfriends.

And two years later, fiancés.

And Tyler couldnt believe he was getting to marry the sweet, goofy boy with the blue hair, gauges, and the tattoos.

And Josh couldn't believe he was getting to marry his most favorite person in the world.

Tyler even got a few tattoos, and Josh was right by his side, holding his hand and wiping his tears the whole time.

"They look really good, Ty," he smiled softly.

"Thank you, Jishwa," Tyler grinned, cupping his cheek and pulling him in for a kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too," Josh replied.

The boys had gotten an apartment together, and Josh had found a better job than a cashier at Target. He was working his way up in a big company, and was bringing in plenty of money to support both him and the love of his life.

They had an amazing wedding, and an even more amazing honeymoon.

All the boys wanted to do was snuggle while they were in Hawaii, it speaking for both of their personalities.

Life was amazing, and still, every Sunday, when Josh got home from grocery shopping, somehow, someway there was always a bouquet of roses on his side of the bed, and the love of his life on the other.
